Rockport MA - striper from shore - dusk in early spring
Just before sunset, had been fishing for over an hour without even a tap. Then on a slow retrieve caught a good enough for dinner but not big enough to keep stripped bass. Used a yo-zuri mag minnow in bronze color (more like gold). This lure has great action on a slow retrieve. The tide was low and this area was not very deep, probably between 4 and 8 ft of water.

Concord, North Bridge, Massachusetts
Concord is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, in the United States.
The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the initial conflict in the American Revolutionary War. On April 19, 1775, a force of British Army regulars marched from Boston to Concord to capture a cache of arms that was reportedly stored in the town. Forewarned by Paul Revere and other messengers, the colonists mustered in opposition. Following an early-morning skirmish at Lexington, where the first shots of the battle were fired, the British expedition under the command of Lt. Col. Francis Smith advanced to Concord. There, colonists from Concord and surrounding towns (notably a highly drilled company from Acton led by Isaac Davis) repulsed a British detachment at the Old North Bridge and forced the British troops to retreat. Subsequently, militia arriving from across the region harried the British troops on their return to Boston, culminating in the Siege of Boston and outbreak of the war.
Concord has a remarkably rich literary history centered in the mid-nineteenth century around Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882), who moved to the town in 1835 and quickly became its most prominent citizen. Emerson, a successful lecturer and philosopher, had deep roots in the town: his father Rev. William Emerson (1769–1811) grew up in Concord before becoming an eminent Boston minister, and his grandfather, William Emerson Sr., witnessed the battle at the North Bridge from his house, and later became a chaplain in the Continental Army. Emerson was at the center of a group of like-minded Transcendentalists living in Concord.
Qui vissero Ralph Waldo Emerson, famoso filosofo e poeta, e Louisa May Alcott, l'autrice di Piccole donne. Qui è inoltre nato l'attore Steve Carell.

Matt doing greenland rolling under the drone - kayaking Lynn Harbor, Lynn MA
Was thinking we're about to get some great footage of Matt going through the rolls he's learned so far. Unfortunately for all of us, it didn't quite go that way. Had some crazy interference that was trashing my live video feed. I couldn't frame a shot to save my life. I don't know what the power company has running in that area, but even 100' away from my Phantom, the camera feed was so choppy, I'm lucky I got anything at all.
Here's what I did manage to capture. Matt has come a long way since his first roll! Good job!

SCUBA Diving New England - Cathedral Rocks, Gloucester, MA
I'm relatively new to the world of cold water New England Diving, but am really enjoying the array and quantity of wildlife to view. This is the second time I've been to this location. The visibility was down quite a bit from about a week ago, but I still loved every minute of it. This is a really nice shore dive.

Scallop Diving From Kayaks in Salem Harbor Part 1
This is an atypical sea scallop dive in Massachusetts. Atypical because the water is reasonably clear and that the scallops are just waiting for you to take them. Generally you swim about a half a mile per bag.
Another diver shows up encroaching on my scallops and there is a brief Sea Hunt style knife fight. This is the only time I have ever needed to use my dive knife in over 200 dives and this is why you should always carry one, to defend your scalloping territory.
The Kayaks have dive flags and are being towed with us so navigation isn't a big issue and you get more protection from any other boats in the area. After 20 or so scallops in the bag attach a lift bag and add enough air make it easier to move your bag around and to float it to the top when you are done.
2015BlackburnChallenge
A record 17 participants from Rock & Row rowing club in Marblehead Massachusetts started just North of the Railroad bridge in the Annisquam river west of Gloucester & Rockport.
Starters encounters stiff breezes in the river as they made their way North on a ebbing tide which boosted their speeds. Those who exited the river successfully had to power through 4-6 foot waves. The combination of juxtaposed current and wind made for a turbulent uphill struggle for competitors until turning the corner at Halibut Point. With a brief respite in the lee of Straitsmouth Island, rowers and paddlers gathered their remaining strength to complete the circumnavigation of Cape Anne and finish strong despite stiffening headwinds.
