Central Nevada Museum, Tonopah
The enriching mining, ranching and pioneer history in Central Nevada comes to live with the Central Nevada Museums’ thoughtful and high caliber exhibits. Additionally, some other displays convey Central Nevada’s natural history, the Western Shoshone’s impact on the region, geology and plant life. Furthermore, the museum sparks an undeniable interest among children with a replicated old west town on the outdoor premises, including miner’s cabins, a saloon, blacksmith shop, railroad yard, early mining equipment, a 10 stamp mill, ore cars and more! Be sure to get the Central Nevada Museum to your next Nevada itinerary.

Mason Nevada - Part 1 Into The Singatse Mountains
The Singatse Mountains reside between the Pinenut and Wassuk Range. These mountains and hills are rich in copper. Miners begin staking claims in the 1860's the problem is nobody knew how to smelt the copper till later in the 1800's and into the early 1900's. Therefore allot of boom towns rose up down some of these old wagon trails such as Nordyke, Wilson Canyon, Ludwig, Hudson, Thompson Smelter, Wabuska, Colony and of course Mason just to name a few. Ill take our viewers jeeping into the mountains of this range where eventually after trial and error I park right in front of the monolithic Blue Stone Mine entrance. At one time the Nevada Copper Belt Railroad traversed this small range having copper ore loaded to its cars to be unloaded to a local smelter for processing other times local ranchers, school children and other passengers simply used this shortline to visit small towns such as Mason. Today upon pulling up to the town site not much exist most of the newer part of town resides in the valley but up in this hills are remnants of the mill, mines and a few other foundations which are reminders as to what was! You can see the giant bluestone mill ruins kind of is reminiscent of what an ancient temple would like in a far off land. This is a beautiful mountain range so if you like beautiful desertscapes in the early morning of sunrise then your going to enjoy this little journey. You will also get to us drive right past one of the largest copper open pit mines in the country the Mason Valley Mines have been in operation for over a century and at one time they had other claims in the district and even connected with the Bluestone Mine underground.

EXPLORING MIDAS, NEVADA!! SURPRISE GUEST!!
Gold was discovered in 1907 in Midas, Nevada by a man named James McDuffy. The town was originally named Gold Circle. The government at the time said they couldn't use the word gold in the name, so they changed the town's name to Midas. Nearby, another town spring up named Summit. Midas had a population of 1500 to 2000. It had saloons, hotels, General Mercantile shops and two newspapers; the News and the Miner. Most of the townspeople, however, had moved on to bigger camps by 1908. In 1909, a mill was constructed which helped support the community until a fire blazed through in 1922, wiping most of the mill out. The mine was officially closed during World War II along with the post office. The town was never completely abandoned. Electricity was introduced in 1989 and the town barely survives today. There are no Services here. There is a permanent population of 7 residents presently and most of the homes and cabins are summer homes owned by people from Reno, Nevada.
