Lake District UK Geocaching - Old Man Of Coniston
The Old Man of Coniston is a fell in the Furness Fells in the English Lake District. It is 2,634 feet (803 m) high, and lies to the west of the village of Coniston and the lake of the same name, Coniston Water. The fell is sometimes known by the alternate name of Coniston Old Man, or simply The Old Man.
We walked this fell on 12th August 2012, the day after the UK's 5th MEGA event held in Cartmel in Cumbria. A great day, a great fell and some great caches along the way. The music is an instrumental version of High And Dry by Radiohead.

Old Man of Coniston Hike - Dávám zde ještě jedno zapomenuté video z našeho cestování po Anglii. Pod vedením Toma jsme vyrazili do národního parku Lake District, kde jsme strávili dva dny. První den jsme zažili liják, kvůli kterému jsme promokli až na kost, a udělali jen krátkou tůru okolo největšího jezera v Anglii. Další den jsme šli už za lepšího počasí pokořit horu, která se jmenuje Old Man of Coniston, a je hlávním obsahem tohoto videa. Každopádně jestli se vám video líbí, sdílejte ho, dejte palec nahoru nebo nám napište do komentářů, co se vám líbilo a co naopak nelíbilo. Oceníme vás za to dalšími videi na našem kanálu :-)

The OLD MAN OF CONISTON - Lake District Britains Favourite Walks #8
The OLD MAN OF CONISTON - Lake District Britains Favourite Walks #8 - Voted 8th in Britain's Favourite Walks. The Lake District is home to some absolutely stunning mountain and lakeside walks, and this little beaut of a mountain hike was absolutely no exception. With stunning views of Coniston water, and the surrounding area, the Old Man Of Consiton, situated in the Lake Districts Furness Fells, is a tough little hike.
Pushed for time, and as a spur of the moment last minute idea, the boys of Summit or Nothing find out if they have what it takes to get to the top of the Old Man before the band of bad weather or the night draws in. They have left half of heir hiking gear behind, they have left the hiking backpacks and are completely unprepared! Sounds like its gonna be fun!
If you like hiking vlogs, or hiking in the Lake District, or Hiking Mountains, or mountain hiking, then you will love our video, or any our videos. Hiking for beginners, you can't get much nearer the bottom of the barrel than this pair, and as they learn how to hike, and where to hike, they are inviting you to join them on their adventures.

Lake District - Southern Fells - Dow Crag, Brim Fell & THE OLD MAN of CONISTON (The Final 3)
Well we’ve arrived at last. Here is the final emotional walk after 8 years of walking the fells in which we complete our 214 Wainwright Lakeland Summits Challenge. We had just 3 left to go, but the weather had turned bad on us so we only get views of the summit tops. Very sad as we wanted to end on a glorious high, however it is still hopefully a good watch as Dave gets to finally achieve his goal. Here we take on 3 of The Coniston Fells in the Southern Area of the Lake District – DOW CRAG, BRIM FELL and THE OLD MAN OF CONISTON.
Over the past 8 years the Fat Boys have been helping a man achieve his dream of completing the 214 'Wainwrights' listed in his Pictorial Guides to the Lake District. Dave Galloway from Southend-On-Sea in Essex and now age 75 only just recovered from surgery following two bouts of Cancer. That coupled with other obstacles often put in his way, such as chronic cramps, blisters and awful crippling gout have not deterred him from making sure he makes the most of being given a second crack at life.
On this site we have documented in video every fell that Dave has conquered. The completion of his dream is now very near, watch it unfold on this YouTube site. Hope you enjoy this next small part of his challenge.
Music is by 7and5 with ‘Passing Storm’ ‘The Pulse of Rain’ and ‘Footsteps’ then the video finishes with the aptly named track ’End of an Era’ by David Helpling.
Thanks as always for viewing our video’s and your wonderful comments.
See you out there!
The fatboys on tour team are still out there wondering amongst the Crags, so watch this space for more video’s to come

Old Man of Coniston, New years Day 2018. Britain’s best walk number 8
Walk up the old man of Coniston on New Year’s Day 2018 with Barney the dog.
Old Man of Coniston via Wetherlam September 20th 2015
Unfortunately the weather forecast was a little out on this one, the cloud didn't lift as expected so the views were somewhat limited. The plan had been to go up Wetherlam and across onto the Old Man from Swirl How, then from there we'd intended to do Dow Crag as well, but with the limited views we decided to leave Dow Crag for another day and explored some of the old quarry workings instead. It was still a good day out regardless of the weather but I think we've possibly seen the last of the summer now!
Old Man of Coniston Circular Route - A walk around the Lake District Fells
Seriously one of the best walks I've ever been on in the Lake District. The Old Man of Coniston is a fantastic mountain peak to summit, and the circular walk around the Coniston Fells slate quarry, bouldering up Dow Crag and back is a grand day out.
Standing at 803 metres, The Old Man of Coniston is arguably one of the tallest peaks in the Lake District. Home to beautiful lakes and the famous slate mine and quarry, this circuit around the ridge of Dow Crag has some fantastic views and makes for some incredible and interesting hiking, especially in the winter when the mountains are capped with plenty of snow. I'm so glad I took my drone with me.
I couldn't see much from the summit in this youtube video, but from Dow Crag after a scramble, I got some brilliant views of the Old Man and the surrounding landscape.
