Yeosu
[Basic info]
Yeosu is a city located on the southern coast of Korea in South Jeolla Province.
The city of Yeosu consists of the Yeosu peninsula as well as 317 islands.
Thanks to the sea wind and warm current, Yeosu has cool summers and mild winters. Its ocean climate also brings Yeosu relatively longer springs and autumns than other regions. Yeosu is a city of history and loyalty where the headquarters of South Jeolla Province Navy Base was located, and the Great Admiral Yi Sun Shin improved upon the Geobukseon (turtle ship) to save the country while serving as the Navy Commander. -wikipedia

Population: 118,910 (in 2016)

It runs along the breakwater of 1,200 meters and takes you to the island in 7 minutes.
A one-way ticket is 800 won per person.

The beautiful Odongdo Island was selected as Korea's top 100 beautiful roads.
The island is also a part of the Hallyeohaesang National Park. When it comes to camellia flowers, Odongdo Island in Yeosu is the first place to go. Over 3,000 camellia trees start to bloom in January and the flowers fully blossom in March.

Odongdo lighthouse first began its’ operation in 1952. The lighthouse not only helps the ships coming in and out of Yeosu harbor and Gwangyang harbor, but also attracts over 200,000 visitors every year.

The Yeosu Diaries | Korea Travel Vlog
Back in March, I visited the coastal city of Yeosu! Although we only stayed for the weekend, we were able to visit a couple tourist spots. Yeosu is a popular summer travel destination. If you want to enjoy the small city when it's a little less crowded, I suggest going in March or early spring to avoid the large crowds and tourist. I've listed all the attractions and places we visited below. All are a within walking distance from each other, which makes it convenient and cost effective for all budget conscious travellers.

Best places in Korea - Yeosu
Part 1 of our overnight trip to Yeosu and Suncheon. Mavic Pro aerial shots of beach and harbor areas. An incredibly beautiful seaside city with plenty of fun and inexpensive things to do. We got around by taxi which was easy and affordable.

ECA2 BIG-O Show Thea Awards 2012 - Yeosu International Expo, South Korea
BIG-O is one of the latest breathtaking multimedia installations of its kind in the world. Using world-class technology and breakthrough technical infrastructure, BIG-O is a show that fuses cutting edge technology with show creation while complementing the surrounding sea water lagoon with a permanent iconic structure, towering over the Expo Site. This installation has clearly broken new grounds in the events industry and more recently the government of Yeosu has requested that the show now operates twice daily, due to the great feedback received by the viewers.
BIG-O, impressively stands alone as an iconic giant sculpture gleaming under the sun during the day however it transforms into an immersive show by night that plunges the audience into the heart of a multi sensory narrative. This narrative, which acts as a metaphoric vehicle, transports the people through a visual journey with innovative, breathtaking and original multimedia effects. BIG-O has broken new grounds in show technology with new research and development conducted for the largest sea water curtain ever attempted in a multimedia show. Countless hours went into the design, testing and fabrication of the new pressurized water nozzles and custom made housings and show technical structures, that gave the ECA2 engineers the ability to use various existing show elements like lighting, flames, lasers, video projections and incorporate them on to a fixed structure, in a way never seen or attempted before anywhere in the world.
Journey to Yeosu
With less than a month to go before Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, some international journalists from major media outlets made an official visit to the Expo site April 15-21 to experience the world-class Expo facilities and Korean culture for themselves.
The group began their itinerary with a visit to the Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute to increase their understanding of the marine-themed international event. During this seven-day program, the group toured the Expo grounds and nearby tourist attractions, including Odongdo, Jinnam-gwan and Hyangiram. They also spent some time in Seoul to take part in culture-experience programs, visiting old palaces and the National Museum of Korea as well as catching a performance of Nanta.

Yeosu and Namhae, South Korea 여수 남해 여행
This video is the first of my two part my summer vacation road trip. I visited the cities of Yeosu and Namhae in the southern region of Korea. Follow me as I roam through these cities. In Yeosu, I walked around Odongdo island, rode a cable car, went to the Expo center, walked through an underwater tunnel at Aqua Planet, visited Hyangriam Hermitage and tried their signature soy sauce crabs. In Namhae, I went to the beautiful Boriam temple, stopped by the famous Daraengie Village, and had a relaxing time at Kunst Lounge cafe in the German Village.
