Victoria,BC Part 2-Old Town / Look Haw Far You've Come-Jamie Owens Collins
(Eng/Pol) Victoria city has retained a large number of its historic buildings. The city's Chinatown is the second oldest in North America after San Francisco's. Victoria nicknamed the City of Gardens is also popular with retirees, who come to enjoy the temperate and usually snow-free climate of the area as well as the relaxed pace of the city with many street musicians.

How to get from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria, taking BC Ferries and booking through the BC Ferries Connector.
BC Ferries Connector:
It is possible to plan your own way to the ferry terminal, but for people who don't know the route very well (like me) I believe this is a convenient and affordable solution.
Note - in the video I mention that there are different stops available to get off the bus in Victoria. It's also possible to chose a different location to get on the bus in Vancouver. There are a few different pick up locations across downtown. For me, heading to Pacific Central Bus Station was the easiest option though.
Disclaimer - after learning about BC Ferries Connector, I reached out to the Wilson Group and they offered complimentary travel between Vancouver and Victoria for making this video.

This week Andy from A Taste of Victoria Food Tours is taking us on a walking food tour of Victoria B.C.
We met Andy through one of Tim´s modelling client´s Jessica. Her boyfriend and her run A Taste of Victoria Food Tours together and so we thought it would be a great idea for the vlog one week. We met at Victoria Marketplace which Tim and I were at recently for a photography gig of his called, Well Fed Beauty 2017.
One of the first places that we visited was called Olive the Senses. This is one of my favourite places in Victoria B.C. for balsamic vinegars. These are for much more than making salads. They have loads of great recipes on their website.
Olivethesenses.com
We made our way into China Town and Andy taught us so much about the history of China Town and all the alleys. There is even a time capsule that I didn´t know about. In Fan Tam Alley we stopped at an ice cream shop I had never tried called, Kid Sister Ice cream. This was honestly some of the best salted caramel ice cream I have ever had. It is dangerous this place is so close to our home.
Another big hit on our tour was Sult Pierogi Bar who makes homemade pierogies. They were simply delicious and we are looking forward to go back to try some of their unique pierogi creations.
As a local, I found new places to eat that I have never tried before and, I saw my town with fresh eyes and I learned things about my town that I didn´t even know. I think I would definitely check out food tours in other towns to find out all the best places that the locals eat and to get the lay of the land so to speak.
If you liked this vlog, please give it a thumbs up, subscribe and turn on notifications and let me know the best place to eat in your town.

Victoria's Chinatown - British Columbia
Established in 1858 Victoria's Chinatown is the oldest in Canada and second only in age to the Chinatown in San Francisco (USA). Like many Chinatowns, the historic community in Victoria began with the Chinese migration to British Columbia during the Fraser River gold rush and coal-mining era during the late 1850s and 1860s. As typical with Chinatown buildings, most were constructed in Western styles of the day but with a few Oriental features incorporated into structures such as recessed balconies, 'cheater floors', Chinese character inscriptions, and upturned eaves, tiling and roof corners.
Canada's first Chinatown is also the only functioning Chinatown portraying a complete history in this capacity from the early arrival of Chinese to present day. While small compared to other Chinatowns elsewhere, it is a bustling and vibrant community with stores, markets, and historic structures well worth planning a visit for. Victoria's Chinatown was designated in 1995 as a National Historic Site of Canada.

If you are wondering what to do in Victoria B.C., then this is the vlog for you. We are going to share with you our top ten things to do in Victoria B.C. Put on your pedometers and fitbits because most of them are in walking distance in downtown Victoria and you will have bragging rights about the number of steps you walk each day. Some of them are a short drive out of town if you have a car. We have shared our best free things to do in Victoria and some of the things that are well worth the money.
#10 Whale Watching Tours with BC Whale Tours
Whale watching in Victoria BC is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is worth the extra money to go out on a whale watching tour. If you are in Victoria and you have the time and money, make sure you go whale watching at least once.
#9 Fan Tan Alley in Chinatown
One of the most interesting things to do in Victoria BC is visit Fan Tam Alley in Chinatown. The Alley is great for photography and shopping. My personal favourite is Kid Sister Ice Cream.
#8 Shopping in Victoria BC, Lower Johnson to Government Street
My favourite place to shop in Victoria BC are the shops on Lower Johnson and then walk along Government Street. There are lots of independently owned businesses with local artisans that you will not find anywhere else.
#7 Victoria Bakery
Victoria BC has no shortage of fabulous bakeries. Our personal favourite is Crust Bakery on Fort Street. I would recommend their cronuts, a cross between a croissant and a donut.
#6 Beacon Hill Park Petting Zoo - Running of the Goats, Goat Stampede!
The gate to the Beacon Hill Children’s Farm open’s at 10 am in the summer and everyday at 10:10 am there is the adorable “Running of the Goats,” 30 seconds of sheer joy.
#5 Beacon Hill Park
Beacon Hill Park is over 200 acres of gorgeous parkland in downtown Victoria BC. There are bridges, lakes, ponds, paths, gardens, trees, flowers, running streams, ducks, birds, wildlife, eagles, and blue herons. It is a beautiful place to go for a walk or sit on a park bench.
#4 Goldstream Provincial Park
If you have a car you can take a short drive out of town to Goldstream Provincial Park. The park boasts some beautiful old-growth trees including Douglas firs and Western Red Cedars. Some of them are 600 years old. You can walk the flat trails around the lower part of the park or if you are feeling adventurous take a hike up to the Railway Trestle.
#3 Mount Doug (Mount Douglas Park)
Again if you have a car you can drive out to Saanich and take a drive to the top of Mount Doug from noon to dusk each day. Churchill Drive allows you to drive to the top seven days a week, or if you are feeling fit, you can take any of the trails from the bottom to the summit for spectacular 360 degree views of the city.
#2 Eat at Red Fish Blue Fish
Our favourite restaurant in Victoria BC is Red Fish Blue Fish. Red Fish Blue Fish actually isn’t a restaurant, you have to line up and for a long time at an up-cycled cargo container in the Inner Harbour for your fish and chips or tacones. Then you get to sit on the wooden pier and eat your seafood with a view of the sea planes, sailboats, kayakers and seals in the inner harbour. I will say it again, is worth the line up!
#1 Feed the Seals at Oak Bay Marina
Our number one thing to do in Victoria BC is to feed the seals at Oak Bay Marina. The harbour seals are super fun and entertaining as you throw them frozen fish pieces. You will love capturing their cute faces for your instagram feed. This is always the highlight of our visitors’ stay.
So there you have it. Our top 10 things to do in Victoria BC. What are your favourite things to do in Victoria BC? Would you change the order of our list? What would you add? What would you take away? Leave your comments, let us know.
Thanks for watching, please subscribe, turn on notifications and like this video.
See you next week!

Miniature World in Downtown Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Tucked behind the Empress Hotel, is Miniature World in downtown Victoria, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. There are many rooms to enjoy. Near the entrance are space themed lit up displays, then military ones. Our favourite rooms hosted fairy tale settings, giant fully furnished dollhouses, and the circus.

Overeating at Fisherman's Wharf!! | Downtown Victoria British Columbia // Nat and Max
Fisherman's Wharf is definitely a MUST VISIT spot here in Victoria BC. It hosts a variety of restaurants. From sushi, to ice cream, to barbecue and to eventually their famous fish in chips! You'll find it hard to resist on trying all these in just one visit. If you try hard enough, you can find some seals waiting for food. BUT take note that the government has prohibited seal feeding starting this summer. We also found it crazy that it houses a few Floating Homes. These are actual homes that people live on. ON WATER!
We also decided to hop on Victoria's Water Taxi and visit Old town, China town and the famous Legislative building and Empress Dock.

[Vancouver and Victoria Street and Harbour Scenes 1907]
A Panorama or Panoramic rather than a documentary, a very popular attraction in Nickelodeons in the early days of film exhibition, in which scenes were filmed from the front of a moving vehicle, often a railway train. The film comprises street scenes filmed from the front of moving street cars and harbour scenes filmed from moving water craft. It is in three distinct parts: the streets of Victoria, Victoria Harbour, and the streets of Vancouver.Streets travelled in Victoria include Douglas Street, Yates Street, and Government Street. Seen are the Empress Hotel, where construction is nearing completion, the Parliament Buildings, the CPR piers and sheds, and Laurel Point. A few automobiles, numerous bicycles, horse-drawn vehicles, and other streetcars are in evidence.Seen from the water are Victoria's inner harbour with the ships of the sealing fleet tied side by side, the Point Ellice Bridge, The Gorge, and the Tillicum Bridge over the Reversing Falls with a prominent view of a rock which has since been blasted away, Selkirk Water and Halkett Island (also known as Island of the Dead), the Johnson Street Bridge with a steam hauled passenger train of the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway crossing it, the factories of the British America Paint Company and the B.C. Soap Works at Laurel Point, the Pendray House, CPR ferries, and more views of the Parliament Buildings, the Empress Hotel, and the Customs House.Among the streets travelled in Vancouver are Granville Street, with a glimpse of the old CPR station, West Hastings Street, Carrall Street, West Cordova Street, Canbie Street, Robson Street, and Davie Street.
