'Artist Rooms - Joseph Beuys' Promos (National Museum Cardiff)
I worked on a series of adverts to promote the 'Artist Rooms - Joseph Beuys' exhibition at the National Museum Cardiff. The museum wanted us to specifically target young people or those who had not thought much about art before. We had a hard time trying to promote contemporary art through the adverts, as you can imagine. I will agree that they are a little cringey. To top it off, I'm not even a fan of most late art.
Places to see in ( Tenby - UK )
Places to see in ( Tenby - UK )
Tenby is a walled seaside town in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, on the western side of Carmarthen Bay, and the name for the local government community of Tenby.
Notable features of Tenby include 2.5 miles (4.0 km) of sandy beaches; the 13th century medieval town walls, including the Five Arches barbican gatehouse; the 15th century St. Mary's Church; the Tudor Merchant's House (National Trust); Tenby Museum and Art Gallery; and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, part of Wales' only coastal National Park. Boats sail from Tenby's harbour to the offshore monastic Caldey Island, while St Catherine's Island is a tidal island. The town is served by Tenby railway station.
Tenby is a busy holiday resort in the summer. The relatively unspoilt beaches and historic town walls make it a notable seaside resort. Most shops, pubs and restaurants in Tenby are specifically marketed to tourists. There are coastal boat trips to offshore islands and the town is a base for exploration of Pembrokeshire. The annual Ironman Wales competition extends the visitor season into September.
The A478 accesses the town of Tenby , connected via the A477, A40 and A48 roads to the M4 Motorway some 40 miles (64 km) away. Tenby railway station is maintained and served by Arriva Trains Wales, with regular hourly services to Swansea and onwards to London Paddington via First Great Western. During peak season, trains run direct from Paddington to Tenby. The nearest airport is Cardiff International, reached via either road or rail.

Watch walk-through footage of Foster + Partners' Stirling Prize winning Bloomberg HQ
See inside the Foster + Partners Bloomberg HQ, which won the 2018 Stirling Prize, in this movie created by RIBA.
In the third win for the practice, Foster + Partners' Bloomberg HQ saw off competition from the five other shortlisted projects to win the award for the UK's best new building.
The judging panel praised the vast office project, which had an estimated budget of £1 billion, for its commitment to sustainability and the architect and client's determination to be a good neighbour with the City of London.
By building at a lower height than approved at planning, reserving parts of the site for public space, and using highly-detailed, handcrafted materials, Bloomberg shows a high level of generosity towards the City, said the judges.
This is a building of its place.

Open House Lecture: Janet Cardiff, “An Overview of Installations and Walks”
Canadian artist Janet Cardiff will discuss various seminal works and her collaborative process with partner George Bures Miller. Since the creation of Dark Pool in 1995, Cardiff and Miller have used audio and multimedia sculptural elements to create installation artworks. They have also pioneered the audio/video walk format creating numerous such walks at various international venues.
The presentation will examine the progression of their work and their experimentation with different mediums and methodologies.
Cardiff and Miller have had numerous solo shows at international venues including ARoS Aarhus Art Museum; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; The Menil Collection, Houston, TX; Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona; Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; Vancouver Art Gallery; and Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, among others. The artists have participated in major group exhibitions such as the 19th Biennale of Sydney in 2014 and dOCUMENTA (13), and they represented Canada at the 2001 Venice Biennale, for which they received the Biennale’s Premio Prize and Benesse Prize. Cardiff and Miller’s works are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Tate, London, Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C., Sammlung Goetz, Munich, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Vienna.

When the motley crew of the Grace Brothers department store prepare for a sale of German goods and then depart for a staff holiday in Spain, they survive their stay in the tropics at a one star establishment and their encounters with everything from a Spanish crumpet to randy revolutionaries with everything intact but their modesty.

15 Things to do in Oxford Travel Guide | Day Trip from London, England video transcript:
Good morning here in London. Today we are taking a day trip. Yes, we sure are. And we're heading off to Oxford. I mean this is obviously a destination that is quite famous. The most famous University in the world.
It is not far from London. So it is a day trip. We're really excited. We're going to film a travel guide to Oxford.
A couple of tips to keep in mind if you're traveling by bus. It is usually cheaper if you book in advance. Also, we noticed that weekdays were cheaper than weekends so we are going on a Friday today and got a good deal.
We made it. We have arrived and that was an awesome trip. We got to see London and the countryside.
Food always comes first. We're about food always. We cannot go sightseeing without a bite of food. We found a pub that is nice and cozy. We're right in the corner and this place apparently specializes in fish and chips.
The University of Oxford has no known foundation date but teaching of some form has taken place here since the year 1096 making it the oldest University in the English speaking world. Today the University is made up for 38 self-governing colleges a few of which are open to visitors.
So one of the things you can do when you visit Oxford is go around and tour the different colleges. We paid two pounds and now we're inside Trinity College.
Trinity College was founded in 1555 and it’s one of the smallest colleges in Oxford admitted just over 400 students. This college has produced some noteworthy figures, including a few prime ministers.
We also saw had a quick glance at Radcliffe College and the Bodleain Library, before continuing on to the University Church.
This is the oldest Botanic Garden in Great Britain and it was originally founded as a medicinal garden. The Garden was also frequently visited by Lewis Carroll, an Oxford mathematics professor, and the gardens were a source of inspiration for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Oxford Castle is a partly ruined Norman castle dating back to Medieval times. During the 18th century it housed the local prison, but today those same walls are home to a hotel.
So I think that is a wrap for our day trip to Oxford. Time to catch our bus. We're tired but we've done the main things we wanted to do. I hope you guys enjoyed this travel guide to Oxford and that it gives you a good idea of how you can kind of explore the city on a day trip from London. If you can come for longer because we wish we had 2 or 3 days here.
This is part of our Travel in England video series showcasing British food, British culture and British cuisine.

Artist’s statement
For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to the sea the sky and mountains . I think it’s the solitude, and also in a big way the vastness of our planet and how small we are as individual creatures. I stand in awe at the power of nature . My never ending goal is to try in some small way to portray or capture this.
After over 35 years I’m still learning and I still want to experiment with images. Unlike many artists I don’t want to stick with a tried and tested style or a formula that sells . Its nice when someone says ‘ is this one of yours ?’
I believe artists grow if they experiment and keep pushing the barriers ,and create at their best when they have a connection with the subject.
I try to paint every day, worried that I might not still be able to do it tomorrow ! In recent years my work has become looser and I try to avoid labouring over small areas. Capturing strong light and shade is very important to me. I love to work on bigger canvases. It gives me a greater sense of still being there !
