The Old Lighthouse Dungeness
dungenesslighthouse.com
Situated at Dungeness, Kent, just next to the Nuclear Power Station, is the old lighthouse. For a small entrance fee, this makes for an enjoyable time, especially if you've never ventured into one before.
Take a walk up the spiral stairs to the various levels, culminating in a trip to the top, which can be quite blustery but the views are wonderful. You can even see the new Lighthouse, the marshes, and of course the sea.
The lighthouse itself boasts a million candle-power light that weighs around 3 tons, and was moved by a clock mechanism. At 46 metres high, it was opened by His Royal Majesty the Prince of Wales in 1904 after a 3 year build, and it survived two world wars before decommission in 1960. For 56 years it provided a welcome landlight to vessels negotiating the perils of the English Channel.

Dungeness Old & New Lighthouses, September 2014
This video documents the two fascinating lighthouses at the headland of Dungeness in Kent filmed on 1st September 2014. I have had a lifelong interest in intresting buildings and structures, and had wanted to see these two lighthouses for a long time. The Dungeness New Lighthouse is the first lighthouse to be shown in this video and this was opened in 1961 by the Duke of Gloucester. This tower unusually rises from a concrete base in the form of a spiral ramp, and is now an automatic lighthouse (since 1991).
The second lighthouse to be shown is Dungeness' original Old lighthouse, opened in 1904. This grade II listed building is open to the public and stands around 150ft tall, with spectacular views across the English channel. This lighthouse was decommissioned in 1960 after which it was replaced in functioning by the new lighthouse a few hundred yards away.
Filmed on my Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 digital camera on 1st September 2014.

Steam train to Dungeness lighthouse
Fly over the unique landscape of Dungeness, then follow the Steam Train as it leaves the station and trundles its way across the desolate landscape on its way back to Romney Marsh. The aerial shots were taken by Eagle Video, with some great flying by Malcolm, our pilot. eaglevideo.co.uk specialise in the production of online video for websites, exhibitions and product demonstrations.

Rye & Climbing Dungeness Lighthouse
Me and Eden take a trip to the beautiful East Sussex town of Rye, we have fun in the old penny arcade as well as climb the cobbled streets. After this we head on to what is referred to as Britain’s Desert; a.k.a ‘Dungeness’ at the most southern tip of Kent. It really is an odd yet remarkable place. We go up to the top of the old lighthouse. After this we head back to our holiday home for a quick tour around!

Places to visit in the UK - Kent, Dungeness
Dungeness is a headland on the coast of Kent, England, formed largely of a shingle beach in the form of a cuspate foreland. Highly recomended as a place to visit in the UK.
Steeped in history Dungeness, Kent has been featured on the album cover of Pink Floyd. In television, the Dungeness landscape, the lighthouse and the power station have been used on digital channel E4 at the beginning and end of advertising breaks. It was used as a backdrop for 2 part ITV drama The Poison Tree. It featured in an episode of the BBC detective serial The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and in March 2007 was the setting for a major part of an EastEnders special. The BBC filmed episodes of Doctor Who in Dungeness during the 1970s. The 1981 fantasy film Time Bandits shot its 'Time of Legends' sequence on the beach, and Dungeness was used to film a scene in Danny Boyle's Trance.

Dungeness
This is a short video in Dungeness, Kent in the south of England which I shot whilst waiting for my boat to France.
The place looks generally post-apocalyptic, and so I tried to play that up; I shot almost everything deliberately over-exposed to wash out the sky and colour graded quite aggressively to that theme too.
Shot on a Canon EOS 550d / Rebel T2i DSLR with the Technicolor CineStyle picture profile using three very cheap lenses; the 18-55mm kit lens, a Nikon 50mm f1.4 prime and the Canon 75-300mm zoom.
Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Colour graded with Red Giant Software's Magic Bullet Looks.
