ACAPULCO, MEXICO - Hola amigos and welcome back! I'm taking a break from life in Mexico and I've headed to Acapulco, Guerrero on the south coast of Mexico for an actual vacation to celebrate 10,000 subscribers, one year in Mexico and most of all, my 37th birthday!
This video is a brief overview of my FIRST IMPRESSIONS of Acapulco after a couple of days of being there. It is not a comprehensive guide to Acapulco, so before you leave any retarded comments such as But you just walked down a street and left, or But you didn't do this/go there - this is the FIRST video of a series of videos in Acapulco so there will be more to come! Comprende?
Acapulco is often considered as one of the most dangerous cities in the world and the most dangerous city in Mexico, with tourists discouraged from visiting due to rising crime levels over the last decade. But let's see for ourselves shall we!
Coming up are videos from the Zocalo area some local seafood, La Laja and more! Don't expect typical tourist activities like boat trips and diving, that's not what I'm here for.

Acapulco - Mexico
Acapulco is a city, municipality and major sea port in the state of Guerrero on the Pacific coast of Mexico, 300 kilometres (190 mi) southwest from Mexico City. The city is best known as one of Mexicos oldest and most well-known beach resorts, which came into prominence by the 1950s as a getaway for Hollywood stars and millionaires. Acapulco is still famous for its nightlife and still attracts many vacationers, although most are now from Mexico itself. The resort area is divided into two. The north end of the bay is the traditional area, where the famous in the mid 20th century vacationed and the south end is dominated by newer luxury high rise hotels. Acapulco is located on a deep, semi-circular bay and has been a port since the early colonial period of Mexicos history. It is a port of call for shipping and cruising lines running between Panama and San Francisco, California, United States. The tourist resort city of Acapulco is the largest city in the state, far larger than the state capital Chilpancingo.
The name Acapulco comes from the Nahuatl language, and means place of big reeds or place of broken reeds. de Juárez was added to the official name in 1885 to honor Benito Juárez. The seal for the city shows broken reeds or cane. ( source Wikipedia )

Acapulco Mexico Panoramic Views & Ancient Petroglyphs 2010
Short video as requested for our tour guide. Click here to read more. Hiking hills of Acapulco in 2010.
Panoramic Views & Ancient Petroglyphs -
Visit ancient stone carvings at Palma Sola, an archeological site within the Veladero National Park at a height of 1,000 feet above sea level, overlooking the beautiful Acapulco Bay. Stone steps lead you up the mountainside to view the over 2,000-year-old petroglyphs left by the Yope Indians, the area's first inhabitants. After this tour, you have the chance to visit a typical local market. (usual souvenirs) Enjoy a refreshing drink before you head back to your ship. Here's where all the VW bugs ended up!
This was a NCL cruise tour. Note: Participants must be at least 12 years of age and may sign a release form. No heels or flip flops. Very physical, steep, stair-climbing involved (over 500 steps). Not for guests with knee problems. This is in the old part of Acapulco, with simple living.
Good to explore area with a guide or group. If you use a tour purchased on the ship, they won't leave without you at the end of the day if tour is late. I think ship tour provided a bit more protection also.
Park Royal Acapulco, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
The classic Mexican holiday – Acapulco has a plenty for newbies and seasoned travelers alike. Grownups can take boxed lunches for a daytrip to beaches more remote. Always spectacular, the resort hugs a rugged cliff on secluded stretch of beach at the very south of the world’s most famous bay. With truly heartening views of the city and the bay, the Park Royal Acapulco boasts a gym, spa and free Wi-Fi in the lobby, and everything you need – without ever leaving the resort. The Park Royal Acapulco, secluded, pristine and with a private funicular train to tackle the landscape, is among the finest resort experiences in this dynamic and historical region of the coast.

Is Acapulco Dangerous?
I sort of feel a need to answer the above question due to rising concern. First though, I want to say that I first went to Acapulco when I was 23 years old back in 2005. Like most first comers to Acapulco or Mexico, the question of safety always comes up. Let me say this. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OR SEEN A PROBLEM IN ACAPULCO OR OTHER PARTS OF MEXICO. However, things do happen Most of the deadly violence in Mexico is related to drugs. Don't look for drugs. Don't look for sex and you should be absolutely fine.
