I traveled over 2,000 miles on a Kawasaki Versys 650 around Lake Superior. Thanks for coming along with me on this trip! It's been my pleasure to share the ride.

I leave this morning on a solo motocamping trip around Lake Superior. Fears of bad weather, equipment failures, flat tires, road hazards, forgotten items and bears ???? are all real. What do I fear most? “Solo.

Day One:
At my second fuel stop I met John and his dog Moose. John is a retired Air Force veteran who served 50 years as an explosives expert. John told me he has logged over 1-1/2 million miles on 75 motorcycles and at 78 years old he still puts on 25,000-30,000 miles a year!

BTW Moose is not his dog's real name. He said his name was Donald but in light of recent events... his name is now Moose ????.

Day Two:
Just down the road from camp is Lake Of The Clouds. A steep drive to the summit and a short walk reveals this awe inspiring view. I'll admit I got a little emotional at first sight of this incredible beauty.

A lil further on at Meyers Beach in Bayfield Wisconsin, launch point for the Sea Cave Kayak Tours, I decide to take a 1.8 mile hike to see these painted rock things er'body talks about. 1.8 miles of trails is a long ass way to hike yo! The old Joey voice kept asking if we were there yet ????. If you get the chance, take it. Totally worth the hike. And the hike out seemed way easier lol.

Day Three:
All this beautiful scenery and what gets me? Tunnels! Tunnels are just plain cool. On a bike... it's level up!

Further up the coast is Lutsen Minnesota. I don't ski much any more but I've discovered a new appreciation for ski hills. In the summer you can pay to ride the gondola and there is zero chance of cold feet! Why did I not know this sooner?
Tomorrow is border crossing day ????????!

Day Four:
I took a mile in hike this morning to see The Devil's Kettle here at C. R. Magney Park. It's a bit hard to tell but the right side of the falls goes on it's merry way down the river but on the left it disappears into a hole to never be seen again. I have no scientific proof of the last statement.

Day Five:
Pictures do no justice representing just how immense this rock is!This view goes on forever! The Thunder Bay Lookout is crazy! It's like the Canadian version of the clear walk way at The Grand Canyon ????. Seriously. I walked out slow and held the rail! Damn! That's a long way down!

The drive from Sleeping Giant to Terrace Bay is incredible! Each turn reveals another vista of blue water and craggy brown rock outcroppings it reminds me a bit of the mountains in the southwest but with trees all over them.

Day Six:
This first video is at Old Woman Bay in Lake Superior Provincial Park. I pulled off here to recalibrate a bit before getting back on the road. There are scenes like this at nearly every corner here around gichi-gami, the sea of the Ojibway people.

Further south, still in the Lake Superior Provincial Park, is The Agawa Rock Pictographs. The short but rugged hike in is by itself worthy of a stop! As you'll see in the video, I didn't have the courage to venture out far enough on the wet rocks to see the pictographs. Today would not be the day I would experience hypothermia ????!

This perfect little Airbnb cabin is on the shores of the lake and where I lay my head tonight. I spent a few minutes taking a walk and relaxing on the beach. Taking in the cool breeze and the sound of the waves ????.

Day Seven:
Back in the USA ????????.
The familiarity of money, gallons of gas, Fahrenheit temperature and mile measurements are all welcome. The scenery and people I've met will be missed.

Day Eight:
The Keweenaw Peninsula has been a favorite of mine to visit since first coming here for work some 20 plus years ago.

Other then passing through the Ottowa National Forest on the way out of Houghton tomorrow morning, I have completed the circle tour. I've learned it's good to be prepared, have a flexible plan, stay connected to those you love, people will always welcome a traveler, and never be so focused on a goal to loose sight of the journey.
