Hi everyone! Long time no upload :* Missed you all! I recently went to a Korean traditional village that was so peaceful!! I totally recommend it to anyone who likes greenery and need to get away from the city :)
It's smaller than the famous Korean Folk Village in Yongin but much cheaper at only $2 per person!

Old Traditional Korean Village - Oeam Folk Village (외암민속마을) - Asan, Korea - Vlog 19
Oeam Folk Village and spending time with my friends at their house in the country was definitely my favorite part of my entire Korea trip. Here you can see what Korea used to look like roughly 500 years ago, and is considered to be one of the most well preserved traditional villages left in Korea. In the spring you can see this place scattered with flowers, but the dry winter definitely adds it’s own charm and beauty.
The houses in the beginning were used mostly by the upper class, and the straw roofed houses during the second half were mostly used by the middle and lower class.
Seeing how people live everyday has always been more interesting to me than just the touristy stuff.

Asan Oeam Folk Village
Asan in Chungnam Province is
located in the mid-western
region of the Korean Peninsula.
In Asan, there is Oeam Folk
Village, preserved as it was
in old times.
The entire village has a
peaceful aura as if time
has stopped.
The most unique feature of
the village is its stone walls.
The paths between those walls
are small and affectionate.
There are tile-roofed houses
that boast histories that span
a century or more.
Large yards and distinctive
gardens demonstrate the
lifestyles of that time.
It feels as if any moment,
an old Korean scholar will
walk out of the doors.
Try out the various traditional
culture programs available
in the village.
If you want a special memory
that you will never forget,
try the traditional marriage
experience.
Marriages have always been
considered a celebration to
be shared by the whole village.
Even though there is no white
wedding gown, the ceremony
exudes a unique Korean beauty.
Another program is making
traditional Korean hand mirrors.
You can make beetle-shaped
mirrors with colorful hanji,
Korean paper.
The mirrors are even more
special because they are one
of a kind.
There are also other programs
including ironing clothes
with wooden sticks and making
prayer poles.
The time spent here will be
an important part of
understanding Korean culture.
To learn about the lifestyles
of Korean ancestors, head over
to the Onyang Folk Museum.
Visitors can learn about food,
clothing, shelter and lives of
Koreans with 17,000 artifacts
on display.
The old house of Maeng Sa-seong
has been preserved over hundreds
of years.
The traces of time can be seen
on the the 600-year-old
ginkgo tree.
Let's visit Hyeonchoongsa with
the portrait of Admiral
Lee Sun-shin, one of the most
revered historical figures
in Korea.
Admiral Lee distinguished
himself in battle against the
Japanese in the late 1500's.
Lee, who protected his country
with his intellect and
leadership, remains a role
model for many people
to this day.
In Oeam Folk Village where
people of the present times
live their daily lives in the
historical past, feel
the essence of Korea's
tradition and culture.

Do you see YouTube videos about how amazing Seoul is, how beautiful Busan is, how hot and great Daegu is? Have you seen any videos about Asan, Chungcheongnam-do? Most likely not. I am here to show you a little of where I am living at the time. It’s about 2 hours south of Seoul and many things to do. There are lots of events and places to visit. In my immediate location there is a popular spa, Dogo Paradise Spa. This place has a waterpark and a bath house. The waterpark has pools, a lazy river, a wave pool, and so much more! The spa is a fantastic place to go have fun and or relax. Asan is famous for its hot spring. The Dogo spa is fed by the hot spring as well as many other places in the area. Outside of the Onyang Oncheon station, there is a foot bath that is also fed by the hot spring. There are two foot bath locations outside of the train station. It was a great treat after walking around all day to help relax your feet. A few other places you can visit are the Independence Hall, and the Sapphire Village. These are only a few of the many places you can visit while in the Chungcheongnam-do area! I hope that you come out and visit and let me know what place you visit and what you think about it! Where History, Folk Heritage and Ecology Still Prevail
삼한시대 마한땅, 백제 때 파지성, 고려 때 낙안군 고을터며, 조선시대 성과 동헌, 객사, 임경업장군비, 장터, 초가가 원형대로 보존되어, 성과 마을이 함께 국내 최초로 사적 제302호에 지정되었다. 조선 태조 6년(1397) 왜구가 침입하자 이 고장 출신 양혜공 김빈길 장군이 의병을 일으켜 토성을 쌓아 방어에 나섰고 300년 후, 인조 4년(1626) 충민공 임경업 장군이 낙안 군수로 부임하여 현재의 석성으로 중수했다. 다른 지역 성과는 달리 넓은 평야 지대에 1~2m 크기의 정방형의 자연석을 이용하여 높이 4m, 너비 3~4m, 성곽 총길이가 1,410m로 동내, 남내, 서내 등 3개 마을 생활근거지를 감싸안은 듯 장방형으로 견고하게 축조되어, 400년이 가까운 지금도 끊긴 데가 없고 웅장하기 이를 데 없다. 지금도 많은 세대가 실제 생활하고 있는 민속 고유의 전통마을로서, 민속학술자료는 물론 역사의 산교육장으로 가치를 인정받고 있다. 동문을 비롯 서, 남문을 통해 성 안에 들어서면 사극 촬영장이 아닌가 하는 착각에 빠져들며(사극 용의 눈물, 태조왕건 등 촬영장소) 용인, 제주민속마을과 같은 전시용이나 안동 하회마을과 같이 양반마을도 아닌, 그저 대다수의 우리 서민들이 살아왔던 옛 그대로의 모습이기에 조상들의 체취가 물씬 풍겨 친근한 정감이 넘친다. 남부 지방의 독특한 주거양식인 툇마루와 부엌, 토방, 지붕, 섬돌 위의 장독, 이웃과 이웃을 잇는 돌담은 모나지도, 높지도 않고, 담장이와 호박넝쿨이 어우러져 술래잡기하며 뛰놀던 어린시절 마음의 고향을 연상케 한다.
