Oasis Camel Dairy The Bird Show 2010
On December 12, 2010 the Oasis Camel Dairy hosted a pomegranate day where the public was invited to feed the camels. The weather was simply gorgeous, around 80 degrees with a light breeze.
Gil and Nancy Riegler the owners of the dairy are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They take outstanding care of these animals, and you can see how much they love what they do.

Eating in Ramona
Family holiday to California! First port of call was Ramona. We ate at two very good local restaurants: D'Carlos and Kountry Kitchen. Find out our opinions about the food in the video!
Forgive any small mistakes, it was our first time vlogging food again after a long hiatus, so we were rusty to say the least! Hopefully, you'll see the quality of content improve as we go along our foodie holiday!
Note: Cordon Bleu is NOT a cheese, as I had mistakenly alluded to in the video... it is in fact simply the name of the recipe, which uses Swiss cheese! The other mistake I made was calling Philadelphia a state (eegit)! Although I was right about it being on the other side of America to California! I also wrongly criticised American food of not coming with much vegetables... Actually, after that initial meal most of our subsequent meals came with sufficent vegetables, so I apologise for being a bit too presumptuous there!!
Anywho, enjoy the video and there'll be more to come!

Rando Rides Camels To Yaqui Pass
San Diego Randonneurs ride the Camels To Yaqui Pass Permanent. 200K/124miles with 9900' climbing.
Starting in Ramona, the route climbs Old Julian Hwy. to Santa Ysabel, then it's up Mesa Grande, followed by a twisty descent to the Lake Henshaw cafe. Next, it a fast ride on smooth Hwy. 79, turn right on S2 with climbing rollers to Ranchita, followed by a super downhill to Borrego Springs via Montezuma Grade.
Up Yaqui Pass and then out to Stagecoach Trails for the return trip to Scissor Crossing and up Banner Grade to Julian. Lots of downhills via Old Julian Hwy. back to Ramona. Best ridden in the spring or fall. Expect winds, wide variation of temps and lots of climbing. It's a good one.... rando rides again!
8/1/13 CAMEL MAN with a GLASS of CAMEL MILK STRAIGHT OUT of the CAMEL

This guy & his wife has a camel farm near san diego (oasis camel farm, see )...says that camels are different than cows in terms of milking..they will only give milk to their OWN babies..and only if the environment is right...and tthen for only about 90 seconds at a time..so milking them for commercial purposes is a little more tricky..and they are one of the few in the united states to actually do so..they make some lip balm and a few other products from the camel milk, but not yet milk for drinking (although it sounds like that's something planned for the future if they can work it out). These were one-hump camels (ie dromedary)) as opposed to two-hump (bactrian)...and you need a saddle to ride them (saddles shown at end of this video) . One of the camels still had some of it's winter fur on its back which he says he left on to show how easy it is to pull off..and pulled out a small swatch. /////// GREETINGS ! WELCOME ! Up close & personal with Willie the Camel
While we were at Blisswood, in Cat Spring, TX, we had the opportunity to feed Willie the Camel. He's recovering nicely, after being nearly starved to death. Brandi & Mike are taking good care of him & he's becoming friendly and healthier. Here he runs to us as his feed is dumped into his trough in the barn.
