The Old Port of Montreal (French: Vieux-Port de Montréal) is the historic port of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Located in Old Montreal, it stretches for over 2 km (1.2 mi) along the Saint Lawrence River. It was used as early as 1611, when French fur traders used it as a trading post.
The historical Old Port offers Montrealers and visitors alike access to a wide variety of activities, including the Montréal Science Centre, with an IMAX Theatre, and La Grande Roue de Montréal. La Grande roue de Montréal is a Ferris wheel built at the Old Port of Montreal for the festivities for the 375th anniversary of the city. Open to the public since 1 September 2017, it is the tallest Ferris wheel in Canada.
The Old Port of Montreal offers riverfront access for walking, cycling, roller-blading, quadricycle, pedalo and Segway rentals. It is also located at the eastern end of the Lachine Canal. Cultural events include the Festival Montréal en lumière, Igloofest , Poutinefest and the Matsuri Japon festival.

Herr also which the Circue de Soleil most of the time performed
You can come by bus,car or walking distance from the Metro station.

Visiting Montreal's Old City
On a nice sunny day, we go visit the old town of Montreal with some friends. We walk on Rue Saint-Paul until Place Jacques-Cartier, walk until the Marche Bonsecours in the Old Port and have some drinks in the rooftop terrasse of the Hotel Nelligan. A fun day overall!

Montreal was founded on May 17, 1642 on the banks of the St-Lawrence River currently known as Old Montreal. The Old Port is accessible on foot and by bicycle and features many annual attractions and festivals. Some of which are the Igloofest, Cirque du Soleil, Eureka Festival, International Fireworks Competition, Canada Day Celebration, A taste of the Caribbean, Montreal International Triathlon, The Great Montreal Poutinefest, The Montreal International Reggae Festival, and YUL Eat.
There are also seasonal attractions and year-round attractions like the Montreal Science Center complete with Imax Theater, a Zip-line, Bike and Paddle Boat rentals, Bota Bota Floating Spa, and as of June 2017 The Montreal Observation Ferris Wheel. Not to mention the many shops, restaurants and food trucks all along the port.
As Montreal Celebrates it's 375th birthday in 2017 there will be additional events such as the lighting of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, the Royal Deluxe Giant Marionettes, and much more.
