Northern Watters Knitwear PEI
In an age when most manufacturers strive to cut costs and improve efficiency it has become our goal to be about a hundred years behind the rest. While it might seem to be an odd achievement, it is the only way we know of fulfilling our main objective of being the highest quality maker of outdoor sweaters in the world.
It is no accident that our sweaters are often seen in major motion pictures set in the late nineteenth or early twentieth centuries. Our level of craftsmanship is born of that era and since we make sweaters to last a lifetime it only makes good sense to create styles that endure as well.
Each of our garments are created by knitting fully fashioned panels by hand on antique Swiss knitting looms. Knitted panels are then assembled by point-by-point linking using the same yarn used to knit the sweater. Every sweater is then painstakingly hand finished to perfection. There is no cutting and, with the exception of buttons and labels, no sewing anywhere on our sweaters.
We are located in Prince Edward Island, Canada, a tiny province with a big reputation for traditional values and craftsmanship. We proudly present three of our own collections to you.
No sweater we make is complete until the hang tag has been signed by the knitter who actually made the garment. That signature is your guarantee that your sweater was crafted with care by one of the world's best knitters.
We are indeed, a hundred years behind the times. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Preserving the L.M. Montgomery Seashore
The L.M. Montgomery Land Trust is a charitable non-profit organization founded in 1994 to work to preserve the scenic agricultural coastal lands on Prince Edward Island's north shore.
With the agricultural economy in a downturn, and land prices rising, the pressure on family farms in our area to sell land for development is increasing every day. The result is that our historic coastal agricultural land, an iconic part of the Island landscape, is in danger of disappearing forever, along with the family farms that have nurtured this land for generations.
Concentrating on the area between French River and Sea View, the Land Trust works with land owners to identify alternatives to selling land for development, using a variety of mechanisms to secure the development rights for land and therein preserving it free from development in perpetuity.
We do this because of our own love for the land, because of our commitment to family farms, and to honour the memory of L.M. Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, who was so inspired by the landscape a century ago.
ISLAND ORGANIZATIONS ARE DOING SIMPLY AMAZING IN HALIFAX
As someone who spends a good amount of time in Halifax, I see a lots of Island companies expanding to the Nova Scotia capital however one building pretty much takes the cake for being mostly Island based companies.

Anne of Green Gables is a 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery (published as L. M. Montgomery). Written for all ages, it has been considered a classic children's novel since the mid-twentieth century. Set in the late 19th century, the novel recounts the adventures of Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan girl, who is mistakenly sent to two middle-aged siblings; Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, originally intending to adopt a boy to help them on their farm in the fictional town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. The novel recounts how Anne makes her way through life with the Cuthberts, in school, and within the town.
Since its publication, Anne of Green Gables has sold more than 50 million copies and has been translated into at least 36 languages. Montgomery wrote numerous sequels, and since her death, another sequel has been published, as well as an authorized prequel. The original book is taught to students around the world. The book has been adapted as films, made-for-television movies, and animated and live-action television series. Musicals and plays have also been created, with productions annually in Europe, and Japan.

SUMMARY
=======
The technological and industrial history of Canada encompasses the country's development in the areas of transportation, communication, energy, materials, public works, public services (health care), domestic/consumer and defense technologies. Most technologies diffused in Canada came from other places; only a small number actually originated in Canada. For more about those with a Canadian origin, see Invention in Canada.
The terms chosen for the age described below are both literal and metaphorical. They describe the technology that dominated the period in question but are also representative of a large number of other technologies introduced during the same period. Also of note is the fact that the period of diffusion of a technology can begin modestly and can extend well beyond the age of its introduction. To maintain continuity, the treatment of its diffusion is dealt with in the context of its dominant age. For example, the Steam Age here is defined as being from 1840 to 1880. However, steam-powered boats were introduced in 1809, the CPR was completed in 1885 and railway construction in Canada continued well into the 20th century. To preserve continuity, the development of steam, in the early and later years, is therefore considered within the Steam Age.
Technology is a major cultural determinant, no less important in shaping human lives than philosophy, religion, social organization, or political systems. In the broadest sense, these forces are also aspects of technology. The French sociologist Jacques Ellul defined la technique as the totality of all rational methods in every field of human activity so that, for example, education, law, sports, propaganda, and the social sciences are all technologies in that sense. At the other end of the scale, common parlance limits the term's meaning to specific industrial arts.
