Manpuku-ji - Kyoto - 萬福寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Manpuku-ji is the head temple of the Zen Obaku sect and also located in in Uji, near the center of Kyoto. While extremely popular among Japanese people, Manpukuji was created fairly recently in 1661, only 7 years after the Obaku sect, originally from China, came to Japan.
Because of its Obaku sect origins, Manpuku-ji’s architecture is heavily influenced by the architectural style of China's contemporary Ming Dynasty, and retains a much more Chinese appearance than other Buddhist temples in Japan. Finally, but unfortunately very difficult for most of us to witness, the temple grounds are laid out in the shape of a dragon when viewed from above.

宇治平等院の帰りに、黄檗駅から、萬福寺に立ち寄りました。異国情緒溢れる場所でした。
The Temple of Good Fortune and Happiness: Manpuku-ji!
Manpuku-ji Temple was established by the Chinese Zen priest Ingen during the beginning of Edo Period. The temple retains its original appearance as when established. Since this is the main temple of the Obaku Sect, which was started by the famous Chinese priest, the precincts are designed in the Chinese style. Beyond the main temple gate are Chinese-style buildings, so that it seems to the visitor that he or she is in China. Also at Manpuku-ji Temple the visitor can enjoy Fucha-ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) and practice zazen and hand - copying of a sutra. Obaku is one of the three great Zen sects of Japan.

隠元禅師が乞われて明から日本に渡ったのは江戸時代（1654年）のことでした
黄檗宗が隠元禅師の伝えた新しい禅宗であり、京都宇治の萬福寺は隠元禅師のために建てられた寺で黄檗宗の大本山です
蝉の声を聴きながら静かな境内を散策し、普茶料理もいただいてきました

2018年11月24日に撮影。最初、お寺で掲示された拝観順路とは逆にうっかり見て回り、その後、再度見て回りましたので、映像が重複していますので、予めご了解下さい。
なお、萬福寺は数箇所で修復工事中でした。
黄檗宗は 臨済宗、曹洞宗と並ぶ日本の禅宗の宗派です。

ナン十年振りかで、黄檗の万福寺へ行き、初心でターゲットに向かうことが出来ました。

１６６１年に開創され、その建造物は中国の明朝様式の伽藍配置で当時のままの姿を今に伝えています。
