Introducing Shizuoka City
City of Shizuoka is a posting station of the old Tokaido* that closely connected with Tokugawa Ieyasu**. And also the city holds lots of cultural heritages together with a rich nature of Suruga gulf and the south Alps mountains.

The city located at the center of Shizuoka prefecture and the place is the center of administration, commerce, and economy. The city is surrounded by Mount Fuji, Nihondaira*, the south Alps mountains, and a rich fishery of Suruga gulf.

Historically, the city had been developed for the one of major posting station at Tokaido that connect the important north-south root of Japan during Edo period. There are quite few famous historical locations including Sunpu castle where Tokugawa Ieyasu had spend his late years, Kunozan Toshogu*, and the ruins of Toro.

Shizuoka City is popular for the sightseeing and events. Shizuoka Festival would be held during spring cherry blossom season, Abekawa Fire Works and Shimizu Port Festival for summer, Daido-Gei (street performance) World Cup in Shizuoka in fall. Also Shizuoka Hobby Show, that is the most popular toy show providing the latest and newest toys of Japan, attracts buyers from the world wide.
The place is also famous for B-class gourmet (dishes popular among ordinary people) of Shizuoka Oden, Sakura shrimp and young sardines from Suruga gulf, well-known unique cultivation of strawberry, Shizuoka green tea, Utogi Wasabi, and grated yam soup.

Kaikomagatake in the Minami Alps, Japan HD
Drove up Thursday night after work to park and camp at Kaku Shu Kanko Camp area. (elevation 770 meters) Hiked up to Nanajo Campsite and made that base camp. The water supplied by the hut taste like the water at the top of Kitadake. If you like a little fuel taste mixed with your water, you'll do great. (elevation 2,262 meters). Woke up and hit the summit of Kaikomagatake, (elevation 2,967 meters) hung out for a while and then back down to camp. Woke up and hiked out. This was a really fun trip with lots of chains and bouldering.

On the last few days in Japan, we bought a 3 day JR wide pass and snow trek in Galza Yuzawa, hike at Mt. Omuro, and cruise along the Kawaguchiko river with Fuji San on the background!
Ending the year with amazing company and great food are the combination that is heavenly. Thank you Litta and Peng again ????

静岡県沼津市の沼津駅の南側に南北に連なる沼津アルプスは、地元の愛好家によって整備されました。
この沼津アルプスの一番北に位置するのがカヌキヤマです。カヌキヤマから
南の大平山まで続く稜線を、全部つなげて歩くと、歩行時間は約６時間です。
クレイン山の会の2015年度４月例会は、ここ沼津アルプスのトレッキングで
した。
沼津アルプスは、標高４００ｍ以下の低山が連なる、山稜ですが、アップダウンが激しく山頂付近は急峻です。そうしたことから、全山縦走は、意外と手ごわく感じられると言われています。

大月から都留方面に抜ける際、大月市内から国道139号線を使うのですが、何気なく地図を見ていたところ、初狩駅から南に伸びている道路を発見。それが県道712号線です。
山梨県道712号線→山梨県道705号線を使って都留へと向かいました。

Our family visits the annual harbor festival at Mochimune Japan and brings home the catch of the day for an evening barbeque party! The small harbor town where the festival takes place is near the mouth of the Abe river, which spills mountain runoff from the rugged Japan Southern Alps into the deep waters of Suruga Bay. Marine life is abundant here and the large fishing fleet are the foundation of an active community of seafood merchants, popular restaurants and eager diners! The pre-dawn open air tuna market is a great place to get the best and freshest maguro sashimi!
