Places to see in ( San Sebastian - Spain ) Ondarreta Beach
Although the most popular beach in San Sebastián is La Concha, Ondarreta beach is another one that stands out among the three in the city. Ondarreta is an urban beach located in the Antiguo quarter, right under the slope of Igueldo mount and bordering on the renowned sculptural work by Chillida Peine de los Vientos at one end, and on Pico del Loro at the other. The latter is a stone outcrop which separates Ondarreta beach from La Concha beach. Ondarreta is almost half as long as La Concha, however, it is much wider, which makes it more convenient to stay there when the tide is high, so that you still have plenty of space to lie in the sun. Owing to its width, Ondarreta has a greater total area: 60.000 square metres.
Normally, this beach offers a rather youthful atmosphere if we compare it with La Concha. It is also common to find local people in Ondarreta, since it seems to be somewhat easier to park your car in the city centre, something that equally causes visitors to stay there as they can leave their vehicles in parkings to spend the day on the beach.
Even though an area of the beach is delimited in its pavement by the famous La Concha handrail, the rest of the beach is not marked out by anything, so access is easy from anywhere in the Promenade by the beach.
Ondarreta also has showers, dressing rooms and sunshade rent service for all those who wish to use them, although you will have to pay a small amount of money in order to enjoy them. Additionally, we can find a small bar in the middle of the beach and a refreshment stall.

San Sebastián is a resort town on the Bay of Biscay in Spain’s mountainous Basque Country. It’s known for Playa de la Concha and Playa de Ondarreta, beaches framed by a picturesque bayfront promenade, and world-renowned restaurants helmed by innovative chefs. In its cobblestoned old town (Parte Vieja), upscale shops neighbor vibrant pintxo bars pairing local wines with bite-size regional specialties. San Sebastian Donostia is a coastal city and municipality located in the Basque Autonomous Community, Spain. It lies on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, 20 km (12 miles) from the French border. The capital city of Gipuzkoa.
The main economic activities of San Sebastian Donostia are commerce and tourism, and San Sebastian Donostia is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Spain. Despite the city’s small size, events such as the San Sebastián International Film Festival have given it an international dimension.
The Parte Vieja (Old Town) is the traditional core area of the city, and was surrounded by walls up to 1863, when they were demolished so as to occupy the stretch of sand and land that connected the town to the mainland. Antiguo stands at the west side of the city beyond the Miramar Palace. It is arguably the first population nucleus, even before the land at the foot of Urgull (Old Part) was settled. A monastery of San Sebastián el Antiguo. Amara Zaharra has eventually merged with the city centre to a large extent, since former Amara lay on the marshes at the left of the River Urumea.
Amara Berri is the city expansion to the south came about as of the 1940s, after the works to canalize the river were achieved. Gros is built on the sandy terrain across the river. The Gros or Zurriola surf beach by the river's mouth bears witness to that type of soil. One of the newest parts in the city, Aiete kept a rural air until not long ago. Egia, stemming from (H)Egia (Basque for either bank/shore or hill), is a popular district of Donostia on the right side of the Urumea beyond the train station. Intxaurrondo is a large district to the east of the city. The original nucleus lies between the railway and the Ategorrieta Avenue, where still today the farmhouse Intxaurrondo Zar, declared National Monument.
Altza (Basque for alder tree) is the easternmost district of San Sebastián along with Bidebieta and Trintxerpe. Ibaeta stands on the former location for various factories (e.g., Cervezas El León) of San Sebastián, with the buildings of the old industrial estate being demolished in the late 20th century. Loiola lies by the Urumea at the south-east end of the city. It comprises a small patch of detached houses (Ciudad Jardín) and a core area of 6-odd floor buildings.
Riberas de Loiola is a new modern district erected in the 2000s next to the city's inner bypass and south road entrance to Donostia. A pedestrian bridge spans the Urumea river onto the Cristina Enea Park. The Martutene district bordering to the south on the town of Astigarraga comes next to Loiola in the south direction. The exclave Zubieta (meaning 'place of bridges') was a picturesque old village up to recent years, with a bunch of houses.

La Concha Bay - San Sebastian - Spain - 4k View
San Sebastian is one of the most trendy destinations of 2017.
Any excuse to visit San Sebastian is good. Besides the unequalled beauty of La Concha Bay, (a shell shaped bay) which the royal family fell in love with at the start of the last century and continues to captivate anyone who comes to see it, the city is the place to come to for innovative cuisine that has made it famous across the world, a wide range of festivals that have made it a genuine cultural phenomenon and an active and healthy lifestyle that is very much in touch with the natural resources on offer. All these reasons have made it a top tourist destination over the last two centuries.

Places to see in ( San Sebastian - Spain ) Zurriola beach
Places to see in ( San Sebastian - Spain ) Zurriola beach
La Playa de Zurriola is the only San Sebastián beach that isn't located on the acclaimed Concha Bay. You could say that it's a bit of a misfit - less elegant and a bit rougher - but also very special. It is the most exposed beach of the city and a great spot for a city break in the green north. Activities like skateboarding attract a younger crowd.
Like Ondarreta beach on the other side of town, which is adjacent to the imposing Igueldo mountain, Zurriola beach ends at Ulía mountain. Together the two mountains enclose the city of San Sebastián. From Zurriola beach you can walk above on the Ulía mountain to the neighbouring Pasajes de San Juan. On the other length of Zurriola, the Urumea river flows into the sea along the promenade and the breakwater.
From the centre of the bridge, you will find Zurriola beach just behind the modern Kursaal building by architect Rafael Moneo - sometimes jokingly said to be the small 'Guggenheim' from the neighbouring city of Bilbao. The annual Film Festival takes place in this building. Concha Bay may be the most elegant, but Zurriola beach sees the most international movie stars on the red carpet
Zurriola beach underwent extensive renovations in 1995. This includes the construction of a breakwater so that swimming would be safe. The beach was also larger then. Today, Zurriola offers a pleasant strip of sand over a length of approximately 800 metres and an average width of 110 metres.
There is always something to see at Zurriola beach, also known as la playa de Gros. They often cycle or run from the city's surfers district, Gros. They all look out at the sea, awaiting the waves.
There are several surfing schools on the beach. Pukas is one of the best known. There are surfboards for rent throughout the year.
The Zurriola surf beach offers fun for all levels. Surfing can take place all over the bay. To the east by the seawall you have breaking waves. Zurriola can produce excellent waves, from small to medium. In autumn and winter far more experienced surfers come here for the bigger waves, while there are more beginners and students in the summer. There are especially many local surfers.

San Sebastián: La joya del norte
The jewel of the North: San Sebastian
(Portraits of Spanish Cities and Towns, 2)
European Capital of Culture in 2016: Impressions from one of the most beautiful towns on this planet. Gipuzkoa's capital is situated in a unique place at the mouth of the river Urumea, protected by the surrounding hills and mountains. A bay shelters the Concha and Ondarreta beaches from high waves coming from the Atlantic Ocean whereas the Zurriola beach has direct access to the open sea. Most of the elegant buildings are constructed during the Belle Epoque and give the town a very special and unique flair.
