Old Engines in Japan 1950s Bus with Wood gas generator TANOJIRI
In Japan, during and after World War II gasoline and other fuel were rationed and in short supply. Originally, the Japanese Government had been recommending the development of the wood gas generator since 1930s. It became the precious fuel in the field of the forestry. When the fuel situation became worse, many wood gas generators were made . Those were used by buses, trucks, gasoline rail cars and agricultural oil engines. This wood gas generator was made in 1950 by TANOJIRI Alternative Fuel Vehicle Works. In the movie, it is combined with TOYOTA FC80's engine, chassis and cab-over bus body. It has been passing motor-vehicle inspection in Japan. And, sometimes attends events. Omachi energy Museum owns this bus.
