I think my favorite thing to do in Lisbon is to take the Tram 28 after the city cleared out from all the day visitors to Lisbon. The streets then are empty and if the conductor is in a good mood, he'll blast up and down the hills of Lisbon.
Disclosure: I haven't sped up any of the footage!

Tram 28 explained ???????? Lisbon, Portugal Travel Vlog
The Tram 28 is one of the main attractions in Lisbon, Portugal. Over the years this tram became like an institution: it's rails follow the tourists path so even if most trams are disappearing because of the expansion of the undergroung metro, the Tram 28 became the top thing to do for all of us tourists and at times it is so packed that there is the feeling that it will never disappear: probably the citizen of Lisbon will never use it again, but us tourists always will!

TRAVEL PORTUGAL | LISBON TRAM 28 ????????
When traveling to Portugal, don´t forget to take Lisbon Tram 28.
One of the things worthwhile when visiting Lisbon is to take a stroll with Tram 28. To avoid spending excessive time on the tour should enjoy the hour of dusk, with the city calmer. That's what we did and so some images did not get the ideal exposure :-).
The ride looks more like a roller coaster full of ups and downs. To start the tour you can take tram 28 in Prazeres (Campo de Ourique) and in this case ends at Martim Moniz. You can also do the reverse.

LISBON: Chiado & Bairro Alto districts (3/5) Portugal
CHIADO is a traditional shopping area that mixes old and modern commercial establishments, mostly located at the Rua do Carmo and Rua Garrett. The Chiado is also an important cultural area, with several museums and theatres. Chiado is the name of a square and its surrounding area in Lisbon/Lisboa (Portugal). The Chiado is located between the neighbourhoods of Bairro Alto and Baixa Pombalina.
In 1988, the Chiado area was severely affected by a fire, when 18 buildings were partially or totally destroyed. Thanks to a renovation project that lasted more than 10 years, the affected area has now virtually recovered.
The Santa Justa Lift (Portugese: Elevador de Santa Justa) is an elevator, or lift, in Lisbon and connects the higher Largo do Carmo with the lower streets of the Baixa.
The Convento da Ordem do Carmo (English: Convent of Our Lady of Mount Carmel) is a former-Roman Catholic convent. The medieval convent was ruined during the sequence of the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, and the destroyed Gothic Church of Igreja do Carmo on the southern facade of the convent is the main trace of the great earthquake still visible in the old city. The Carmo Convent and its Church were built between 1389 and 1423. It is located in the Chiado neighbourhood, on a hill overlooking the Rossio square and facing the Lisbon Castle hill. It is located in front of a quiet square Largo do Carmo, very close to the Santa Justa Lift. Nowadays the ruined Carmo Church is used as an archaeological museum (Museu Arqueológico do Carmo).
__________________________________________
BAIRRO ALTO (literally: Upper District) is a central district of the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Unlike many of the civil parishes of Lisbon, this region can be commonly explained as a loose association of neighbourhoods, with no formal local political authority but social and historical significance to the urban community of Lisbon.
In the last decades of the 20th century, there was a significant socio-cultural dynamic in the area, as a great part of the nightlife became dependent on the restaurants and bars of the quarter. Lisbon's city council made extensive remodelling and repairs to the district, resulting in the opening of new restaurants, clubs and trendy shops. While cars were restricted in the district (except for residents and emergency vehicles), many young people began to live in the Bairro; it is generally a youth-oriented heart of the sub-culture and nightlife of Lisbon.
The Bairro Alto district is generally delimited in the south by the Calçada do Combro and Rua do Loreto, west by Rua de O Século, north by Rua D. Pedro V and east by Rua da Misericórdia and Rua São Pedro de Alcântara. It is, topographically, a plateau with medium elevation of 76 metres (249 ft) terminating in the north, with accentuated slope towards the south.
The Glória Funicular (Portuguese: Ascensor da Glória) is a funicular railway line in the parish of Santo António (Lisbon), operated by Carris. It connects the Bairro Alto district with the Pombaline downtown (at the Restauradores Square. The tram system is situated along an axis that slopes 17.7%, that extends from the Avenida da Liberdade to the Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara, crossing a built-up area of 19th century buildings, including the Palácio Foz and the Misericórdia of Lisboa. The funicular includes two cars that operate parallel along two axes, that descend and climb simultaneously.
June 18 & 22, 2017
Lisbon Trams 1997
Because of steep hills, tight curves and narrow streets, some routes continue to use short wheelbase four wheel trams called remodelados. The origins of these go back to the beginning of the 20th century. Successive rebuilds in the 1930s, 1950s and 1990s have used components from trams first delivered in 1901. Routes 12, 18, 25 & 28 use 4 wheel trams, route 15 uses modern low-floor articulated types. Route 28 has gradients as steep as 1:6.9, said to be the steepest adhesion street tramway in the world. Clearances between trams and parked vehicles can be measured in inches in some of the narrow streets. Lisbon is famous for ceramic tiles, many different patterns can be found decorating the buildings. Also included is an English Electric diesel loco shunting freight and a few shots of the Lisbon metro.
Route 12 - Praça Figueira to Praça Figueira (Alfama loop)
Route 15 - Praça Figueira to Algés (articulated trams)
Connects central Lisbon (Baixa) to the Belem district, the Lxfactory and the Santo Docks.
Route 18 - Cais Sodré to Cemitério Ajuda
This route heads into Ajuda district and passes the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda and the Jardim Botânico d' Ajuda gardens.
Route 28 - Martim Moniz to Campo Ourique (Prazeres)
This spectacular route passes through Graca and Alfama, it also connects Baixa to the Estrela district.
[4K] LISBON, PORTUGAL WALKING TOUR- Restaurant and shopping area
How do we afford to travel so often? We're lucky enough to stay for almost free in every city, using
Explore Lisbon's central shopping and restaurant area as if you were there, in this 4k tour.
We start at the intersection of Largo do Chiado and R.Garrett, in the district of Baixa-Chiado by the entrance to the Chiado Metro station.
We walk past two famous statues, Escultura de Fernando Pessoa and Estátua de António Ribeiro before heading down this pretty Lisbon shopping area.
Sometimes, one of the best things to do in Lisbon is to walk it's charming streets. The Bertrand Bookshop on the corner of R. Anchieta is covered in stunning blue tiles, and it leads us down to the Armazéns do Chiado shopping centre at the end of the street.
Here we turn left down R. do Carmo to see the famous Santa Justa Lift (Elevador de Santa Justa) crossing above us.
Folowing R. de Santa Justa we cross the busy R. Áurea and head down Rua dos Correiros - where we see some great restaurants and more beautiful tiled buildings.
Turning onto R. Augusta with it's intricately tiled pavement, our eye is led towards the great arch known as Arco da Rua Augusta.

Exploring Lisbon PORTUGAL | Best Capital City In Europe
We go exploring Lisbon, PORTUGAL's capital city, possibly the best Capital City In Europe.
➡️ Follow Uncle Omar on IG
➡️ Follow Tia Jael on IG
We cover some of the coolest things to do in Lisbon especially if you only have 1 day to explore. It really feels like an underrated city, despite being high season and summer time, Lisbon doesn't feel that crowded just yet and for that reason, Lisbon was much better than we thought it would be.
We go see the Cristo Rei statue and the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge which is almost a direct copy of the San Francisco golden gate bridge.
Then it's off to one of Lisbon's beaches for lunch at Flor De Sal restaurante.
Next was the Jeronimo monastery and then the Belem tower.
We had fun riding the Circ scooters which are controlled by an app and you can just leave them anywhere in the city.
Finishing up with a ride up Avenue da Liberdade and the Miradouro Parque Eduardo VII.
Lisbon won a spot in our hearts today !

Our visit Lisbon travel guide covers some of the top attractions including the best in arts, entertainment, museums, nightlife and restaurants. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't find in your typical tourism brochure or Lisbon city guide.
20 things to do in Lisbon, Portugal | Top Attractions Travel Guide:
Our first stop of the day was Sao Jorge Castle, which is an old Moorish fortification that sits on a hill overlooking Lisbon and the Tagus River. You can get some nice panoramic views of the city from here, and they also have peacocks roaming the grounds.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol is one of the many look out points in Lisbon that offers postcard-perfect views of the city. This particular terrace overlooks the Alfama district and it is always popular with tourists.
Carmo is a mediaeval convent that was ruined during the 1755 earthquake, and today it is used as an archaeological museum. It's a strange feeling walking down the ruined nave of the church and seeing blue skies above your head, but that's exactly what makes it worth a visit.
Another place to visit is Belem Tower. The tower was built on the banks of the Tagus River, and it was meant to act as both a defense system and a ceremonial gateway into Lisbon.
The Jeronimos Monastery is one of the most visited sights in Lisbon. It's one of the best examples of Late Gothic Manueline architecture, so have a close look at the intricate detailing when you visit.
A fun way to get around Lisbon's hilly streets is by riding the trams. There are different lines across the city, but #28 is the most popular one with visitors.
The Santa Justa lift is an elevator that connects the lower streets of Baixa with Carmo Square, and it is the only remaining vertical elevator in Lisbon. Though it is meant to serve a functional role, it is also quite popular with visitors who find the elevator a novel idea.
And that's a wrap for our week in the Portuguese capital! We hope you enjoyed this video and that it gave you some ideas of things to do in Lisbon. As always, if you have any other suggestion for travellers of places to visit and things to do around town, feel free to share them in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels!
This is part of our Travel in Portugal series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Portuguese culture, Portuguese arts, Portuguese foods, Portuguese religion, Portuguese cuisine and Portuguese people.

Lisbon, Portugal in Timelapse
Lisbon, Portugal in Timelapse, by WanderTooth. Oh Lisbon how I loved you! Lisbon is just so cool! One of the world's most devastating earthquakes struck just off the coast on November 1st, 1755. Castles crumbled, tsunamis flooded and what wasn't washed away burned for days. The rebuild was a time to implement new architecture and new civil planning measures to help withstand future disasters. Some say this earthquake spawned the current methods we use to measure and study earthquakes today. This 'Pombaline' architecture and the grid system employed at the time makes for an easy and enjoyable stroll around Lisbon's old town near the water. The large Commerce Square is a great vantage point and a great spot for a bite. Up the hill is the castle which gives 360 degree views and can fill up a cameras memory card rather quickly! The #28 tram encircles the city and is well worth a round-trip. Personally I found the Coach Museum containing all he old royal coaches and some artwork and uniforms from eras long past worth the 5 Euros and a bonus that it's close to the Belem Tower and the Monastery and launching point for Vasco De Gama. Don't Miss it! Do not leave Lisbon without seeing a Fado show - if possible ask a local for a good spot away from the 'tourist' shows if you can. Check out WanderTooth.com for more, now GO! ENJOY!
