Paspatur- Fethiye’s Colorful & Historic Old Town
Paspatur, Fethiye’s historic Old Town, is one of those places that people, whether locals or tourists, feel connected to in more than one way. It has that vibe about it: The narrow, vine-shaded and umbrella-topped alleys and courtyards filled with quaint shops selling local crafts and carpets, leather goods, spices and gifts, as well as dozens of unique cafes, bars, coffee and tea houses and restaurants.
Fethiye Beautiful Turkish Harbour Town
Fethiye, Turkey, is one of the most beautiful towns in the world. Fethiye has a Summer which lasts eight months, the bluest of skies and fantastic scenery. Turtles in the harbour, a beautiful Old Town and a laid back, cultural charm. Fethiye has so much to offer, and the local Turks are some of the warmest and friendliest people you will ever meet. Fethiye is hot....but the vibe is so cool.

TURKEY: Fethiye city & market [HD]
Modern Fethiye is located on the site of the ancient city of Telmessos.
Telmessos was the most important city of Lycia, with a recorded history starting in the 5th century BC.It was dedicated to the god Apollo and the centre of prophecy.
The ancient Lycian tombs, a Roman theatre and a medieval castle surrounding the town are the only existing monuments from the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
The Tomb of Amyntas was built in 350 BC by the Lycians. It was named after the Greek inscription on the side of it which reads Amyntou tou Ermagiou, which translated to English means Armyntas, son of Hermagios. While many other tombs carved into mountainsides are quite little, comparable to a small room, the interior of the Tomb of Amyntas is the size of a full-sized temple.
The ancient castle stands on the place where the city was first founded. Its existing walls date back from the eleventh century. Rebuilt during the fifteenth century by the Knights of Rhodes, the castle was used as a naval base.
The Roman Theatre stands opposite the commercial harbour near the town centre. Typically Roman in style, it was built during the second century on the ruins of a previously built Greek style theatre.
Fethiye has experienced many earthquakes. Last significant ones date to 1957 and 1961, with 67 casualties and 3200 damaged buildings after the 02-04-1957 earthquake. The town has been rebuilt since then and now has a modern harbor and a marina.
Fethiye is now one of Turkey's well-known tourist centres and is especially popular during the summer. As a result of the large British population and the high numbers of Britons going there for holiday, Fethiye-Öludeniz was chosen as the best tourism centre in the world by The Times and The Guardian newspapers in 2007.

In this Turkey travel vlog, we visit the abandoned village of Kayaköy, near Fethiye. This place was deserted in the 1920s due to the population exchange policy between Turkey and Greece. We also visit another ancient site in Fethiye, the Amyntas Rock Tombs or Lycian Rock Tombs, which are carved into the side of the mountains overlooking Fethiye and the ocean.
As well as learning about these historical places, we also tried some delicious Turkish Meze at a restaurant overlooking Fethiye.

TURKEY: Kayaköy - Ghost Town [HD]
The deserted village Kayaköy (Karmylassos), now preserved as a museum village, consists of hundreds of rundown but still mostly intact Greek-style houses and churches which cover a small mountainside.
It was built on the site of the ancient city of Carmylessus in the 18th century. It experienced a renewal after nearby Fethiye was devastated by an earthquake in 1856 and a major fire in 1885. After the Greco-Turkish War, Kayaköy was largely abandoned after a population exchange agreement was signed by the Turkish and Greek governments in 1923.
Many of the buildings were damaged in the 1957 Fethiye earthquake.
Today Kayaköy is a historical monument. Around 500 houses remain as ruins and are under the protection of the Turkish government, including two Greek Orthodox Churches, which remain the most important sights of the ghost town. There is a private museum on the history of the town. In the middle of the village stands a fountain source from the 17th century.
Kayaköy is located near Ölüdeniz and Fethiye, Turkey.

Amid a real estate crisis in Turkey, nearly 1,000 construction companies have gone bankrupt in less than a year. Before the start of the economic downturn, millions of dollars had been pumped into luxury housing projects across the country. In the western Anatolia region lies a stark symbol of this crisis: a ghost town with hundreds of abandoned Renaissance-style villas. Our colleagues from France 2 report, with FRANCE 24's Maud Jullien.

This is FETHIYE, TURKEY ???????? Safe? Beautiful? Must Visit? What to do in the city. Travel Guide.
Welcome to Fethiye, Turkey. This is our first week in Turkey, starting a brand new series that takes us to various locations in Turkey (stay tuned!).
We’re starting off our time in Turkey in the city of Fethiye, which is a beach town in the Southwest of the country.
Because we were staying in the Calis Beach area of Fethiye, we start the day there. Here you’ll find a long beach, a pedestrian only walking area and loads of restaurants. Because it’s early in the day we grab some breakfast, a traditional Turkish breakfast dish called menemen - which includes eggs, tomato, green peppers, and various spices.
Later we grab a water taxi to make our way to the main part of the town, downtown and Old Town Fethiye. Once we land we pretty much immediately make our way up a big hill to some ancient ruins. These are called Lycian Rock Tombs and are carved into the side of hills. The main one is the Tomb of Amyntas.
Later we head back down into the Old Town to check out the main market which includes both a fish market and a fruit/vegetable market.
After this we head to into the main part of the Old Town to explore the streets and bazaars (including a carpet bazaar).
Lastly, we go back to Calis Beach to catch the sunset - it’s west facing and happens to be an amazing place to watch the sunset! A perfect way to end a great day!
ABOUT FETHIYE
Fethiye is a port city, and district, on Turkey's southwestern Turquoise Coast. It's known for its natural harbor, blue waters and numerous rock tombs including the 4th-century B.C. Tomb of Amyntas, carved into a bluff overlooking the city. Near-shore islands are popular for day trips by boat. In the south, the beach at Ölüdeniz is sheltered by a lagoon, and Butterfly Valley is a designated nature reserve.
ABOUT TURKEY
Turkey is a nation straddling eastern Europe and western Asia with cultural connections to ancient Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Cosmopolitan Istanbul, on the Bosphorus Strait, is home to the iconic Hagia Sophia, with its soaring dome and Christian mosaics, the massive 17th-century Blue Mosque and the circa-1460 Topkapı Palace, former home of sultans. Ankara is Turkey’s modern capital.

Best Hotels in Fethiye / Turkey
Fethiye is one of Turkey's well-known tourist centres and is especially popular during the summer.
In the last ten years Fethiye has become a magnet for British citizens. Apart from its climate and natural beauty, the Britons are attracted by its less expensive lifestyle and the hospitality of the local people. The British population in Turkey is between 34,000 and 38,000. As a result of the large British population and the high numbers of Britons going there for holiday, Fethiye-Öludeniz was chosen as the best tourism centre in the world by The Times and The Guardian newspapers in 2007. Over 7,000 British citizens permanently live in Fethiye, while approximately 600,000 British tourists visit the town every summer.
The Fethiye Museum, which is very rich in ancient and more recent artifacts, displays and testifies to the successive chain of civilizations that existed in the area, starting with the ancient Lycians.
Fethiye is also home to the Tomb of Amyntas, a large and beautiful tomb built in 350 BC by the Lycians. What makes this tomb very unique is its massive size and beautiful carvings.[6] Fethiye Tours, Fethiye Excursions
Some of the other historical sites worth visiting are: Kadyanda Ancient City, Kayakoy- old Greek town, Afkule, Gemiler and Aya Nikola. Most popular touristic towns of Fethiye are: Oludeniz, Calis Beach area, Hisaronu and Ovacik

Fethiye, Muğla | Walking Tour
Fethiye is a small city on the Aegean Sea, which is like a bridge between Turkey and Greece. If you go there, visit Kayakoy, which is about an hour away from Fethiye by minibus. I liked the fact that Fethiye was surrounded by hills.
