Fudokino Oka,Wakayama 【 Travel Japan うろうろ和歌山 】 紀伊風土記の丘 ECCジュニア英会話 西脇八幡教室
KiiFudokino Oka in Wakayama city is famous for maple trees, but it is not well known, so it is a great spot for shooting movies.
There are about 400 ancient tombs which are believed to have been built from the 4th to the middle of the 7th century.
The tombs line a beautiful garden path that has many places to stop and enjoy the view.
Besides the abundance of nature there is a wonderful small historical museum.
Now you can enjoy walking among the maple trees as they turn a brilliant autumn red.

Japan Travel: Things to Do, Explore and Experience in Wakayama Prefecture 29
Wakayama Prefecture is located to the south of Osaka. The capital of the prefecture is Wakayama City.
Wakayama Prefecture has many places for visitors to enjoy and explore. The best known tourist attraction is Mount Koya (Koyasan), the headquarters of Shingon Buddhism. Visitors who wish to experience an overnight stay at a temple can experience one here.
In addition to the overnight stay at the temple, visitors approach Koyasan to explore the Kumano Kodo, an ancient network of trials used by pilgrims to visit temples. The Kumano Sanzan, Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha and the Kumano Nachi Taisha are also well visited in this area.
In addition to these spiritual experiences, visitors also come to Wakayama to enjoy the hot springs this region boasts. The Shirahama area is one of the top three onsen (hot springs) resort areas in Japan. Numerous onsen, including one of the oldest onsen in Japan, Saki-no-Yu, is in this area. Shirahama is also famous for its white sandy beach and famous rock formations, including Engetsu Island.
Children will be delighted to visit Adventure World with all its animals and rides. This park is famous for their twin pandas, and visitors will enjoy learning more about our Chinese animal friends here. In addition to the cuddly pandas, visitors can enjoy an African Safari, dolphin and other sea life show. There is a “feel” interaction area as well.
Wakayama Prefecture is blessed with nature, history, spirituality, and fun for all.

Fudoki-no-Oka 風土記の丘 Historic Ruins, Japan
This is a video of the grounds surrounding the museum, perfect for a leisurely walk!
During the Nara period (710 - 794), the south-eastern side of Matsue is said to have been the centre of politics, economy, and culture in the Izumo region. This theory is supported by the remains of numerous tumuli and ancient shrines in the area. The museum exhibit features ancient clay figures, swords, mirrors, and other artifacts that were found, as well as the duplicate copy of the ancient records, Izumo Fudoki.
Admission 150 yen (does not include special exhibits) / Open 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., closed Mondays / 0852-23-2485
From JR Matsue station take the Ichihata Bus for Kumano and Izumo. Get off at Fudoki-no-oka (20 min. ride).
Take a walk in the grounds, or check out the museum (Y150). From the roof, an overview of the region around the Iu River reveals dozens of archaeologically and culturally important sites nearby.
Next to Fudoki-No-Oka are the Okadayama Tumuli. The front burial mound, with its squared key-hole shape unique to the Izumo district, as well as the round mound in back, have yielded a variety of jewels, swords, and other objects. Most riveting was the 1984 discovery of a sword with an inscription including the personal name Nukatabe no omi. This find is valuable as it reveals the approximate time of the arrival of Yamato government influence in the Izumo district.

When the raw material is in the kiln it reduces by half and the finished product produces a metallic sound. It is very hard.

LEAD IN:
Charcoal grilling is among the most popular cooking style in the Japanese culinary tradition.
Binchotan is a well-known type of charcoal used in many of the top restaurants specialising in charcoal grilled food.
Binchotan charcoal is still produced in Japan's Wakayama region using a traditional technique that spans centuries.
STORYLINE:
Yaki tori (grilled chicken) unagi (grilled eels) and yaki niku broiled beef are, to this day, still cooked in Japan in a style that uses Binchotan white charcoal.
Though many restaurants specialising in grilled fish or meat now use gas, others still prefer this old school method.
Charcoal is produced in a number of regions in Japan and also imported, mainly from China, but some of the best quality charcoal used in Japan's restaurants comes from the Kishu region of Japan's Wakayama prefecture.
Akizugawa in the Kishu region is famous for producing white charcoal known as Binchotan.
