We had best time of our Africa trip on Zanzibar Island. It has the most magical beaches in the world.
So this vlog is all about our first day on Zanzibar Island and how we spent our leisure time at Homeland Swahili lodge and exploring Nungwi Beach. We played the fun games, relaxed on Hammocks and watch the most beautiful sunset at Nungwi Beach.

We specifically requested to stay in the north part of Zanzibar Island, Nungwi. We heard that the tide doesn't recede as much compared to the east and south side of the island. We also like Nungwi because there are many different accommodation options to suit every budget. There are a few restaurants, bars, cafes to pick from as well along the main beach which gives you more options if you like to explore.

We love Zanzibar because it has the most pristine, beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters and entirely accessible without taking boat rides. We love our tropical destinations because we are scuba divers, but we must say this is probably our favorite beach. We've been to many beaches in South East Asia, but many of the pristine beaches require boat rides to get to.

Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel - Luxury Relaxation in Zanzibar
Read my full review here: From Tanzania, we traveled to Zanzibar in order to travel around the island and to research for the upcoming Migrationology Zanzibar travel guide. In Nungwi we stayed at Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel, located on the East side of the village of Nungwi. The resort is located on a private stretch of Indian Ocean beach and offers extreme peace and quiet with great views of the ocean.
Our room faced the ocean, and we could sit on the patio and enjoy spectacular views. The rooms are set up with a little local Zanzibari flavor, and packed with comforting amenities. The Zanzibar style bed in the room at Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel, was indeed one of the most comfortable beds I slept in while on the island. Our room was also equipped with a fridge and mini bar, a hot water heat (useful because I love to sit around all day and drink coffee and tea), and a safe deposit box where I could put our valuables, and it was also big enough to fit my laptop when we'd go on an outdoor adventure.
On the east coast of Zanzibar, the high and low tides are drastically different, but both tides are beautiful in their own respect. At high tide, the water comes all the way up to Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel, crashing against the rocks. At low tide, the water declines way down the beach, creating a good opportunity to put on some reef walking shoes and explore the little pools of calm water.
Here are a few more thoughts about Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel: Incredibly quiet, Stunning views of the ocean, Beach is beautiful, but not the best for swimming, Staff are extremely helpful and service is outstanding, Everything is available on facility (self contained) - so if you wanted, you could do just about everything from Ras Nungwi - stay, eat, drink, dive, spa, tennis etc., there's also a pool table, ping pong table, foosball, and darts. Wi-fi is available only in the communal lounge, not in rooms, While security is very good at the hotel and on the beach in front of the hotel, if you wander in either direction (like towards Nungwi village), you've got to be careful of your belongings - only bring a little cash on you and a small camera. Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel caters to those looking for peace and relaxation, beautiful views of the ocean, and top notch service. It's the type of place you'll want to rotate from eating to reading a book to taking a swim - and repeat - and no one's going to say you're being lazy!

Nungwi Beach in Zanzibar Island - Tanzania 20 Feb 2019
Nungwi is a village at the northern end of the Tanzanian island of Unguja, familiarly called Zanzibar. It's known for the wide, palm-lined Nungwi Beach and a nearby boat-building yard for the production of traditional dhows. The Mnarani Marine Turtle Conservation Pond shelters green and hawksbill sea turtles in a tidal lagoon. Off the coast, coral reefs teeming with colorful fish include Hunga and Leven Bank.

Travelling through Tanzanian capital Dar-Es-Salaam with local taxi tuk tuk which is called bajaj in Tanzania and then taking a ferry to Zanzibar island.
From Zanzibar ferry terminal travelling together with the locals in a local Zanzibari bus called dala dala to Nungwi village. Nungwi has fantastic beaches as well as turtles conservation projects. There are at least two there and we went to both: turtles aquarium and conservation project. We have a separate video about turtles but thought to include it in this one as well for you to have the whole Nungwi story in one place.

Nungwi & Kendwa | Best Beaches in Zanzibar, Tanzania | Zanzibar VLOG 3
Third and last part of our Zanzibar trip. Stayed at Mnarani Beach Bungalows. First 2 night in an apartment room and the last 2 nights in a sea view bungalow. Nice hotel but the beach has strong tide. Therefore Kendwa is a MUST. While in Kendwa, we wandered around the local shops and free merchants on the beach. That beach.. is GORGEOUS!
Avoid the taxi drivers in the airport. Make sure you arrange your ride in advance to be picked up by the time you arrive in Zanzibar. See below for the bext taxi driver in Nungwi: Cab triver Alawi's Whatsapp: +255776522197

Zanzibar gezimizin üçüncü ve son kısmı. Mnarani Beach Bungalows'da kaldık. İlk iki gece 2 odalı bir apartman dairesi odada, son iki gece ise deniz manzaralı bir bungalowda kaldık. Otel güzel, ancak getgit çok kuvvetli olduğundan plajından denize girmek her saat mümkün değil. Bu sebeple de Kendwa'ya kesinlikle gidilmeli. Sahildeki dükkanları gezip seyyar satıcılardan deniz kabuklu kolyeler aldık. Bu arada, o sahil var ya... MUHTEŞEMDİ!

Running in Zanzibar: Nungwi Beach
This time we're off for a midday run on Nungwi Beach, which is on the northern tip of Zanzibar.
First off - we wouldn't suggest running in the middle of the day in Zanzibar. It is extremely hot, especially considering it's only 6 degree south of the equator.
But if you do plan on running, watch the tides in Nungwi - you'll need to wait until low tide to actually have some sand to run on!
To be completely honest, Kiwenga beach is much better for running - it's a huge beach, less people, and is packed down so much it's almost like running on pavement.

Tanzania Beach - Horse Riding
Previously: a simple fishing village and dhow-building center. Now: one of Africa's most picturesque lines of coast, where palms amble onto a beach that dissolves gradually from spearmint blue into shades of deep turquoise.
Highlight: At sunset, white-sailed dhows leave from the boatyard, making for a great photo op.
Nungwi, or Ras Nungwi is a large village located in the far northern end of the island of Zanzibar. With a population of about 5,563, Nungwi is the second- or third-largest settlement on the island, possibly smaller than Makunduchi.
Nungwi beach is relatively quiet during the day, but it also provides a wide range of water sports and things to do, including scuba diving, Jet Ski and paragliding along with other activities such as volleyball, craft lessons or the local village tour.
