Brunet Island State Park
This island park near Cornell, WI is at the confluence of the Chippewa and Fisher rivers in northwest Wisconsin. It's just a short 30 minute drive from Chippewa Falls. The river area has many backwaters for paddling adventures. A trail head for the Ice Age National Scenic Trail is across the river. The Old Abe bicycle trail begins at the park, travels down river and ends 20 miles away at Lake Wissota State Park. The park has an additional 8 miles of hiking trails and 5 miles of cross country ski trails. Many of the 69 campsites have views of the water. 24 campsites have electricity and are clustered near the showers. The Civilian Conservation Corps built the log shelter in 1938 and the park was dedicated in 1940.

Chippewa River - Red Cedar State Trails
Enjoy the scenery on the Chippewa River State Trail from Durand to Caryville and along the Red Cedar State Trail from the trail junction with the Chippewa River State Trail and the trail head in Menomonie. These two trails offer a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of west-central Wisconsin.
Falls along the Red Cedar Trail
This is one of my favorite places to relax with the family. It's about 4 miles northeast of the Downsville parking area for the Red Cedar State Trail.
The falls fluctuate in strength throughout the year. This is late October, 2014.

Durand WI Bike Trail 2007
The Pepin County portion of the Chippewa River State Trail commences near the heart of downtown Durand, Wisconsin, and spans seven-miles to the intersection of the Red Cedar State Trail. A mile from downtown at the northeast edge of Durand, the trail passes through Tarrant Park, which
offers a campground, swimming pool, drinking water, picnic and playground
areas, pavilions, and restrooms. From Tarrant Park the trail drops gently down and passes through broad floodplain fields, crosses Bear Creek, and heads into a lush lowland hardwood forest. It then gradually ascends onto a
wide alluvial plain of the Chippewa River passing through a variety of
fields, forest, prairie and wetlands before once again descending down into
the deep woods of the Dunnville Wildlife Area near the junction of the Red Cedar State Trail. -Pepin County Visitor Information call toll-free

Maps of the trail system can be seen at
The Red Cedar State Trail is 14 miles long. The Chippewa River State Trail
from Durand to downtown Eau Claire is 30 miles long. And from downtown Eau
Claire to Cornell is 32 miles long.
I was able to participate in our State bike trail here in Durand, Wisconsin
USA. Materials were provided so I built and added art work to benches and
signs along the trial. I did most of the photography and made this slide
show video for the Friends of the Pepin County Trail which is the southern
seven mile extension of the Chippewa River State Trail of Wisconsin. -MarkHoagy
