Trevor and Sophia Go Camping with Dad-Medium.m4v
Trevor and Sophia went camping with dad from June 27-29, 2012. We spent two nights at the North Trout Lake campground in the Northern Highland State Forest. We visited the North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters during our stay. We also made a side trip to Copper Falls State Park in Mellen, Wisconsin on the way home.

Star Lake Nature Trail Part 3
Please note pets are NOT allowed on this trail, since Penny is my service animal however, I may take her any public place.
Taken from Wildernet.com:
The Star Lake Nature Trail is a moderately hilly trail that is slightly over one mile in length. This historical trail winds its way through what was in the early 1900s a pasture for horses hauling logs from the surrounding woods to the Star Lake Mill. The horses and mill are long since gone and the trees have grown back. This trail is also the site of the first tree plantings in the State of Wisconsin designed to help the forest regenerate. The Red Pine Plantation research plot trees that are still on this site were planted as two-year old seedlings in 1913 from seed stock grown at the old Trout Lake Nursery (current site of the Trout Lake Forestry Headquarters building on Hwy M). In summer, this trail is a great place to see blue flag iris, pipsissewa, Indian pipe and several varieties of wintergreen. Pets are not permitted on trail. The trail is used for cross-country skiing (ungroomed) and snowshoeing during winter.
Directions from Star Lake Area: The trailhead is located off of County K between County M and Hwy. 45. Turn onto Statehouse Road. When you get to the entrance of the West Star Campground, go straight ahead instead of turning left into the campground.

WinMan Trails- Trail building Summer 2014
My name is Avery Jehnke and I am a student studying forest management at the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point.
This is a video I put together as part of my internship at WinMan trails and the North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin. Between May and August 2014 we built over three miles of high quality, low maintenance mountain bike flow trail on a beautiful piece of land in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest.
Huge thanks to WinMan crew Travis Bellman, Robert Polic and Rick Gering along with the Discovery Center staff for a great summer.
