Going To Driving School in Japan! (Getting A Japanese Driver's License!)
The secret is out! I'm getting my full driver's license in Japan!
I’ve been going to Fukuoka Prefectural Driving School to get my license and it’s actually a lot of fun!? I don't know why I waited so long to get this done.
I’ve always had a fear of driving and I was really worried I’d never pass in Japanese... (Okay I haven’t technically taken any exams yet so I can’t say I haven’t failed yet but) I was actually super relieved to know they have English textbooks and the tests can be taken in English too.
The actual classes are all in Japanese though so I haven’t decided which language I’m going to take the tests in, but now that I’m actually going to the school I feel way more confident. Driving on the school course is so boring. I want to get out on the real roads. :o
What's getting a driver's license like in your country? ;o
Special thanks to Fukuoka-ken Jidosha Gakko for allowing me to shoot when most people aren't supposed to be/allowed to be shooting. I really really really appreciate everybody allowing me to share this experience!

Japanese Doctors - Medical - Hospital - Tokyo Japan - Best Shot Footage - Stock Footage
Japanese Doctors, Patients, Toritsu Ohtsuka Hospital, Tokyo Japan, CT Scan, Speed Train, Nurses. Japan, Nihon or Nippon, officially 日本国 Nippon-koku or Nihon-koku) is an island nation in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of the Sea of Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south. The characters that make up Japan's name mean sun-origin, which is why Japan is sometimes referred to as the Land of the Rising Sun. Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands.[10] The four largest islands are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku, together accounting for ninety-seven percent of Japan's land area. Japan has the world's tenth-largest population, with over 127 million people. The Greater Tokyo Area, which includes the de facto capital city of Tokyo and several surrounding prefectures, is the largest metropolitan area in the world, with over 30 million residents. Archaeological research indicates that people lived in Japan as early as the Upper Paleolithic period. The first written mention of Japan is in Chinese history texts from the 1st century AD. Influence from other nations followed by long periods of isolation has characterized Japan's history. Since adopting its revised constitution in 1947, Japan has maintained a unitary constitutional monarchy with an emperor and an elected parliament called the Diet. A major economic power, Japan has the world's third-largest economy by nominal GDP[11] and by purchasing power parity. It is also the world's fourth largest exporter and fifth largest importer. Although Japan has officially renounced its right to declare war, it maintains an extensive modern military force in self-defense and peacekeeping roles. Japan has the second lowest homicide (including attempted homicide) rate in the world.[12] According to UN and WHO estimates, it has the highest life expectancy of any country and the third lowest infant mortality rate.

Fight by striking both kote.
Attack at the very moment
he pulls back.
That will be a valid ippon.
When doing the chudan stance against the jodan stance...
If you try to prevent both the men
and the kote from the jodan...
You men will be stuck while your kote is pressured.
Or your kote will be struck while your men is pressured.
Therefore, conventionally,
You hide your kote completely
I think that it is easier to fight against jodan...
by opening up the men as the only
possible target for your opponent.
when you do this, It is taught
to put the kensen at the height of his fist.
But in actual use.
If you put it at the outside edge of his kote...
your opponent won't be able to see your kote,
and he won't be tempted to strike it.
Therefore, the only option for your opponent
is to aim for the men.
So now the battle is about
fighting against his men.
This kamae is called hiraseigan,
And I think it's easier to fight like this.
I'd like to explain about
different ways to attack against jodan.
First
If you put pressure on his tsuki...
There are pleople who react
by lowering their hands.
In such a case.
From the pressure on the tsuki...
battle by striking both kote
that has now come down.
Another is right kote.
And when he lowers a little more.
That is the idea.
I believe the best way to attack jodan
is by going for tsuki.
I'd like to explain a little about how to attack tsuki.
First
Put pressure to cut the kote.
Now we go for tsuki.
But when you do it with your hands it is likely to fail.
Thrust the tsuki by
putting your hips behind it.
Thrust from the hips rather than the hands.
This image is important.
Like that.
Send your feet and hips forward
by pushing from your left foot firmly.
Pressure the kote.
And at the moment he wants to defend hit kote...
Thrust tsuki from the waist.
In this manner.
If you learn to pressure and attack
tsuki in this manner...
I'ts very threatening for your opponent.
If your opponent pulls up his hands.
From the waist.
Also,
it is more intimidating that way.
now, a bad example
this is a bad example
where the waist remains.
Put your waist in and thrust.
This will qualify for a vald ippon.
Pressure kote.
The opponent pulls away his kote.
The moment he pulls away,
I thrust the tsuki.
I think this is the best way
to attack tsuki.
Don't just attack. Pressure the kote,
make him pull
I think that this is a very good way
for practicing tsuki
Repeat such practice many times.
Make your opponent feel like:
Tsuki is a threat, it's annoying.
Make him lower his hands.
Destroy his kamae.
Now, you can use
many techniques.
It is very important that you
master your tsuki skills.

Suriage from omote.
Strike the right men of the opponent.
It is quite hard to strike against jodan
when he is in kamae.
Let the opponent bring
the hands down.
Make the hands come down and from there
we go for suriage, or other oji waza.
At first, Let try oji waza
against men
First of all, seme and make him strike,
suriage on the ura side and strike gyaku do.
I'll try again
I'ts gyaku do.
Next, suriage on the omote side
and strike do from there.
from the omote side.
Then suriage from omote again
and strike men.
Next, suriage from the ura side
and strike men.
Another one is,
Perform a kaeshi from omote side
and strike men.
These are techniques against men.
These are done by making
the opponent strike down
Next, there are people who are very good
at striking kote from jodan.
At that time, when its obvious that the kote is coming.
There are some oji waza against kote.
First, seme. When he comes for kote,
suriage from the ura side
and strike men.
I will try it.
Next. Keep this angle.
Parry from the omote side
Hit the right men of the opponent
You can put out your left foot
Or your right foot.
I think it is good to have both options.
Like this,
against a kote strike.
You can suriage from the ura side.
Or from the omote side.
Both are possible.
So please do not merely defend against attacks.
Instead, practice suriage
waza many times to strike the opponent.
After a jodan fighter misses his strike,
he is in full disadvantage.
So it is very important that you don't miss this opportunity and strike during his disadvantage.
-------------

One of Fukasaku's most noted films. It was later remade by Takashi Miike. The plot points always seemed a bit odd for me. I think it has alot to do with the fact that it was based on the life story of a real yakuza. Life is not the shortest line from point A to B; more like a 5 year old's doodle. 30 years of madness - Riki Ishikawa (The red balloon is explained in Miike's version. Ishikawa said that he will rise like a balloon till it bursts)

Fukushima Revisited: Japan's Media Downplays Radiation & Grey Smoke at Fukushima 3/21/11
Source video by MsMilkytheclown:
published on 3/21/11
The ministry is publishing levels of radiation and radioactive materials monitored on the ground, as well as in rain, tap water and the atmosphere.
The website also shows the science ministry's independent measurements of radiation near the disaster-stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
As of 7 PM Sunday, radiation readings were slightly higher than normal in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. But the ministry says the levels do not pose an immediate health hazard.
In Tokyo and six surrounding prefectures, trace amounts of radioactive iodine and cesium have been detected. Neither substance occurs naturally.

Grey smoke from No.3 reactor subsided
The grey smoke seen coming from the troubled No.3 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant on Monday afternoon has subsided.
The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company, evacuated its workers from the plant shortly after 4 PM.
The government's nuclear safety agency said the smoke, which turned black and grey, subsided about 2 hours later.
It also said water levels and pressure inside the reactor have registered no major changes.
The storage pool for spent nuclear fuel is located in the southeast part of the structure.
Radiation levels at a spot about 500 meters northwest of the reactor were 2,015 microsieverts per hour, almost unchanged from the figure measured before the smoke was seen.
Work was under way to restore external power to the No.4 reactor and regain its cooling functions. The nuclear safety agency said the work is unlikely to have caused a fire.
Smoke was also seen rising from another troubled reactor Monday evening.
The government's nuclear safety agency says it was informed that white smoke was apparently coming from a crack in the roof of the No.2 reactor structure at 6:20 PM.
Similar white smoke had been seen rising from the reactor previously.
On Sunday afternoon, work to inject 40 tons of seawater into the reactor's storage pool for spent nuclear fuel was carried out, taking about 2 hours.

Restoring external power to Fukushima Daiichi
The Tokyo Electric Power Company has resumed work to restore external power to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, as part of its efforts to regain cooling functions.
This follows operations by the Tokyo Fire Department and Self-Defense Forces to douse the No.3 and No.4 reactors with water.
They ended their water-spraying operations to cool down the spent fuel rod pools on Monday morning.
External power was extended to the electricity distribution panels of the No.2 and No.5 reactors on Sunday, and power can now be supplied to reactors number 1, 2, 5, and 6.
In order to get the electricity back on at the No.2 reactor, the power company plans to check various measurement devices and lighting systems in the central control room -- the heart of the plant -- and check for electricity leakage in the battery charging room.
The No.3 and No.4 reactors, where high levels of radiation are forcing workers to exercise extreme caution, are scheduled to be connected to the electricity distribution panels on Tuesday.
The power company is doing everything it can to restore external power, which it sees as essential to regaining cooling functions for the reactor vessels and the spent fuel rod pools.
Radiation levels are dropping somewhat at Fukushima Daiichi plant. The government's nuclear safety agency says it will continue to monitor the situation carefully.
The Tokyo Fire Department poured water into the plant's Number 3 reactor for 6.5 hours on Sunday night in a continuing attempt to cool down a storage pool for spent fuel.
The Self-Defense Forces meanwhile shot water into the Number 4 reactor on Sunday, and again on Monday morning.
The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency says the operations appear to be paying off to a certain degree, with radiation levels showing a continuous decline since Sunday afternoon.
The agency has been monitoring data at a point about 500 meters northwest of the Number 3 reactor.
It says radiation readings stood at 2,670 microsieverts per hour as of 6:30 AM on Sunday.
It says the figure then rose briefly to 3,346 microsieverts at 2:50 PM on Sunday, but went down again to 2,319 microsieverts at 6:30 AM on Monday.
The agency says the brief jump in radiation could be due to the wind on Sunday afternoon. It says it will continue to closely monitor the situation.

[Go Driving & Traveling]

0.66 microSv/h in air, Hitachi Sea Side Park, Hole 15 of Disc Golf Course, July 2012
On 16 July 2012, I measured radiation in Hitachi Sea Side Park of Hitachinaka city, Ibaraki pref, Japan. I monitored 0.30 micro Sievert per hour in air at chest high
around the border of grass field and forest of red pine tree, 0.66 near the 15th Hole
of Disc Golf Course in red pine tree forest. The park management ofiice (The national park management office) had not monitored radiations at all since the Fukushima Niclear Plant Disaster for 15 months. But in June 2012, radiation monitoring figuars are shown in public on the official homepage of the park.
It seems that they are monitoring and releasing figurs of low radiation places.
Measuring instrument is made of Ukraine. ECOTEST MKS-05. 120 from Fukushima
