Working as a commercial assistant on large productions for international fashion and editorial magazines gave Garry a solid understanding of studio lighting. However it was working as a wedding and family photographer that he learned how to anticipate the moment and capture great images under any lighting condition.

【ActionMedia SKETCH】James Turrell: Immersive Light @Long Museum
Long Museum is honored to present the first comprehensive retrospective of James Turrell (Los Angeles, b. 1943) in China on January 21st, 2017. James Turrell: Immersive Light brings together the oeuvre of Turrell’s five-decade career, which includes not only his iconic light projections and space installations, but also a selection of photography and prints. Furthermore, a major new site- specific installation will offer the audience a transformed exceptional experience of the Long Museum.
As a crucial leading figure in the Southern California Light and Space movement in the 1960s, James Turrell uses light and space as mediums to explore the visual and psychological reflections of perception, sensational stimulation, and spatial transformation. His earlier light projections and installations evoke impressions of materiality from the seemingly immaterial. Since 1977, James Turrell has been constructing his epic work in Roden Crater—a monument to land art and a naked- eye observatory within a natural cinder volcano situated on the western edge of the painted desert in northern Arizona. Through precise calculation and deliberate design, the work dramatically brings the infinite and enigmatic cosmos down to earth and into the perceived territory of the individual.

Unite on the Swan - promo video (extended version)
UNITE ON THE SWAN
Imagine 3,200 passionate West Australians and their paddle craft uniting on the Swan River to break a Guinness World record and support the victims of the Waroona District fires.
UNITE ON THE SWAN is a fantastic initiative presented by Canoeing WA and Water Wanderers. 100% of proceeds from ticket registrations will be donated. This exciting record attempt will take place on Sunday April 10, 2016. Mark this date in your diary, it’s going to be something special!
REGISTER HERE:
pozible.com/uniteontheswan
The largest raft of canoes and kayaks consists of 3,150 boats and was achieved by One Square Mile of Hope in Inlet, New York, USA, on 13 September 2014.
As well as attempting to break the world record for the largest raft of kayaks and canoes, UNITE ON THE SWAN’s goal is also to raise over $32,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief - with 100% of proceeds from ticket registrations being donated to support the victims of the Waroona and District Fires 2016.
On the day, join us to celebrate paddling, the Swan River and living in Western Australia. Take the opportunity to team up with friends and family, make new friends, and take in sensational views from a very special perspective on Perth’s doorstep. Represent your club, school or kayaking/canoeing/sit-on-top skiing group by wearing your colours with pride. Or dress up and wear a wig … the bolder and brighter, the better! Together we want to create a massive sea of amazing colour and fun on the Swan - as we raft up to attempt to break a world record!
This world record attempt will really capture the spirit, enthusiasm and fun of paddling and the people of WA. Who better than outdoor loving West Australian paddlers, competitive and casual alike, to step up to the plate to make history? As well as being a huge event to promote paddle sports as a positive life changing physical activity, Unite on the Swan will demonstrate how our community can come together to support others in the state in their time of need.
If you don’t have a paddling craft - no worries. We have a limited number of kayaks and gear available!
Our first priority is to make sure that we raise a considerable donation for the victims of the Waroona District fires before 100% going ahead with our event on Sunday April 10. This is why we are doing a Pozible campaign: so you can pledge your support to make this community event happen without actually handing over any money until we reach our bare minimum target of $5,000. Your pledge for $10 or over includes your ticket.
$5,000 equates to only 500x people with a paddling craft registering for the minimum fee of $10 each to participate! So c’mon WA, let’s do this!
Be a part of this incredible, memorable event on Sunday April 10 on the beautiful Swan River in front of majestic Perth city. Access from various zones surrounding the designated location, depending on your transportation and paddling requirements. Set out on your kayak or canoe, glide on the diamond waters with your family and friends, and raft up with a mass of other paddlers in front of Perth City. Experienced volunteers and guides will be on hand with any questions you may have on the way. When everyone has rafted up, you will be featured in an amazing never-before-seen photo in our fair city!

Minimalist Home Design with Clear and Concise Exterior Lines that Flow Into the Interior of the Hous
Big Timber Riverside is a private home located in Montana, USA. It was designed by Hughes Umbanhowar Architects.
The sole shelter providing trees on this 2000-acre Montana ranch are the cottonwoods along the banks of the property-bisecting river. The house is sited is in a clearing within a grove of these trees that reveals a clear view of the distant mountain range known as the Crazies. The environs recall the unexploited American West of a century ago.
This river has the potential to dramatically flood its banks during late spring melt off in the mountains. As the first line of defense to this self imposed threat, the house sits on a 30” tall porous plinth lifting the finish floors well above the flood line. Other than the elevated driveway, the house will appear to float on the river as waters pass around and under the foundation. The house has been sited among spring fed ponds in the flood plain that provide year round water features when the river otherwise can slow to a trickle during drought cycles.
The house presents two distinct and separate facades on arrival, revealing itself after the visitor enters as two interlocking objects– one, a two-level glass wedge, the other a one story wooden bar. Joined together they form a “T” shape. A glass enclosed hall along the western side of the residence adds to the width of the wooden structure and recalls the scale and function of the shed covered walkways in former frontier towns.

Kim Bonython: A Tribute
South Australian entrepreneur and arts investor Kim Bonython died on 19 March 2011 after a long illness. He was aged 90.
A patron of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy, he was elected as a South Australian delegate to the 1998 Constitutional Convention.
He played a leading role in the 1999 campaign for a No vote in the republican referendum. The state ( and the nation ) overwhelmingly rejected the proposal.
The ABC reported that he died peacefully in his North Adelaide home on Saturday surrounded by family. This segment was broadcast by the ABC from Adelaide.
The following is a slightly edited report from the ABC.
A lover of fine art and fast cars, Kim Bonython played a key role in securing the Adelaide Grand Prix and introduced Australia to artists such as Arthur Boyd and Sidney Nolan.
I've always said that I've got a reasonably good eye for a good picture, but pretty crook judgement on when to sell them, he once said.
Kim Bonython established an art gallery in Adelaide and also carved an impressive reputation as an art and jazz promoter, introducing Australia to the likes of Chuck Berry and Louie Armstrong.
He also managed Adelaide's Rowley Park speedway for more than two decades.
His daughter, Nicole Bonython-Hines, says her father made his mark on the state in many areas.
He was a very special father and grandfather to us and to the community I think he was a very special individual, he said.
For us, he was just Dad and Poppa, but to the community at large, I think he's done an enormous amount culturally and I think his legacy will live on.
His interest in art has reflected back into the community. In some way he's helped to make Adelaide the cultural state that it is now.
Greenhill Galleries director Russell Starke says Kim Bonython brought previously unknown artists to the fore.
I'm going to miss him personally and his knowledge and his guidance and his intelligence and his wit, he said.
Even when one expects death, it's always a surprise.
Kim Bonython, a RAAF pilot in World War II, took his last breath as an F18 jet shot across the sky over his home as part of show for this week's V8 Supercar rally.
A clairvoyant once said that Dad would die in March in an aeroplane, Ms Bonython-Hines said.
Dad's always been loathe to fly during the month of March ... but in fact he did die in March and he did go off with an aeroplane.
Kim Bonython is survived by his five children and grandchildren.
We have lost a great South Australian but his legacy will live on, Premier Mike Rann said.
Mr Rann said there would be a state funeral on Tuesday March 29 in Adelaide.
