Obi Nichinan Miyazaki Kyushu JAPAN
The Obi district 飫肥, in the center of Nichinan 日南市 city, used to be a small castle town nicknamed 'Little Kyoto'.
Obi Castle 飫肥城. The main gate of the castle was restored with 100-year-old Obi cedar in 1978. Within the castle, the samurai’s mansion, the storehouse, and the white-walled merchant building still remain.
You will often find yourself alone, feeling faintly contrite at having so much space in a country where tourists are accustomed to being shoehorned into such places.
Obi is quite unaffected by mainstream tourism.
There can be very few places of historical or cultural interest in Japan that remain positively underexploited for their tourist potential.
Regarded by many as the cradle of Japanese civilization, Miyazaki prefecture is a wonderful place full of historically significant sites. One of the most beautiful and picturesque of these is Obi town, in Nichinan city.

The town of Obi flourished as the castle town of Lord Ito for the 280 years from 1588 to the early Meiji period. The town was protected on three sides by the Sakatani river
The castle and town were completely refurbished in the late 1970s. Currently, they are authentically reflective of a castle town dating from the Edo period. Throughout Japan, there are many towns nicknamed “Little Kyoto” for their old-fashioned streets and nostalgic feeling. Kyushu’s very own Little Kyoto is Obi.
The Obi Castle Historical Museum exhibits valuable artefacts of the Ito family. There are many swords and armor from the Warring States period. Matsuo no Maru is a replica of a lord's residence during the early Edo period built in 1979. Yoshokan is the home of the Ito Clan's head, built in 1869.

Kiyosumi Garden Tokyo JAPAN
Kiyosumi Garden 清澄庭園 is a traditional Japanese stroll garden located in Fukagawa, Tokyo. It was constructed along classic principles in 1878-85, during the Meiji Period, by the shipping financier and industrialist Iwasaki Yatarō. By subtle hints in path construction and placement the visitor is led on a walk around the lake. Water-worn boulders were brought in from all over Japan, to give the garden its character; hills and dry waterfalls were constructed with them and two sequences of them form stepping-stones across small inlets of the lake, which almost completely fills the garden, allowing a pathway of many picturesque episodes around its perimeter. There are three big islands and a teahouse on the pond. The garden covers an area of about 81,000 square metres.

Japan Study Abroad - Day 03 - A display inside of Osaka Castle
May 14, 2014. Inside Osaka Castle. Many of the floors photography wasn't allowed, but this floor was ok. I saw some Japanese people taking pictures, and I almost went up to them and said しゃしん お とって は いけません!, (You must not take pictures here). But it didn't seem my place so I left them alone. Good thing too because a few moments later I noticed that this floor didn't have any signs prohibiting photography like the other floors did.
