Cromer to Sheringham and Holt – Hastings DEMU cab ride – 23 July 2016
Weybourne Wanderer: Cab view from Cromer to Sheringham and along the full length of the North Norfolk Railway to Holt. Filmed from our preserved Hastings DEMU on Saturday 23 July 2016, during the outward leg of our Weybourne Wanderer railtour.
.
In this video we cover all 9 miles of track that still exist from the Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway’s 180-mile network. We begin at Cromer and run the 3 miles and 50 chains to Sheringham, beyond which the line was closed by BR in 1964. A replacement station was opened in 1967, slightly closer to Cromer, which allowed the level crossing in the town to be closed. However, the original Sheringham station, and the next 5¼ miles of the old line as far as Holt, have been preserved and form the North Norfolk Railway. The closed level crossing was re-opened for occasional (less than one day per month) use in 2010, re-linking the preserved line with the national railway network.
.
We are treated to the spectacle of the level crossing being opened to rail traffic for us, with the barriers consisting of temporary roadworks-style barriers and an impressive throng of onlookers present (see below for a link to the procedure for use of this crossing). Once we’ve called at the old Sheringham station, we proceed along the steeply graded line, through Weybourne and past three fine signal-boxes to the current terminus at Holt.
.
Video footage is from an unattended unmonitored forward-facing cab-camera in motor coach 60116 Mountfield. Audio footage is mostly recorded in the rear cab, because of route-conductor and driver conversing – save for a brief burst at Sheringham that comes from the video-camera’s feed.

.
The railtour began at Hastings and ran via Tonbridge, Bromley South, Kensington Olympia and the North London Line to Stratford, then the Great Eastern Main Line via Colchester and Ipswich to Norwich; a reversal took us to Cromer where we reversed again. The return route was different, as after Norwich we ran direct to Ely and thence via Cambridge and Royston and up the East Coast Main Line to rejoin the outward route at Camden Road. The outward leg was video-recorded from Stratford to Norwich, however the presence of two members of staff in the cab and our lack of rear-cab audio for that long duration means that it will only ever be published as a silent cab-ride... and not in the immediate future.

SHERINGHAM PARK & Weybourne Station | Norfolk, England | UK Days Out
In this Norfolk vlog, we visit National Trust property Sheringham Park. We take a walk around Sheringham Park, and out to Weybourne Station. Weybourne Station is part of the North Norfolk Railway, and while at Weybourne Station we get to see several steam trains pass through and enjoy a cup of coffee. After leaving Weybourne Station we head back into Sheringham Park to finish our walk.

1940's weekend in Sheringham, North Norfolk Railway UK 2019
1940's weekend in Sheringham hosted by North Norfolk Railway and organised by the town's carnival committee, was another great success. The Poppy Line stations at Sheringham, Holt and Cromer welcomed thousands of visitors, however, I could only make Sheringham this year due to other commitments. It was a great pleasure to capture the grand parade and highlights in between a memorable day. It was like going back in time and the golden age of steam came to life in a display of colorful costumes and music from bygone era. The vlog was an addition to the photographs I took and enjoyed filming immensely. Next year I plan to cover Holt and Weybourne as well as Sheringham. My sincere acknowledgments are extended to the amazing volunteers, organisers, sponsors and helpers who make it all possible.
Big thank you to the amazing people who provide music for creators

North Norfolk Railway - Sheringham Station
A look at Sheringham Station on the North Norfolk Steam Railway on the afternoon of Friday 5th July 2013.
Two locomotives are featured here. Firstly, GWR 0-6-2T number 5619 which being of Great Western origin is an unusual place with the North Norfolk Railway being ex London and North Eastern! Then BR Standard 4MT 2-6-0 number 76084 is seen reversing into the station and taking water. What I did not know at the time of filming this was this actually the first video of 76084 seen in steam after a complete restoration by the 76084 Locomotive Company.

Pete Waterman OBE Says Historic North Norfolk Railway Link With Bittern Line Better Than Eurovision
Peter Waterman OBE underlined his life-long passion for steam trains by saying This is better than the Eurovision Song Contest, I'm enjoying every minute of it, I have to dash now because I have a train to catch much to the delight and laughter of onlookers and Poppyline officials. North Norfolk Railway spokesman, Colin Borg said This means so much for Norfolk people and everyone involved, it was an enormous team effort working around the clock to achieve what we see today
Smash hit music maker Pete Waterman made an emotional speech to celebrate the long-awaited link up of the Bittern Line rail link to Norwich with the Poppy Line railway in Sheringham, Norfolk. Thousands of rail enthusiasts and supporters lined the streets to witness history in the making and cheer the steam locomotive Oliver Cromwell, carrying the first passengers over the new tramway-style crossing for the first time in 50 years.70013 Oliver Cromwell is a British Railways standard class 7 preserved steam locomotive. The locomotive is notable as one of the four steam locomotives which worked the last steam railtour on British Rail in 1968 before the introduction of a steam ban
Pete Waterman has worked along side superstars like Kylie Minogue Donna Summer, Geri Halliwell, and Westlife and of course more recently writing and producing the 2010 Eurovision Song entry for the United Kingdom. Mr Peter Waterman OBE underlined his life-long passion for steam trains.
The original crossing over Station Road was initially closed as part of Dr Beeching's railway reform in the 1960s so it was an emotional event for people who remembered the demise of steam and fought for decades for the crossing to be reinstated. The drama unfolded amongst people wearing fashions from the Golden Age of steam complete with 1940's hats, makeshift pin striped stockings from war years and bygone memorabilia.Sheringham stepped back in time to mark this giant step forward for North Norfolk Railway.
