Chinese People from All Over World Gather at Mount Tai to Promote Traditional Culture
More than 1,000 enthusiasts of traditional Chinese culture from home and abroad gathered at the foot of the Taishan Mountain for a ceremony worshiping Heaven on Sunday.
The ceremony, held at Heaven-Earth Square of Tai'an City, east China's Shandong Province, included activities such as playing ancient music and performing ancient etiquette, which were themed of promoting traditional culture and praying for prosperity of the country and for peace of people.
The ceremony had seven sections including Welcoming the God and First Sacrifice. All of the procedures and objects used during the process appeared as an exact reproduction of those in ancient times.
The Yi dance, performed by 36 dancers in a six-to-six formation, was a kind of ancient royal dance specially for sacrifice ceremonies of ancient emperors, marquises and bureaucrats.
I'm very honored to be here for this Heaven Worshiping Praying Ceremony. I'm also very proud to be a Chinese and a Shandong native. Chinese culture is so great that when I go back to the country I live (Serbia), I will serve as a good publicist to spread Chinese culture, said Bo Xiuhua, a traditional Chinese therapist based in Serbia.
They (Australians) can now speak some mandarin. They're proud of that. They'd always say Nihaoma (How are you?) and Zaijian (Goodbye) every time we meet, said Yang Dejun, executive director of the Association League for Shandong expatriates in Australia.
At the same time, a series of activities centered on traditional culture were held, including online exhibition of painting and calligraphy, classics reading, display of intangible cultural and art heritages, and communication conference of traditional Chinese culture.
Chinese studies that we have learned are quite helpful in our life. For example, a sentence in Di Zi Gui (Guidelines for Chinese) says, 'Thou shalt answer thy parents' call immediately', which is to say, when your parents call your name and you might not answer at once, but then you can figure it out and correct yourself, said Li Shuyi, an elementary school student.
Mount Taishan, with its main peak rising 1,545 meters above sea level, has, since ancient times, been a mountain held in high esteem by the Chinese people. It is known as the First of the Five Sacred Mountains of the country, the other four are Mount Hua in the west, two Mount Hengs, one in the south and one in the north, and Mount Song in central China.
In ancient times, the first thing for an emperor to do on ascending to the throne was to climb Mount Tai and pray to heaven and earth or their ancestors. Now it was a symbol for blessings of a peaceful life and unified country.

THE LEGACY OF OUR GREAT GRAND MASTER GU YEE CHEUNG
A piece or treasure for all students, disciples and masters. Excerpts of Grand Master Chan Kwok Wei performing a Yang Tai Chi form practiced by our Great Grand Master Gu Yee Cheung. If you didn't know, Master Gu was a close friend of Master Sun Lu Tan. In this form, you will see many techniques never before seen in Yang Tai Chi. The Sun influence is apparent. Notice the nuances in the footwork (feet are not leaving the ground but rather sliding when transitioning sides) and the many differences from typical Yang style. This is a combat form which explains all the additional techniques usually concealed. ENJOY!
Great praise to Academia Sino-Brazilleira de Kung Fu, Grand Master Chan Kwok Wei and my brother in arms, Master Roberto Baptista.
Sifu Gus Rubio:
My introduction to Grand Master Chan was profound and paramount in my 45 year experience. After re-uniting with my Shaolin Sifu Chin Bak Hey (a.k.a.Cheung Bing Chin)in the 90s, I asked if he would complete my Shaolin training. He said he no longer wanted to teach Shaolin but rather would teach me Fu style Ba Gua and Daoist Hua Shan Chi Gung 108. He further stated that for me to continue in the Shaolin fist, he would refer me to his Master Chan Kwok Wei in Brazil. I WAS FLOORED. Never in my wildest dreams.
Since that referral, I have had the pleasure of meeting the Grand Master and interestingly enough, his aura conveyed an energy of the old past Masters from China. I felt like I was in the room with Grand Master Gu himself.
Enjoy.

Taishan Shadow Play, Going Globalized Chinese Traditional Culture Skills泰山皮影戏
More:
It plays a part of the earliest opera dramas in China. It flourished during the Northern Song Dynasty, and with the invasion of the Jin people and the escape of the people, it gradually formed three major schools of Chinese shadow play: the western shadow play , the northern shadow play and the eastern shadow play. Fan Zhengan is the sixth generation, the shadow of the eastern Mount Tai shadow, mastering the most complex performance skills: ten leisurely.
There are two explanations. One is that you can't live, one is busy, the other is eight instruments on your feet. There are shadows in the The Stunt of Taishan Shadow Play is called Ten Leisure, Fan Zhengan said. Shadows, plus singing, adding up to ten, so called 'ten not idle'.
In 2007, Taishan Shadow Play was successfully selected as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage, and Fan Zhengan was considered as a non-genetic inheritor recognized by the state.
For performances abroad, Fan Zhengan will also keep up with the times. He translated some of the shadow play into English, and all of them were sung in English when they performed. They suddenly narrowed the distance from the foreign audience, and the response was Quite enthusiastic.
In addition, Fan Zhengan will also write new repertoires based on foreign materials, such as Snow White, and then make their own props, the audience's reaction is also very good. The last time the performance was held in Germany, the original organizer Only set 8 games. After that, the response was too enthusiastic and suddenly increased to 15 games.
Tourist terrified by new glass walkway that cracks under weight
A video of a tourist guide terrified by the sight of a bridge’s glass bottom cracking has gone viral recently in East Taihang Mountains, in Handan city, north China's Hebei Province. The glass skywalk hangs 1,180 meters above a valley and stretches 266 meters in length. Just for fun, shattering glass is added as a special effect to give the already-terrifying experience extra zing. The management assured that workers check the glass panels daily to ensure the safety of visitors.

Sanqingshan Mountain, 三清山 China, World's Greatest & Easist Hiking Trail.
The scenic cliffside paths at Sanqingshan is an easy hiking trail for the whole family. It offers breathtaking vistas of one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in China. The sacred Taoist mountain Sānqīng Shān is located 40 kilometres north of Yushan County in Jiangxi Province. The magnificent mountain scenery can be experienced by walking the pathways and stairs that have been carved by hand out of the granite face.
The walkway is yet another Chinese engineering marvel. The extensive paths traverse high along the mountain sides and ridges offering visitors mind blowing vistas in what must be one of the greatest mountain treks in the world!
Sanqing means the Three Pure Ones in Chinese as Mount Sanqing is made up of three main summits: Yujing, Yushui, and Yuhua, representing the Taoist trinity.
A Chinese phrase “三峰峻拔、如三清列坐其巅” (“Three steep peaks, like the Three Pure Ones sit the summits”) explains why it was named San Qing. Amongst the three hills, the Yujing hill (1817 meters above sea level) is the highest.
Mount Sanqing has been classified as a national park of China. It is a famous honeypot as well as a shelter for animals and plants. It contains more than 2300 species of plants and 400 species of vertebrates. The total area of Mount Sanqing is 229 km². It became a National Geopark in 2005 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.

Journey Walking Up Taoist Wudang Mountain in China
Journey to China and the Wudang Mountains where we train Tai Chi, Qigong and practice meditation. We also meet very interesting people, even wise people who live in caves on Wudang Mountain. Plus you get to eat some of the best mountain grown, organic vegetables which is absolutely delicious!
This video begins as we are about to start our accent walking over 10,000 stairs to get to where Golden Summit is at the top of Wudang Mountain. For hundreds of years people have climbed Wudang seeking enlightenment.
You can walk which takes around 3 hours of breath taking scenery as you will see from the video clips I have taken along the way. Or you can take a bus most of the way and then a cable car to almost the top. This is a great option for people who are suffering form injury or illness and still have a chance of making i to the sacred top, where the scenery is out of this world! - Terry Hodgkinson, Tao Travels - Journeys that Enlighten the Soul.
Golden Summit History:
The peak attraction in Wudang is Jinjian (the Golden Summit), which shines as the alpine range's highest and most sacred point.
The construction of holy edifices on the Golden Summit began with an order from Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) Emperor Li Shimin (626-649).
The highest peak of Wudang Shan is the Sky Piller Peak which measures 1,612 m.
Other Places We Visit on Wudand Mountain:
The Purple Heaven Palace: This temple was a filming sight for the movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. The courtyard of this temple is used in the mornings by our Tia Chi school that is located within the mountain.
Carefree Valley: Though it is much lower on the mountain than most of the other sights, Care Free Valley is probably the most beautiful location in all of Wudang Shan. Dragon Spring Lake is located at the beginning of the trails that lead into Care Free Valley. This lake is one of the locations used in the 2010 film The Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. The path that leads into the valley follows a small peaceful stream that cuts between the mountains and winds forest covered hills.
Dragon Spring Lake:
This is a fantastic place for natural beauty and also to get up close with monkeys. One needs to be-careful however, as some of them may try to grab your food.
Wudang Martial Arts:
According to legend Wudang Shan is the birthplace of Tai Chi and the Wudang style of martial arts. This style of martial arts includes Tai Chi and is distinct to southern China while the Shoalin school of martial arts is much more prominent in northern China. We will be training with at one of the oldest Tai Chi schools on Wudang Mountain. This is a real blessing and a real treat to be able to watch their teachers move like silk as they demonstrate so many of their Qigong and Tai Chi forms.

The Beginnings of Tea - China's Favorite Drink
Chinese people have drunk tea for several thousand years. The legend goes that Shen Nong discovered tea almost 5000 years ago.
Shen Nong is a legendary figure, sometimes referred to in English, as the Divine Farmer. He is said to have taught the Chinese people the art of agriculture and well digging.
Shen Nong invented the plough and hoe, and identified a myriad of herbs, many of which are used in Chinese medicine.
A story goes that Shen Nong was drinking a cup of boiled water one day, and some leaves from a nearby bush blew into his cup. He was delighted by the infusion and thus tea was invented.
But tea didn't become widely popular as a beverage until during the Tang Dynasty. At first it was considered a medicinal tonic. China's ancient medical manual, the Ben Cao, attributed to Shen Nong, recorded that tea has the property to keep people awake.
It was this property that got Buddhist monks interested in tea drinking. Monks would meditate for long periods, often at night, and some monks started drinking tea to stop them from falling asleep.
During the early Tang Dynasty, tea was popular in the southern region of China, but not so in the north. Then a Buddhist master named Jiangmo, originally a southerner, came to spread Zen Buddhism at Lingyan Temple at the foot of Mount Tai, in what's now Shandong province.
Jiangmo would drink tea at night to keep himself awake while meditating. Other monks in the temple and later outsiders copied his habit.
Tea drinking became a customary practice as markets sprouted up around Lingyan temple selling teas like those drank by the monks. It led to a tea craze that swept across China.
At the height of this craze, along came a man called Lu Yu, who wrote a book called the Classic of Tea or Cha Jing in Chinese. The book became the world's first tea manual.
The Classic of Tea not only heightened the tea-drinking trend but also led to a craze for collecting tea ware. Lu Yu described in the book his 24-part tea set. Other ancient texts also documented the craze amongst collectors for buying different variations of these tea sets.
After the Tang Dynasty, the tradition of tea drinking changed. By the end of the Song Dynasty, improved tea production methods meant loose tealeaves tasted better than before, and this became the main form of tea in China.
In the Ming Dynasty people started to use the 'gai wan'—a cup with a lid—to brew and drink their tea. Then during the Qing Dynasty, tea trade between China and Europe flourished.
Today, tea remains one of the most popular beverages in the world.

Introduction of Tianmen Mountains (Heaven Gate Mountain)
The elevation of Tianmen Mountains is 1518.6 meters (the highest one in Zhangjiajie); people may feel amazing that about 40 peaks inside the mountain area are over 1000 meters. Due to the high elevation of the mountain, the day time is longer than the night hours and the temperature on the mountains is about 10 degree centigrade lower than the Zhangjiajie city, the sunrise on the mountain is 30 minutes earlier and the sunset is 45 minutes later than it is in the city areas. Thus it is known as an endless sky without darkness.
The mountain is famous for its unique natural miracle - the Tianmen Cave; it was authorized as a national forest park in July, 1992. The door-alike cave was created after the cliff collapsing in ancient time. Tianmen Mountains is rich in Chinese culture; it is regarded as the Top 1 Heaven Mountain in the west part of Hunan province and the sprit of Wuling (an old name of the county here). This place has absorbed the essence from the nature for thousands years, therefore visiting the holy temple on the mountain – Tianmenshan Temple has become a popular way to pray for a safe and healthy life.
Four wonders at Tianmen Mountains (Heaven Gate Mountain)
- The Tianmenshan Mountain Cableway: It is the longest mountain cableway in the world, the hypotenuse length of the cableway is 7455 meters, starting from the city center of Zhangjiajie to the 'Hanging Garden' on the peak. Guests may feel how hard when it was built once sitting in the cable car. The amazing man-made project will bring you a memorable experience seeing the changing of mountain views and landscapes.
- Tianmen Cave (means the Heaven's Gate in Chinese): The cave is on the precipices and is over 1260 meters elevation, the height of the cave is 131.5 meters and the width is about 50 meters, the unusual grotto is grand and magnificent. The cave is like the door to heaven; it looks like the junction of common world and the place where god lives. Guest may need to walk up 999 steps to reach the cave, it will be tried but lucky, because '9' is the biggest number in Chinese culture and 999 means an eternal/forever life. The highlight of Tianmen Cave is the mystic views of fog and cloud. Watching the changing of clouds and fogs, the feeling is like traveling in a place with profound questions asked by the god.
- Heaven-linking Avenue: Actually it is the twisting mountain road from the foot of the mountains to the 'Heaven Ladders' of Tianmen Cave. The mountain road is only less than 11 kilometers but the elevation rises rapidly from 200 meters to 1300 meters. Ninety nine turnings decorate the holy road and it was built with over a hundred million of Chinese Yuan investment together with a 5 years hard working. The twisting road is like a white dragon lying on the mountains, this road is regarded as the most amazing mountain road in the world. This road is used for mountain bike cycle races, definitely it is interesting and exiting to ride bicycle at Tianmenshan, and bicycle lovers focus more on the beautiful sceneries along the road and the challenge to conquer such a mountain distance.
- Bonsai Garden (Hanging Garden): As an national forest park, on the peak of Tianmen Mountains locate big primeval forests, the main area being protected is named Bi ye yao tai scenic areas (in the east of the peak areas). The whole area looks like a natural bonsai and over 20 attractions can be seen there, it is the biggest one of the four scenic areas of Tianmen Mountains.
Two fantastic scenes of the Tianmen Cave
The most famous two wonders of Tianmen Cave are the turning water and the moving of Heaven’s Gate. The turning water actually means the spraying of waters in sunny day of summer, the water comes from the right side of the cliff but no water resources can be found on the cliff. People said that the spraying water shows has something related to historical events or natural disasters.
Every local people believe that the Tianmen Cave is moving from the north to the north-west because they couldn’t see the gate of the mo

Hiking Black Mountain Valley | Chongqing China
Hey peoples, it's a walking day in Chongqing. We hit up the famous Black Valley Mountain. We walked the North Path and went on a little obstacle course before heading out for some food.
It was nice but we took a cable car past any of the harder hiking spots so it was more like a long walk through the valley. I was very beautiful and if you get the chance I definitely suggest going.
We also tried to order dumplings without speaking any Mandarin so... that didn't go that well
I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching! Hit the like button and subscribe if you cracked a smile. We’re all about the cheeses around here. Ok! I’m done.
Don't be shy, say hi
