The ODEON THEATRE, Stamford Road, off Kingsland Road, DALSTON London N.1. Architects Andrew Mather with Keith P. Roberts. Opened Monday 1st May 1939 with 2064 seats.

The ODEON THEATRE, Dickson Road, BLACKPOOL, Lancashire. Opened Saturday 6th May 1939 with 3088 seats at a cost of £82,500. Architects Harry Weedon and W. Calder Robinson.

The ODEON THEATRE, Croydon Road, Elmers End Green, ELMERS END, Beckenham, Kent. Opened Saturday 26th August 1939. Architect Keith P. Roberts (for Anrew Mather office) who provided 1518 seats.

CITYGATE CHURCH: THE STORY

Citygate Church began in a Drama Studio in a local school with just 13 people and a big vision - to powerfully affect our generation through a relevant demonstration of faith and love.

It soon became clear that a better venue was needed; Citygate first used a function room above a restaurant, and then moved to a local Church Hall as temporary home until 2002. At that point, and with only 60 partners, Citygate miraculously purchased and renovated the local town centre post office depot, which is now used as the main church complex. The extent and excellence of this first major project is a clear demonstration of the powerful spirit of faith and provision, which is very much evident in the church today.

From that time until now Citygate has continued to grow into a healthy, modern, multicultural church impacting the lives of hundreds every week!

Our message is simple; we desire that people from all walks of life, background and ethnicity come to Know God personally, Find Freedom in every area of life, Discover their specific Purpose and therefore Make a Difference in their world!

God is at work in Citygate Church. We invite you to see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to go after God with passion!

Beckenham

Beckenham is a town in south east London within the London Borough of Bromley, England. It borders the London Borough of Lewisham. It lies north west of Bromley and is located 8.4 miles (13.5 km) south east of Charing Cross. Until the coming of the railway in 1857, Beckenham was a small village in the county of Kent with almost completely rural surroundings: once a family of entrepreneurs began the building of villas here, its population soared from 2,000 to 26,000 during 1850–1900 and throughout the rest of the twentieth century. The current population is nearly 82,000. Beckenham forms part of London suburbia, but it is a town in its own right, and some of the grand houses of the early days remain.

Movie Palaces #122 - The Odeon Theatre, Station Road, South Norwood, London SE25 opened the same day as the Odeon Crewe Monday 26th July 1937. The architect, Andrew Mather, provided 1572 seats in stalls and balcony at a cost of £31,562. Closed and Demolished in 1971.
