Bienno borgo degli artisti
Borgo dei magli e deli artisti
Bienno in questi anni è stato capace di aumentare molto le proposte turistiche e grazie ad eventi come la Mostra Mercato, l'appartenenza al Club I borghi più belli d'Italia e la certificazione ambientale EMAS, il flusso dei visitatori è in continuo aumento. Il turismo è parte dell'economia del paese e contribuisce a mantenere vivo e bello il centro storico di Bienno.
La Chiesa di Santa Maria Annunciata, costruita nella seconda metà del '400, è situata nel centro del paese ed è sempre stata di proprietà comunale. L'edificio presenta le caratteristiche delle pievi rustiche, con una facciata a capanna piuttosto slanciata e con un'unica aula suddivisa da archi a sesto acuto; sulla facciata troviamo pilastri in pietra a vista ed un rosone in stile gotico, mentre nella lunetta un tempo si trovava un affresco. Sono visibili alcuni affreschi sbiaditi del 1546 che rappresentano S. Antonio, S. Giorgio, S. Elisabetta e S. Maria. L'interno spazioso a tre campate è di buone proporzioni e crea una sensazione di armoniosità, non sempre corrispondente alla frammentarietà che esprime l'apparato pittorico, che fa piuttosto pensare ad ex voto commissionati di volta in volta da varie famiglie. Gli affreschi sono stati eseguiti in tre momenti da mani diverse nell'arco di 50 anni.
