Made our way into BC and stopped at Revelstoke for a snack & more coffee.. & stumbled upon a farmers market and car show. Finally we made it to Kelowna to meet up with Michael's family at The Cove Lakeside Resort in West Kelowna - hung out by the pool, had dinner and made s'mores. The next morning we decided to stop in at a couple winery's in Kelowna, Quails' Gate and Off The Grid, before heading home to Vancouver.

Benefits of Canning Your Own Food
In these modern times most people buy much of their food in cans or bottles that were packed at a factory, but in olden times canning was done by families who often both produced and canned their own food.
As European settlers began arriving in the Okanagan, they brought the concept of canning fruits and vegetables as a means of preserving food, long before electricity and refrigeration made its way to the Canadian wild west.
In this episode, Wild Food host Tracey Bonneau and her guest, actor and friend Justin Rain, take a tour of the spectacular Covert Farms property in Oliver, BC. This organic farm and winery is a major tourism destination in Canada, and one of the most famous organic farms in North America, situated below the magnificent cliff face of the McIntyre Bluffs.
Manager Derek Uhlemann takes the pair on a tour of the 700 acre property where they grow organic grapes, vegetables and fruit, and demonstrate how the farmers have re-established the natural landscape of the area.
Later, Tracey and Justin join Chris Van Hooydonk at nearby Backyard Farms where the acclaimed chef shows advanced techniques for spectacular home canned vegetables and fruits.
How To Transform Your Bar to Farm to Table
I'm a big farm of farm to table restaurants. but very disappointing at these same restaurants because their bar selections are the total opposite. The beer, wine and spirit revolution is here. Tell restaurants that the mass produced stuff is crap. Drink Indy!

How to Get Rid of No See Ums
More info about No See Ums -
How to Get Rid of No See Ums
No See Ums are tiny flies that prove to be some of the most annoying pests imaginable. They’re also referred to as sandflies. They belong to a family of flies called Ceratopogonidae. Measuring between 1-3mm long, they are much smaller than mosquitoes but far more vicious. Like mosquitoes, they suck human blood but their bites usually are more painful leaving itchy, red welts or worse, lesions, if you have an allergic reaction.
How to Repel No See Ums
1. Get Rid Of Unsealed Water Contains
Water sources are a vital part of a no see ums life cycle. Female midges lay eggs on surfaces containing moisture. For this reason, remove or seal water containers. Manage any standing water that may be present in your yard, for instance in puddles, fountains, tires or so forth.
2. Use No See Um Screens
Since these no see ums are extremely tiny, regular mosquito screens won't work. Use screens or netting designed with smaller mesh to prevent female no see ums from entering your home. Be sure to place screens on patio, doors and windows and check them regularly to verify they are in good condition.
3. Use Repellants to Prevent Bites
Repellants can be very useful when it comes to getting rid of no see ums. Rub or spray repellents containing DEET, for instance, to make you unappealing to female midges.
4. Kill No See Ums with Insecticides
Insecticides have proven to have varying degrees of success when it comes to killing no see ums. When used with caution, Insecticides can help in reducing the effects of an infestation.
5. Turn on Fans
Crank up those fans to full speed. Since no see ums are not strong fliers, ceiling or standing fans will help keep them away.
6. Switch off Lights
The females of the Culicodes species are attracted to light, so turn off the lights a bit earlier than usual. You’ll save a bit on your energy bill and best of all avoid those biting midges!
7. Wear Clothes with Long Sleeves
Long sleeves and jeans will protect your skin from exposure. Also, wear socks to protect your feet from those itchy bites. You don’t have to see ‘em to get rid of no see ums! Though they are difficult to totally eradicate, simple steps like the ones mentioned can help you avoid getting bitten.
Keremeos Music Talent in January
Beautiful country between Osoyoos & Keremeos. The little town reminds me of early Vancouver, where you could talk to many people from the prairies, town distances were in miles, & the hall was spelled Center. We all had a good time at a the music jam.
