Big Tignish / Jude's Point Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
The Big Tignish or Jude's Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1880 and put into operation in 1881. The tower stands thirty three feet high.
The lighthouse was originally located at the entrance to the Main Channel or Tignish Run, which cuts through a sandy beach at Jude's Point. It overlooked the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the northwest shore of Prince Edward Island.
This structure was operated as a rear range light until 1989, when it was converted to a coastal light. The light was decommissioned in 1997 and began to fall into disrepair. It was donated by the Tignish Harbour authority to a local community group and in 2008 the tower was relocated from the harbour entrance to a nearby park where it forms part of a memorial to fishermen lost at sea.

This series is produced to expedite the release of information by making unedited manuscript material available to the public in advance of formal publication, and to act as a repository for relevant supporting data that are referred to in published reports. Open Files can be maps; reports; voluminous data sets resulting from multiparameter geophysical and geochemical surveys; consultants' reports; preliminary, unvetted field and laboratory results. Point Prim Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
The Point Prim Lighthouse holds the distinction of being the first lighthouse built on Prince Edward Island, constructed in 1845 with the light being lit for the first time on December 4, 1845. This tower was designed by noted architect Isaac Smith, who also designed Province House in Charlottetown. The Tower is also noteworthy in that it is one of only two circular brick lighthouses in Canada. Although constructed of brick the tower was covered in wood shingles in 1847 due to deterioration of the brick caused by freeze/thaw cycles and other environmental factors.
The Point Prim Lighthouse stands 61 feet tall and has five levels including the ground floor, three landings & lantern deck.
A museum is operated in the summer with guided tours.
Location: Located on Point Prim, 10.9km west of Belfast.

West Point Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
West Point Lighthouse is called the first of the 2nd generation of lighthouses on PEI. It was the first one built by the new Department of Marine (also called Department of Marine and Fisheries). West Point was the first of the square towers, and the highest at 20.6 m (67 feet 8 inches) from ground to vane. Built by the firm of Messers. Mugridge and Co. from Shediac, New Brunswick for $4,559.59, it consisted of a square tapered tower of frame construction set on stone foundations. It had a 1 ½ storey, gable-roofed house with a lean-to storage shed. There were only two keepers during the 88 years before the tower was electrified in 1963.
In 1983, a volunteer group, the West Point Development Corporation, leased the tower from the Canadian Coast Guard and on July 1, 1984, began operating it as Canada's only Inn in a Lighthouse. On May 21, 2002, it became the first lighthouse on PEI to have ownership transferred from the Federal Government to a community group.

Cape Egmont Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
The Cape Egmont Lighthouse was completed and put in operation in September of 1884. This square, pyramidal structure is 40-1/2 feet in height from base to vane and was built to the same design as the lighthouses at Wood Islands and Cape Bear. The shingled tower is enhanced by decorative details including pedimented windows. Originally it had an attached dwelling, which was removed in 1958 along with the station's oil house.
The Lighthouse was moved back from the surrounding bluffs in April, 2000
due to shoreline erosion.
The Cape Egmont Lighthouse currently has a signature of a two-second white flash, followed by an eclipse of three seconds.
