HUMAC - THE LOST CITY IN HVAR
Humac is an uninhabited hamlet on the island of Hvar, Croatia. It is connected by the D116 highway. Located 350 m (1,150 ft) above sea level, 10 km (6.2 mi) from Jelsa.
It is a very old village where man had been living for centuries. There are many simple houses made of stone in its surroundings called trim, built without binder in a way that they become narrower towards the top. Many of them have their original foundations from early Stone Age. Inhabitants of Humac have been occupied with cattle and wine growing for thousands years, and in around 1950 they started growing lavender. In the last few centuries people didn't live in Humac (while living in village Vrsnik), but spent time in Humac during major agrarian works. These days village is brought to life only once a year, on St. John and Paul's day, patron saints of Humac, which is 26 June and when inhabitants return to their roots. On other days there is only Tavern Humac (Konoba Humac in Croatian) working most of days with vegetables from eco-gardens and meal cooked old style.

Mirca, a beautiful picturesque village inhabited by olive growers and farmers is less than half hour's walk away from the centre of Supetar. It was founded by the inhabitants of the nearby villages of Sutivan and Donji Humac in the 16th century.
The name Mirca comes from the Latin word murus, which means wall, and the interesting fact is how its name has changed according to cases in Croatian language. So the people from Mirca (the Mrčani) will say they are going to Mirca or that they have come from Mirac. Mirca is certain to enchant you with its simplicity and beautiful rural architecture, characteristic for little Dalmatian island villages. Walk through upper Mirca and you will wish you were the owner of one of the beautiful and quiet stone houses with their splendid views over the Brač Channel and the land in the distance.
Attractions
Although only small, Mirca conceals some interesting works of art -- in Our Lady of Visit church built in the 18th century you can see the altarpiece of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows created by the self-taught painter Felix Tironi as well as the Cyril and Methodius painting by Pave Gospodnetić, naïve painter from Postire on the island of Brač.
When you feel like being lonely or meditating, walk along the olive ways, a walking trail through old olive groves.
Events
When you feel like spending time among people, why not visit the real traditional Brač Fair -- Gospa Miraška that takes place on 2nd July. Do not miss the traditional exhibition in Mutne kale (Donji dvori) that has conventionally been taking place for 18 years on the first Saturday in August. Besides paintings by Mirca painters and friends, you will be able to enjoy good company, fried sardines, red wine and Dalmatian klapa song.
