On this vlog i have featured the famous Norwegian Petroleum Museum a Dynamic Museum for a Dynamic Industry. Norwegian Petroleum Museum is a museum for everyone. Its exhibits explain how oil and gas are created, discovered and produced, and what they are used for. The museum also provides information about technological advances and the way petroleum influences Norwegian society. Original objects, models, films and interactive exhibits illustrate everything from everyday life offshore to technology and dramatic incidents. The curious cat Petro serves as a guide through the museum's science centre. The museum was designed by architects Lunde & Løvseth, and is an attraction in itself. Its architecture is a scenographic interpretation of the Norwegian bedrock, the open coastal landscape and the offshore oil installations. Architectural reviews have said that there is hardly a building in Norway which signals its function as obviously as the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. The museum was opened in 1999.

Stavanger
Stavanger is a city and municipality in the county of Rogaland, Norway. Stavanger was established as a municipality 1 January 1838. The then rural municipalities of Hetland and Madla merged with Stavanger 1 January 1965.
Stavanger municipality has a population of 121,325 (2008), but there are 185,913 (2007) people living in the Stavanger conurbation, making Stavanger the de facto third largest city in Norway. Stavanger is also the centre of the Stavanger metropolitan area which has a population of 285,895. The city is commonly referred to as the Petroleum Capital of Norway.
The city is a combination of new and old influences. There is a significant foreign influence with the foreign oil interests, the NATO Joint Warfare Center and in recent years a large immigration from Eastern Europe. Norway's oldest cathedral, Stavanger domkirke, is situated in the city centre. Stavanger has several beautiful lakes, which are popular recreation areas. Breiavatnet is located in the heart of Stavanger, while Mosvatnet and Stokkavatnet are situated right outside.
Old Stavanger (Gamle Stavanger) is located right next to the city centre and has a collection of eighteenth and nineteenth century wooden structures.
Stavanger domkirke (St. Svithun's cathedral) was built between 1100 and 1150 by the English bishop Reinald in Anglo-Norman style, and in the late 13th century a new choir was added in Gothic style, with a vaulted roof. The cathedral is the only Norwegian cathedral that is almost unchanged since the 14th century.
The city centre itself is small and intimate, with narrow streets and open spaces protected from car traffic. The open-air vegetable market is one of the very few in Norway where you can buy produce directly from local farmers every working day through the year.

The remaking of Norwegian concrete technology
The construction of the first Condeep started in Hinnavågen, Stavanger, Norway. Between 1973 and 1995 numerous concrete platforms were produced by Norwegian Contractors. The former CEO of Norwegian Contractors , Jan Moksnes held a session at the ONS16 in Stavanger about how the concrete technology of the past can be put to use in the future.
The lecture was held at the session “Archives and history – analyzing times of transition” hosted by The Norwegian Oil and Gas Archives and the Norwegian Petroleum Museum.
The main theme for the ONS-2016 conference was “Transition”.
Building Oil Pasts and Futures: The Norwegian Petroleum Museum
Building Oil Pasts and Futures: The Norwegian Petroleum Museum
April 15, 2019
Norway struck oil in 1969 with the discovery of the giant Ekofisk oil field in the North Sea, and during the last 50 years Norway has developed an advanced offshore oil and gas industry. The activities and income from the industry have made a big impact on Norwegian society. Since 1996 the state revenue has been transferred into the Government Pension Fund Global – to benefit future generations. The funds value today: 1.000.000.000.000 (one trillion) dollars! The Norwegian Petroleum Museum was inaugurated by His Majesty King Harald in 1999. The museum tells the unique story of how Norway has met the challenge of the new offshore industry, based on solid maritime experience. And maybe most important: Norway’s oil and gas has been developed within the framework of democratic institutions – with the strong political vision that the petroleum resources belong to the people. This talk delves into this topical scope in greater detail.

Petroleum Museum
Oil is boring.
Entertainment is for theme parks, not museums.
A small town can’t have big dreams.
These were the preconceptions that the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum would have to conquer through the renovation of its 40-year-old facility.
The Museum knew that a simple re-fresh filled with traditional museum exhibits would not suffice. So the Museum hired specialists with theme park experience to to convey challenging content in an innovative, entertaining manner. The result? An anchor attraction that would soon become the talk of the Basin and beyond: The Voyage of the PetroTrekker.
In front of you stands a spaceship unlike any other – themed as a massive drill bit, you can see from its thematic rust that it has seen its share of adventures. You walk up the ramp and discover your mission – you are on the crew of a critical petroleum exploration expedition. Teams from around the world compete in a race against the clock to discover new areas of exploration for oil and gas. The country of Midlandia needs you.
After your captain provides his initial instructions, the PetroTrekker doors open, and you are beckoned to board. As a crewmember, you will use the touch screen in front of you to respond to the captain’s commands. The captain commences the launch sequence, the floor shakes beneath you, the lights flicker, and you feel as though you are lifted through the roof of the Museum. The PetroTrekker hurtles through the sky to the Congo and plunges into the depths of the Kara Sea, hoping to outpace its rivals. By using a variety of exploration techniques to locate new oil reserves, your team wins the race and completes its mission.
With theatrical lighting, a dramatic live action and animated video, interactive screens, and special effects, this simulator-type experience transports guests on a one-of-a-kind adventure.
The story of the Petroleum Museum is the story of Midland – a small place with big dreams and an even bigger resolve to make them happen. A desire not to rest on the laurels of the past, but to incorporate new technologies, cutting edge innovations and out-of-the box techniques. A will to wow.
