Montgomery, Indiana | Study Tour 2015: Religion in American Society (Part 4/5)
PART 4: MONTGOMERY, INDIANA
In Indiana, the group visited an Old Order Amish community to learn about Amish life and faith.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
In 2015, a group of American studies students from Leipzig University, Germany, and Jagiellonian University Kraków, Poland went on a study tour to the US to learn about the role of religion in American society. After a preperatory seminar concerned with religion in the US, the group applied their knowledge in field research.
Travelling to the cities of Atlanta, Birmingham, Nashville, and Chicago, as well as an Amish community in southern Indiana, the group visited religious communities and institutions, scholars, NGOs, as well as important historical sights to find out just how central religion still is in people's everyday lives.
This five part series documents this trip.

Elkhart County Sheriff incumbent Brad Rogers
As election day draws closer, Sheriff Brad Rogers is ramping up his efforts to secure another four years as the elected leader of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department (ECSD).
The Republican incumbent will appear on the Nov. 4 general election ballot alongside Democratic candidate Norman Anderson.
Since his election to the sheriff post in 2010, Rogers has become known for his outspoken criticism of federal government overreach and his defense of the Indiana and United States constitutions.
During his 27 or so years with the department, he’s initiated several programs including Project Lifesavers, which tracks wandering residents with autism, Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease.
Rogers also started the Explorers program, which lets teens explore a career in corrections and law enforcement.
