The final show of the Maladjusted tour went down well, but Morrissey looked tired and slightly absent-minded. He distractedly made a few lyrical mistakes which were followed with growls of frustration. The band didn't seem satisfied with the sound. The venue was a gymnasium and wasn't really appropriate for this type of concert. There was a high barrier about three meters from the stage so only a few lucky fans managed to reach their idol. It was still possible to touch Morrissey's hands, so there was a lot of action against the barrier. All in all, despite those conditions, fans were in great spirits and very receptive. They broke into chants of Morrissey's name more than once.
Only minor changes were made to the setlist order as Ambitious Outsiders was replaced with The Teachers Are Afraid Of The Pupils.
As he entered stage, Morrissey greeted the audience by shouting Goodbye Chester! He changed a line in opening number Do Your Best And Don't Worry to against the worst of what you are what the hell, you won't win. After The Boy Racer came the second part of his greeting I'd like to say hello to the - Can you hear me? I'd like to say hello to the bruisers from Merseyside... I don't know why... Then after the next song he added So nice to be away from Altrincham! (Altrincham is where Morrissey lived when in England).
Paint A Vulgar Picture was introduced with the line We'd now like to do a song from the album 'Strangeways, Here's My Bum'. However there was a delay because either Alain or Boz started to pick the first notes to Spring-Heeled Jim. Someone probably needed to change guitars or tune them and Morrissey waited patiently for everyone to be ready, meanwhile reassuring the waiting audience with the words it's a minor technicality... After The Teachers Are Afraid Of The Pupils he cryptically said Thank you fortune...
Morrissey seemed distracted during Alma Matters and made a few mistakes. After the song he asked the crowd Are you bored? to which he obviously got a negative answer, so he enquired further Why not?. The crowd was really honest in their answer because following Trouble Loves Me it broke into a chant of Morrissey's name. In Now My Heart Is Full the singer slightly changed a line to Every jammy Stretford poet. Main set closer Satan Rejected My Soul was introduced with the words We're about to release a Christmas single... After the song but before going into the pre-encore break Morrissey simply shouted Merry Christmas!. After Shoplifters Of The World Unite he just said I love you... before exiting the stage for the last time of 1997.

Chester is a city in northwest England, founded as a Roman fortress in the 1st century A.D. It's known for its extensive Roman walls made of local red sandstone. In the old city, the Rows is a shopping district distinguished by 2-level covered arcades and Tudor-style half-timber buildings. A Roman amphitheatre, with ongoing excavations, lies just outside the old city's walls.
Chester is a walled city in Cheshire, England, on the River Dee, close to the border with Wales. Chester was founded as a castrum or Roman fort with the name Deva Victrix in the reign of the Emperor Vespasian in 79 AD. One of the main army camps in Roman Britain, Deva later became a major civilian settlement. In 689, King Æthelred of Mercia founded the Minster Church of West Mercia, which later became Chester's first cathedral, and the Saxons extended and strengthened the walls to protect the city against the Danes. Chester was one of the last cities in England to fall to the Normans. William the Conqueror ordered the construction of a castle, to dominate the town and the nearby Welsh border.
Chester is one of the best preserved walled cities in Britain. It has a number of medieval buildings, but some of the black-and-white buildings within the city centre are Victorian restorations. Apart from a 100-metre (330 ft) section, the listed Grade I walls are almost complete. The Industrial Revolution brought railways, canals, and new roads to the city, which saw substantial expansion and development – Chester Town Hall and the Grosvenor Museum are examples of Victorian architecture from this period.
Bus transport in the city is provided by Stagecoach Group and Arriva Buses Wales, the council owned and operated ChesterBus (formerly Chester City Transport). Chester formerly had two railway stations. Chester General railway station remains in use but Chester Northgate closed in 1969 as a result of the Beeching Axe. The Chester Canal had locks down to the River Dee. Canal boats could enter the river at high tide to load goods directly onto seagoing vessels.

Britain's Lost Colosseum | PBS America
The Romans loved to watch their champions fight to the death in their empire’s amphitheatres. So as they conquered new lands, they built new amphitheatres – and that included Britain.
Archaeologists Tony Wilmott and Dan Garner explore the Colosseum in Chester, the largest of at least 25 amphitheatres built in the UK. Over three months, using backbreaking work and painstaking analysis, they excavate the ancient site, unearthing the Colosseum’s long-hidden secrets and bringing it back to life with computer animation.
Was Chester’s Colosseum built by Emperor Vespasian, the man who built the Colosseum in Rome? And what did it look like? Discover what it was like to fight and die in BRITAIN'S LOST COLOSSEUM.
