Old Chiang Mai Cultural Center
An evening of northern Thai food and dance for only about $20.00 (700 Baht). You are picked up at your hotel and brought to the center, you are then seated and served dinner, if you want more of any item it will be brought to you.
After dinner the dancing begins, various traditional Thai dances are presented, this lasts for about one hour at which time everyone is invited to another dance location located on the property. Several more dances are presented and then it's time to go to the van to be driven back to your hotel.
The evening starts at 7:00 pm and ends at 9:30 pm.

Having a Khantoke dinner is a good way to experience Northern Thai food. We watched our dinner show in the Old Chiang Mai Cultural Center. The show was great and entertaining. In this video I also show where we stayed, Prestige Chiang Mai Hotel, and do a room tour.

+++During a tour of Hawaii in 1970 the Nimenheiman family visited a culture show. They realized that this would be the perfect way to introduce the ancient Lanna Thai culture of Northern Thailand to visitors to Chiang Mai.
They decided to call it Khantoke (Khan – Tray and Toke – Bowls). They served delicious Northern Thai dishes to guests that enjoyed the feast while being entertained by traditional music and dance.
So the Khantoke was born. Since then it has been copied all over Thailand but still the original is the best!
Now Old Chiangmai has been further developed with, Hill Tribe shows, Exhibitions and other attractions to show even more of the Old Chiangmai.
“We are driven by a deep interest in our Lanna culture and a desire to maintain its rich traditions and share them with as many people as possible.” (

Khantoke dinner is a century-old Lanna tradition in Chiang Mai. A khan tok (ขันโตก) is a pedestal tray used as a small dining table by the Lanna people of northern Thailand, Laotians and by people from Isan in northeastern Thailand. A khan tok tray is a short, round table with several legs made from wood. It has a diameter of about 35 cm.
