| Ogunquit Beach has one of the longest continuous stretches of white sand on the Maine coast, but you can think of it in three sections for easier navigation. Here's our guide to picking which section to visit when, depending on which features interest you the most. Closest to downtown, the section locally dubbed Main Beach has parking and restrooms, but can be crowded. To the north, Footbridge Beach has similar amenities and slightly smaller crowds. ROAD TRIP TO OGUNQUIT, MAINE
We decided to do a last minute spontaneous road trip to Maine! We booked this trip 3 days before we left for it haha but we had the most amazing time exploring a U.S. State we had both never been to before! Ogunquit is a beautiful, welcoming, relaxing little town by the sea and we had so much fun there! Perkins Cove, Ogunquit Maine
April 21, 2017 - April 23, 2017
At what was then called Fish Cove, near the unnavigable Josias River, fishing was a major livelihood. But the cove was unprotected by a headland or breakwater from Atlantic storms, so fishermen had to protect their boats by hauling them ashore each night. Resolving to create a safe anchorage, they formed the Fish Cove Harbor Association, and dug a channel across land they purchased to connect Fish Cove with the Josias River. When the trench was complete, erosion helped to further widen the passage. The resulting tidewater basin is called Perkins Cove, spanned by a manually operated draw footbridge. With a 3½-mile beach of pale sand and dunes forming a barrier peninsula, connected to the mainland in 1888 by bridge across the Ogunquit River, the village was discovered by artists. It became a popular art colony and tourist area. Particularly after 1898, when the Ogunquit Art Colony was established, it was not unusual to see both artists and fishermen working around Perkins Cove. To accommodate summer crowds, several seaside hotels and inns were built. Marginal Way, a scenic trail, runs along the coast from Perkins Cove to Ogunquit Beach. Ogunquit separated from Wells in 1980 and receives visitors from as far as Australia. Part of Stephen King's The Stand, published in 1978, is set in Ogunquit. Ogunquit was named America's Best Coastal Small Town in USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice 2016.

I took a trip to Oqunquit Beach in Maine for Fourth of July, 2015. I loved it and want to go back! The food is really good too.
Ogunquit is a small beach town in Maine right off of the New Hampshire line. The population is around 800 people and they are very friendly.
Maine Family Vacation 2018 (Ogunquit, York, Portland, Kennebunk)
This summer, our family decided to meet for a week at a rental house in Ogunquit, Maine. 8 adults & 5 kids (ages 2 - 10), we had a blast exploring the area including Portsmouth & Odiorne State Park in New Hampshire, and Ogunquit, York, Portland & Kennebunk in Maine. Watch as we explore several beautiful beaches & lighthouses, an aquarium, Allagash Brewery, and more!! We drove up from NYC, my husband's parents flew in from Japan, my parents drove up from North Carolina, and my sister and her family drove down from Montreal, Canada. It was an amazing week and I can't recommend this destination more - I hope our video brings you some smiles, laughs, and ideas for planning your next family vacation!
