Old Hobart Town Model Village in Richmond Tasmania
The first stop on our 8 day family holiday in Tasmania was the Historic Town of Richmond, around 20 minutes drive from Hobart.
The model village at Old Hobart Town in Richmond was our first attraction here.
Seeing all of the work and effort that Andrew Quick and his dad put into this display of how life was in Hobart back in the 1820's was amazing. This was around 10 years before the rise of Port Arthur down south a little from Hobart.
We also had fun with the activity of trying to locate each of the 4 figurines that are shown on the map that is given out on entry.

Richmond, Tasmania | Travel Vlog
We enjoyed our visit to Richmond, Tasmania, a very historic town about 20 kms northeast of Hobart.
Richmond is one of Tasmania's most popular destinations, steeped in history, family-friendly and a hub for food and wine lovers. Nestled in the heart of the Coal River Valley, Richmond was established as an important military staging post and convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur. The village is famous for its elegant Georgian architecture, with beautiful heritage buildings dating back as early as the 1820's now housing galleries, tea shops, craft boutiques and museums.
Conveniently located just 20 minutes drive from the Hobart CBD and 15 minutes from Hobart airport, Richmond is an ideal base from which to explore Hobart and beyond to southern Tasmania, Freycinet and the East Coast, and the Tasmanian Midlands, including the food, wine and heritage of the beautiful Coal River Valley.

Australia - Tasmania - Richmond & Port Arthur
After spending 4 days on the Gold Coast we flew out of Brisbane Airport for the next stage of our Australian Adventure. We flew with Virgin Australia to Hobart in Tasmania to spend some time with my grandparents. This video follows the first 2 days there where we visited Richmond,it's Bridge and Gaol. The following day we drove down the Tasman Peninsula to Eagle Hawk Neck, The Tasman Arch, Devils kitchen and then spent the afternoon at Port Arthur. Port Arthur is a fascinating place which was notorious back in the days of Transportation, it was Australia / the British Empires toughest prison and the stories of it's inhabitants are well documented.
