Venus (2006) Location - The Old Neptune, Marine Terrace, Island Wall, Whitstable CT5 1EJ
Having headed to the seaside from London, ageing actor Maurice (Peter O'Toole) and his Venus Jessie (Jodie Whittaker) have a drink in this most excellent sea front pub
The Old Neptune
My first pub experience is at this pub in Whistable. Drink of choice was Green King IPA, which I loved. This was the coolest pub I went to in England.

Alex Williams and Kenny McLeish at the Neptune. Four seconds. No soundtrack. Somewhere there is a whole VHS...
THE OLD NEPTUNE. A song for the Old Neptune Pub in Whitstable!
An original song about one of my favourite English Pubs, the Old Neptune in Whitstable. Features harmonica, mic tapping, beatboxing, rapping (of a sort!), & a rousing singalong pub chorus. GEAR: Custom Suzuki Promaster harp in low F (PowerBender Tuning), played through a Greg Heumann Ultimate 58 mic into Korg Pandora & TC Helicon Voicelive Touch.
Performed in the quaintly named English village of Darley Dale in September 2012, as part of a UK tour with Tim Edey (he makes a cameo appearance at the end).

Madness
Madness, madness, they call it madness
Madness, madness, they call it madness
It's plain to see
That is what they mean to me
Madness, madness, they call it gladness, ha-ha
Madness, madness, they call it madness
Madness, madness, they call it madness
I'm about to explain
A-That someone is losing their brain
Hey, madness, madness, I call it gladness, yee-ha-ha-ha
Propaganda ministers
Propaganda ministers
I've a-got a heavy due
I'm gonna walk all over you
'Cause
Madness, madness, they call it madness
Well if this is madness
Then I know I'm filled with gladness
It's gonna be rougher
It's gonna be tougher, pa-da-da, pa-da-da
But I won't be the one who's gonna suffer
Oh no, I won't be the one who's gonna suffer
You are gonna be the one, a-you...

The Same Thing written by Willie Dixon
What makes a man go crazy when a woman
Wears her dress so tight
What makes a man go crazy when a woman
Wears that ol' dress so tight
Must be the same ol' thing
That make a tom cat fight all night
Now, why do all the big men
Try to run a big-legged woman down
Now, why do all the big men
Try to run a big ol' woman down
Must be the same ol' thing that
Makes a bulldog a huggling 'round
It's that ol' same thing,
Now tell me who's to blame
The whole world is fighting
About that ol' same thing
What make you feel so good
When your baby's in her evening gown
What make you feel so good
When your baby's in her evening gown
Must be that same ol' thing
That makes a preacher lay his bible down
It's that ol' same thing,
Now tell me who's to blame
The whole world is fighting
About that ol' same thing

Starman
Songwriters: Kori Gardner Hammel, / Jason Edward Hammel,
Goodbye love
Didn't know what time it was the lights were low oh how
I leaned back on my radio oh oh
Some cat was layin down some rock n roll lotta soul, he said
Then the loud sound did seem to fade a ade
Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase ha hase
That werent no d.j. that was hazy cosmic jive
There's a starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
I had to phone someone so I picked on you ho ho
Hey, that's far out so you heard him too! o o
Switch on the tv we may pick him up on channel two
Look out your window I can see his light a ight
If we can sparkle he may land tonight a ight
Don't tell your poppa or hell get us locked up in fright
There's a starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
Starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
