Ann Wright speaks supporting her book, Voices of Conscience.
Ann Wright resigned from the U.S. Foreign Service on March 19, 2003, while serving as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Mongolia . She resigned due to her disagreement with the Bush administration's decision to go to war in Iraq without the authorization of the UN Security Council, the lack of effort in resolving the Israel-Palestinian situation, the lack of policy on North Korea and unnecessary curtailment of civil liberties in the United States .
Ms. Wright joined the Foreign Service in 1987 and served as Deputy Chief of Mission of US Embassies in Sierra Leone , Micronesia and briefly in Afghanistan . She received the State Department's Award for Heroism for her actions during the evacuation of 2500 persons from the civil war in Sierra Leone , the largest evacuation since the evacuation of Saigon in 1974.

Music by Ghostland Observatory - Midnight Voyage
The Norwich Bookstore Alice Fogel & Diana Whitney
Fogel, the New Hampshire Poet Laureate, will read selections from her collection from Schaffner Press, Interval: Poems Based on Bach's Goldberg Variations, winner of the 2014 Nicholas Schaffner Award for Music in Literature. In it, Fogel pays homage to the 274-year-old composition by Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach created the Goldbergs' 32 sections using nearly all the styles of western European music at the time; Fogel responds in kind with a range of contemporary poetic styles, including narrative, lyric, and experimental, all confined within the 32-line structure she has borrowed from the composer's 32-bar format.
Fogel teaches creative writing at Keene State College and is an academic support tutor at Landmark College. The author of three poetry collections, her poetry has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies, and has been nominated six times for a Pushcart Prize. She lives in Acworth, New Hampshire.
Wanting It is Whitney's debut book of poems, praised as a saucily entitled and brilliant book ... What a debut! by Vermont Poet Laureate Sydney Lea, a debut with a tremulous spirit full of ... imaginative agitation, adds poet Major Jackson, and one of the finest collections I've read in a very long time, says writer Laura Kasischke.
Diana Whitney graduated from Dartmouth College and Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. She also studied in the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. She lives in Southern Vermont with her family. Wanting It is her first book. Photo by Jeff Woodward.

BookTV: Madeleine Kunin, The New Feminist Agenda
Madeleine Kunin, former governor of Vermont, presents her thoughts on the current state of gender politics in America with a focus on professional careers and employment. The author contends that women have gained little support in their professional lives, despite the fact that they comprise 60% of college undergraduates and 50% of medical and law students. Ms. Kunin argues that women's needs should be better represented in accordance with other countries, which maintain paid family leave, childcare, and the observance of equal pay for the same work performed by male colleagues. Madeleine Kunin speaks at Northshire Bookstore in Manchester Center, Vermont.
