BESA (Bedford-Euless Soccer Association) FALCONS 2007-2010
A slideshow I put together (with exception of the very first part) of my son's soccer team from the very beginning to the 2010 season. They played together until the Spring of 2013. One day I plan on adding the last 3 years with more pictures I have taken. They won the championship the last 2 springs! The Falcons are no longer together. My son along with 5 other Falcons have gone on to play Select Soccer with the Texas Xtreme FC.

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.
He said to his friend, If the British march
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light,--
One if by land, and two if by sea---
How the farmers gave them ball for ball,
From behind each fence and farmyard wall,
Chasing the redcoats down the lane,
Then crossing the fields to emerge again
Under the trees at the turn of the road,
And only pausing to fire and load.
So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,---
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

Old School
This Music Video was made honoring those old school firefighters who truly showed what it was like to have nerves of steel. I feel so thankful that I started fighting fire at a time when instruction from several of these firefighters was still an everyday thing.

Semaphores & Street Running - CSX Hoosier Subdivision Part 2
During the summer and fall of 2006, three to five trains were still operating daily over the CSX Hoosier Subdivision in southern Indiana. This included Indiana Railroad (INRD) run-through trains from the INRD Lata Subdivision along with a plethora of Union Pacific equipment on CSX trains operating between St. Louis, MO & Louisville, KY. There were also occasional extra moves such as the SD40 (CSX 4621) pulling the Jordan Spreader seen in the first part of this video. Despite the relatively low traffic level, the line drew railfans from across the country because of the scenery, long stretches of street running, and abundant semaphores.
Operations on the Hoosier sub were also interesting as backup moves were required in Mitchell, IN. CSX trains from St. Louis ran east to Mitchell via the CSX Indiana Sub. After crossing the Hoosier sub at grade trains made a reverse movement around a Y on the northeast side of the diamond. A train could then head south to Louisville. St. Louis bound trains also required backup moves in Mitchell to access the Indiana Sub and head west.
At the time of recording in 2006, the Hoosier sub had the largest collection of active semaphore signals in the eastern United States. Between Orleans & Salem, IN most of the signals were still upper quadrant semaphores installed by the Monon Railroad in the first two decades of the 20th century.
Another draw for railfans to the Hoosier Sub was the long stretches of street running at each end in New Albany and Bedford. Only INRD trains off the Lata sub traversed through Bedford but all traffic navigated the 10+ blocks of street running in New Albany. Though no such scenes are found in this video you can catch some action in my other Hoosier Sub video here:
INRD operations ceased in 2009 when traffic was routed off the south end of the Lata sub and the rails pulled up north of Bedford. CSX ceased through traffic over the Hoosier Sub shortly thereafter.
As of January 2012 only a small portion of the Hoosier sub was still in operation. A local operates from Louisville, KY to industries just north of New Albany. Another local operates off the CSX Indiana Sub from Mitchell to a plant in Bedford. The rest of the line has only been used for car storage. Though it's unlikely traffic will return between Mitchell & New Albany, perhaps the Hoosier sub and the semaphores that guard it will some day return to service.

101712 MAN GETS 2 YEARS IN DOUBLE TRAFFIC DEATH
At 9:15 a.m. on October 16, 2012 Magnolia Fire Department responded to a reported major accident with a vehicle fire. When they arrived on the scene they found a Ford F150 fully involved in fire and had just exploded. Next to it was a 1993 International Flatbed loaded with sheetrock.
As the fire was brought under control firefighters discovered the burned bodies of Francisco Cantu, 28, of Rosenburg and Marshall Rebeles of Rosenburg. Rebeles was originally identified as Jonathan Candalaria,of Rosenburg, but after DPS Troopers made contact with the family they were informed he had been using a false name to avoid paying income taxes.
The driver of the flat bed, Wilson Alberto Avelar, 31, of 6310 Dumfries in Houston was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands. His passenger Danny Vladmir Rivera, 29., of Houston was also transported to the same location in stable condition.
According to DPS Sgt. Fountain , Juan Jose Carrizales, 60, of 28536 FM 2978 was southbound on FM 2978 and with his turn signal on was waiting on the Ford F150 which was northbound on FM 2978 to pass so Carnizales could turn into his driveway. At the same time another vehicle went to the right around Carrizales and passed. Behind that vehicle was the flatbed which applied his brakes and unable to stop swerved into the northbound lane clipping Carrizales vehicle and hitting the Ford F-150 head on.
FM 2978 was closed for 7 hours as the investigation continued. It reopened just before 4pm.
The driver of the flatbed, Avelar, was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on two counts of Criminal Negligent Homicide. Avelar had a standard drivers license and has been cited numerous times for not having a commercial license.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation. DPS also dispatched their helicopter to the scene for aerial photographs.
On Tuesday Avelar plead to two counts of criminal negligent homicide and was sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of criminal justice.
According to Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Vince Santini the range of punishment for this charge ranged probation to two years in State Jail. Santini said back in the 90’s the charge was a misdemeanor but was changed.
Santini said Rebeles was a former 15-year-police officer and also served in the military. Cantu was Rebeles cousin and was expecting his first child at the time he was killed.
