2 days in Maun, Botswana. An amazing African adventure
I had the great pleasure of visiting the wonderful country of Botswana. It is such a welcoming country with friendly people, amazing wildlife and superb attractions.
I got to spend two wonderful days in the northern village of Maun on the Okavango Delta where you can glide through pristine waterways on a morkoro and observe wildlife in its natural habitat.
I went on a midday game walk which meant there were less animals to see as many were sleeping, hidden from the harsh midday sun. But I still got to see zebra, hippos, donkeys, cows, crocodiles, spotted tree frogs, wilderbeest, and deer. And I had a sip of the sweet Okavango waters.
I stayed at the Old Bridge Backpackers ( and it was a magical place to stay. Great tent. Excellent bar. Good food. And a mighty big fig tree to laze under by the river and daydream.
I can't wait to get back to Africa. I love it!
Kavango Air Flight over the Okavango Delta from Maun, Botswana Africa - Aug 2015
This video is an over look on the famous Okavango Delta, located in the middle of Botswana. It is recognisable on a map with a jet of veins stretching for miles across the vast distance of the Botswanan land scape. When it rains, it is a delight for the animals as watering holes are now filled and it’s a stop over before there onward journey to wherever they may be heading next.
This trip if a clear day can see a lot of animals if you are lucky. The pilot routs just up one way and then back the same way to the airport. It is a tiny plane so if you do suffer from any sickness, then it may not be best for you to take this trip.
It is not an extreme price, but are you going to go back to Maun? Just do it if you have the time.

Okavango Delta, Botswana | Safari365
Start planning your Okavango Delta safari trip here:
The Okavango Delta is one of Botswana’s most iconic safari destinations. The world’s largest inland delta is a maze of winding waterways, lagoons and lakes, and is home to abundant and diverse wildlife; all sustained by the cool, blue waters of the delta. Meander through the channels on a mokoro or take in the surrounding sights and sounds on a 4x4 game drive.
The Okavango Delta is brimming with staggering natural beauty and once-in-a-lifetime safari experiences.
Botswana's Okavango Delta with FlyAirlink.
Beyond my African dreams, I joined Airlink Airlines to experience the rich offerings of Botswana, flying their Cape Town to Maun service before taking a light aircraft transfer from there into the Moremi National Park.
Spending a night at Camp Xakanaxa with game drives in the Moremi National Park we then air transferred to Camp Okavango for two nights, taking to the waters on their flat bottomed boats and by Mokoro in search of game. Enjoying a walking safari on Buffalo island, all under the guidance and brilliance of the Desert and Delta team. This truly is the jewel of Africa.

Drought in The Okavango Delta and Maun? | Dry Rivers | Botswana YouTuber | Sekgabo Seselamarumo
Hello! Thank you for watching this video.
Here I share about the water crisis that is currently being faced in the North West of Botswana, that is Maun and The Okavango Delta. I share what I saw during my short vacation up in the Delta and when I went to our cattle-post (farm) in Samedupi as well as being at Maun for my school holidays.
I have been seeing pictures on Facebook about The Thamalakane River in Maun drying out but it didn't really sink in until I saw it with my own eyes on how much the river had dried up in 7 months. Personally I feel we are experiencing drought right now. Climate change and global warming are hitting us hard and we need to take action!
Let's talk below in the comment section.

Maun to the Okavango Delta by 4WD and mokoro, walking safari
After staying the night at the excellent Rivernest Cottages in Maun, Botswana, we travelled into the Okavango Delta, first by open 4WD and then mokoro (canoe) with our local polers/guides. Here we camped on an island and after settling in went for a late afternoon walking safari, discovering a herd of elephants just a few hundred metres from our tents...

Botswana Okavango Delta Game Drive
Botswana Okavango Delta Game Drive collage
Unlike East Africa which is mostly flat, dry and brown a Botswana Okavango Delta game drive is often a thrilling ride as you cross rivers and ponds and plough through swamps in search of African wildlife. The green scenery is a distinct contrast to dry brown scenery one often finds in the Serengeti and Masai Mara.

Okavango Delta & Maun, Botswana with Namaqua Tours
During our tour to Botswana in November 2019 we visited Maun where we undertook a flight over the Okavango Delta. The impact of the drought could be seen from the sky as it was not as green as usually - nevertheless it was still an amazing experience. During our time in Botswana their rainy season started and we were very lucky to witness a couple of great showers while there. After we left Botswana received much more rain. We hope they won't experience another drought soon.

Botswana - Okavango Delta Flight full version
The Okavango Delta in Botswana is an inland delta formed where the Okavango River reaches the central part of the Kalahari. All the water is evaporated and does not flow into any sea.
We make a flight of about one hour to enjoy the view. This full version of the clip is 19 min. and gives a good impression of the total experience including some of the aircraft operation. A short video version of the flight showing the natural highlights is available as well.
