The Pines Forest Park - Olney State Forest - Watagan Mountains
The Pines Forest Park is a beautiful spot for a picnic, BBQ or to camp. Located in the Olney State Forest in the Watagan Mountains, it's around an hours drive from Newcastle (Australia).
We decided to go there for a BBQ over the Easter long weekend. While cooking our BBQ lunch, I wacked on a couple of cameras to capture the way the light moved through the trees.
Enjoy.

The Pines Campground - Olney State Forest
A quick snapshot of the Pines Campground in the Olney State Forest located an hr from Newcastle. Most people will probably refer to this as the Watagans.
Overall it was a great place to camp. A bit open in some places, but at the same time, there was a lot of space to spread out. I would probably avoid it during school holidays though! The Abbotts Falls Walking Track starts from here, about 50m to the left of the toilet block.
There are a few other sites in the area offering some more private and secluded areas worth checking out.
