“I just thought from then on, ‘this is something for me’” The Willows and New Bury Theatre Groups
Through a great partnership with housing association Bolton At Home, the Octagon has had the opportunity to work with tenants at the Willows and New Bury housing estates in Bolton. The groups have worked alongside theatre professionals, developing interest and ability in performance, creative writing, production and direction, in addition to building confidence and communication skills, and achieving qualifications.
The Willows Project has been running for nearly three years, whilst the New Bury Melodramatics group is about to celebrate its first birthday. As you'll see in the short film, created by The Box TV, the progress, both personal and creative, has been astounding. It has been, and continues to be, an incredibly valuable experience for us all.
