In Mombasa city, the walls of Old town houses were built to last.
Many houses have withstood test of time becoming Kenya’s heritage and part of the reason tourists walk the winding alleys.
Its streets are narrow each with its own architecture and atmosphere, old buildings have ornately carved doors and souvenir shops are full of treasures sold by locals who tell historic tales.
Old town tours mostly start from Fort Jesus. Armed with a map one can wander freely however a hired guide who knows the streets and shortcuts is recommended.
There is the Africa hotel opened in 1901 and its twelve bedrooms were appreciated for their balconies with a sea view.

Our walk involves historic narrow streets including rickshaw or tuk tuk ride, the famous Tusks, historic Mosques, Muslim culture, the market. It was a truly beautiful and educational travel experience.

Mombasa City is one of the main tourist attractions from Kenya and it is also the oldest city of Kenya.
We stayed in Mombasa for 3 days and experienced the real life of Kenya. We visited the famous places like Old town, local markets and some of the beautiful beaches.
Unfortunately, we got mugged in Mombasa. Check out at the end of video for the story of how exactly we got mugged and how you can avoid it. Also, some funny bloopers at the end.
