Trail check riding Fernhill | Travel Guide | Bike Travel Destination QUEENSTOWN NZ
FERNHILL RIDING
Fernhill loop is one of the most famous enduro trail riding area in Queenstown. There is an amazing trail named Beeched As that climbs up there from the top of the Gondola. You can also pedal on the fire road to the top of the gondola. Beeched As opens up to a beautiful view over Queenstown and a giant table in memory of Kelly Mcgarry. Make sure you pay your tribute to the legend before going down.
Up there you have a couple options to ride down, all trails are pretty steep, have tight corners and are technical these are not beginners trails but advanced riders will enjoy a great variety of riding. The Fernhill Loop descent is the easiest way down and can suit intermediate riders.

Rude Rock & Zoot Track - MTB trails - Queenstown, New Zealand
Finally got up to the top of Coronet Peak to checkout these two trails. EPIC.
Most people in the mountain biking community would have heard of Rude Rock (there is a rock that looks like a...). It's described as the perfect flow trail and has amazing views looking back towards Queenstown. It does not disappoint. It was amazing to ride it for the first time.
However the real treat for me was Zoot Track. It's a rut following a ridge line lower down on the mountain from Rude Rock. Often there are 2-3 options for lines. You have to be super careful not to get too carried away and let the brakes completely off as this trail could flex you HARD! The ruts are pedal deep and there are a few sniper rocks. Apparently it's known to break a lot of collar bones.
This was on the first day of our Queenstown trip and Virgin Australia decided to leave my bike in Sydney. Luckily we got rentals off Justin @ Bikeaholic so we could still ride. I was on a Transition Patrol which was pretty good fun and felt familiar to my old Norco Range, however I should have checked the rear tyre as it had about 12psi in it and was squirming around.
Props to QMTBC for putting the effort in to build these trails. So good.

Cycling Around Queenstown in the Fall - REMARKABLE!!!
Queenstown is the most popular destination in New Zealand and it's easy to see why. It is surrounded by the Southern Alps and its beauty never ends. I rented a bicycle through Cycle Higher to take around the area for a day. First I took the narrow road towards Glenorchy along Lake Wakatipu. Then I headed back to Queenstown for lunch, which was a meat pie from Fergbaker. Then I rode along the Queenstown trail along the lake to Frankton. I biked a total of about 55 kms (34 miles). My butt hurt a lot afterwards but the views and the Fall foliage made it all worth it.

Mountain Biking a Steep Local Track in Queenstown, New Zealand (Follow Cam)
***I apologize about the obnoxious clearing throat noise***
Today we are riding a STEEP (average -34.7% grade) local trail in New Zealand! Out of respect to the trail builders and local riders I have not and will not mention the name of the trail. I hope you guys enjoy the video! Similar trail to Salmon Run, but steeper and less technical. We pointed the Feiyutech Gimbal literally straight down so you guys could still see the bars and trail in the shot. Argumentatively, I could have pointed the GoPro too low, it is all trial and error. Tell me what you think down below in the comments!

The other Arrowtown Trails are:: Bush Creek Trail - 4km; Sawpit Gully Trail - 12km; Hayes Creek Trails - 1 and 2 hours ; Millennium Walkway - 5km and Macetown 4WD Road - 6 hours return.
