NOTO PENINSULA - Traveling in Japan (Ishikawa Prefecture)/金沢・野登半島(日本国内旅行)
In July I went for two days to Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, to visit my friend there. While I went sightseeing on my own on my first day, we were taking a drive to the sea on the second. They showed me many amazing places, worth visiting. When you are not in one of the bigger cities, I recommend you to rent a car and discover the surrounding areas with it. Just like we did.

I would so much like to add subtitles to all of my videos, but as you can imagine:
To work full time and to make videos at the same time is already time consuming.
Therefore I would very much appreciate your help, if you are interested in
helping me out with the subtitles. Of course you will be credited.
I'm also open to any kind of creative cooperation for videos or photos (or articles) as it
would be so much more fun.
Please leave a comment or a message, if you are interested.

Exploring Rural Japan! | Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa
Some friends came up to visit me this past weekend! Since they live in *slightly* bigger towns, they were able to come and see what it truly means to live in rural Japan.
We do a lot of sightseeing, but mostly in Wajima and Suzu (I live in Noto). Place names/locations are in the video, but if you have any questions and/or suggestions feel free to comment down below!

Yase Cliff, Noto Kongō Coast, Ishikawa Prefecture | Nippon.com: Japan in Video
The Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture is a large area of land extending into the Sea of Japan. One of the major scenic attractions is the Noto Kongō Coast on the western side, featuring towering cliffs and rock formations carved by raging waves. Yase Cliff (Yase no Dangai) is especially popular as a tourist destination. This was a location for the filming of Zero Focus (Zero no shōten), based on the mystery novel of the same title by Matsumoto Seichō. Visitors can look down prominence to the rough waters of the Sea of Japan 35 meters below. A trail leads from the cliff to another nearby attraction, a narrow inlet called Yoshitsune no Funakakushi after a tale of the twelfth-century warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune, said to have hidden 48 ships here as he fled from his estranged brother Yoritomo.

NOTO, A small fishing village in Japan. 冬の能登半島外浦 輪島・門前
The center of the Japanese archipelago, Noto Peninsula is a part like a face when looking on the map.
It is out of the current sightseeing course because there is no railway and highway here.
However, here is the landscape beauty engraved with rough weather, and Japanese old houses that have not changed since long ago.
It's like a world heritage landscape, people have been living unchanged since long ago.
With declining population decades, the settlement may be gone.
Please visit us for sightseeing.
This is Ishikawa Prefecture where I am from.

The Aura of the “Kitamaebune” Maritime Trade Lingers in Kuroshima, Ishikawa Prefecture | Nippon.com
The city of Wajima on the Noto Peninsula (Ishikawa Prefecture) includes a district that was home to owners and captains of “kitamaebune,” ships engaged in maritime trade on the Sea of Japan (see note below). The district, called Kuroshima, was distinctive in that it was “tenryō,” meaning territory under the direct rule of the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period (1600–1868). Every August the local shrine, Wakamiya Hachimangū, holds a festival called Kuroshima Tenryō-sai during which two floats representing the castles of Osaka and Nagoya parade through the streets. Even today the area’s buildings preserve the look of days gone by, with black-tiled roofs, wood-paneled walls, and lattice doors. Of particular interest is the large Kadomi residence, which is open to the public. The government has designated Kuroshima an “important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings.” Formerly little known to outsiders, the area has become a popular tourist attraction.

Noto Shika Korogaki: Delectable Dried Persimmons from Ishikawa Prefecture | Nippon.com
Early every November, residents of Shika, a farming community on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, start working to prepare dried persimmons. The sight of the bright orange fruit hanging like window curtains in local homes is a reminder that winter is approaching. They are called “korogaki” in Japanese; “-gaki” is from “kaki” (persimmon), and “koro” is short for “korokoro,” an onomatopoetic word for rolling or rotating. The name alludes to the way growers spin the fruit as they knead it to soften the pulp. This is part of the traditional labor-intensive process that is maintained for the production of “korogaki.”
The most astringent variety of persimmons is used to make “korogaki.” The combination of sunlight and breezes from the sea removes the astringency and brings out the sweetness of the fruit. And the resulting product is a delectable treat of a soft brown color.
The Shika agricultural cooperative has branded this dried fruit “Noto Shika Korogaki,” and in 2016 the national government designated this local brand for official protection under its Geographical Indication system. Shika is known for the towering cliffs of the Noto Kongō Coast, but its “korogaki” are also establishing themselves as part of the community’s appeal.
