The Japanese Soccer Experience
A great thing to do, in order to get a pulse on a country, is to check out a sporting event. In Japan, that means soccer or baseball. This time I head out to see the Oita Trinita play and encounter a lot more than soccer.
Included in the pregame acts were: a kinetic sculpture by Theo Jansen, a taiko performance, low-level jpop performance, and crowd chants. You get a little bit of everything it seems.
I highly recommend a soccer or baseball game if you are in Japan. It will surely be worth it. The lowest price tickets are usually around 1000~1500 yen ($12-18) too.
Check out my video on Japanese baseball:

Prologue transcript narrated by voiceover John Michie:
In Oita, Japan, stands the largest dome on Earth. It is an architectural marvel built from steel, teflon, and titanium. It covers a stadium big enough to comfortably seat over forty-thousand spectators. At the flick of a switch, the roof can open and close like a gigantic eye. The Oita Dome is a pinnacle of structural engineering. Oita owes its success to six iconic domes. At the heart of each, lies a major technological innovation, that allowed engineers to build ever bigger domes. One by one, travelling up the scale, we'll reveal the incredible stories behind these structures, and the inventions that allow them to span ever greater distances. Six ingenious leaps forward, from big, to bigger, into the world's BIGGEST!

History of Domed Stadiums Documentary
Modern Marvel's Domed Stadiums discusses the importance of sports stadiums in America. The program featured Houston's Astrodome, as is was often dubbed, the eighth wonder of the world, for being one of the first domed stadiums that covers almost 10 acres and is 18 stories high. Shortly after, New Orleans Superdome and Seattle's Kingdome built indoor domed stadiums, but fans preferred watching games outdoors. The rest of the program focused on Toronto's Skydome and how it combined the two by having a push-button retractable roof
