What To Do in Cozumel, Mexico in 24 HRS | Travel Guide
Cozumel, Mexico is known for having amazing snorkeling and beautiful beaches. The best way to get around Cozumel is to rent a scooter in Playa del Carmen and pick it up in Cozumel at Roosters. Take a cruise on the ferry and enjoy the ride! I took a ferry from the dock in Playa del Carmen for $17 USD and that was for roundtrip tickets. The ferry leaves every hour so you don't have to rush to get your tickets.

INCREDIBLE Day on COZUMEL ISLAND | What To Do in COZUMEL

Huffington Post:
Cozumel Island | On a clear day, looking out over the Caribbean from Playa del Carmen, you can get a glimpse of a few of the buildings on Cozumel Island. The Island of Cozumel sits only a 40 minute ferry ride over the baby blue water of the Caribbean from Playa del Carmen and that small crossing takes you into Island Life on Cozumel.
You will often hear people say its about the journey, not the destination. Well that is kind of playing favourites. Personally, I love a day, like going to Cozumel Island, when it is about the destination AND the journey. A long journey does create the excitement for arrival at a place, and when you are going to an island like Cozumel, the journey over could be 3 times longer and I wouldn't care. You can sit up top on the Cozumel Ferry over to the island, and take in some sun, live music, have a drink, some snacks, and gaze over the blue water as Cozumel Island approaches in the distance. Visiting Cozumel in the summer? Want some air conditioning? You can sit inside the boat and get carried over the Cozumel is frigid comfort, also, able to enjoy a beverage or snack. Once the journey to Cozumel is done, you now get the enjoyment of being able to explore this beautiful island. I always say the best way to explore an island like Cozumel or an island like Isla Mujeres, is with a scooter, jeep, or golf cart. These are easy to rent on Cozumel and you will see stalls as you exit the ferry port on Cozumel. I always suggest to leave the Cozumel Ferry port, and walk a little bit towards the main square in San Miguel, which is the only real town on Cozumel, and you will find rental prices go down. Do a little conversation back and forth and watch the price drop even more. Due to the size of Cozumel Island, this is the only real way to see the beauty of this island because so much of it is on the complete other side.
San Miguel is a small grid system town that offers shopping and touristy things to do near the Cozumel Ferry Port and along the water. As you go even a couple blocks back into the town of San Miguel, it becomes more like real Mexico, and the real Riviera Maya.
If you head to the northern tip of the island, the last road you will be able to take inland, will cross you right across the center part of Cozumel Island. Much of Cozumel is protected or uninhabitable and therefore, you cannot access it. Once you travel across Cozumel, you enter a different world in comparison to the streets of San Miguel or Playa del Carmen across the water. Simply just a few little huts, restaurants, bars with sand floors and watering holes on the bluff over looking the more rocky and windswept Caribbean. This is where Cozumel Island really wins you over. Approaching the southern tip of the island, you will pass the Bob Marley Bar, which just like Isla Mujeres, is a must visit and a great place to relax and soak everything in before the long road back to San Miguel.
Anyone in the Playa del Carmen area, or even if you are actually on Cozumel Island, must visit, rent a vehicle and enjoy this beautiful place.

Cenote Cristalino, Playa del Carmen:
Have to admit, it was a little emotional leaving Cozumel Island. Not sad, not happy, just that no name emotion you get when something is coming to an end, possibly, and you don't know the next time, or if you will be here again. Its exciting because you really feel and live in the moment opposed to when I planned to be in Playa del Carmen for a while, I knew I could always pop over to Cozumel for the day and enjoy all the things to do on Cozumel Island. Now I know I will be leaving this area and I am looking back not only on my visits to Cozumel, but my time here as a whole. Ups and downs, but as you can imagine, I do not regret ANYTHING about it.

AMAZING MEXICO, COZUMEL, MEXICO TRAVEL, ISLA MUJERES, INCREDIBLY CLEAR WATER, MEXICAN BEACHES
AMAZING MEXICO, COZUMEL, MEXICO TRAVEL, ISLA MUJERES, COZUMEL MEXICO, Cozumel (Mayan: Island of the Swallows) is an island in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, opposite Playa del Carmen. It is one of the eight municipalities (municipios) of the state of Quintana Roo. Cozumel is a popular tourist destination renowned for its scuba diving. The main town on the island is San Miguel de Cozumel.
The island is about 48 km (30 miles) north-south and 16 km (10 miles) east-west, and is the largest Atlantic island of Mexico. It is about 20 km (12 miles) from the mainland, and some 60 km (36 miles) south of Cancún. The vast majority of the population of Cozumel lives in the town of San Miguel (pop. 71,401 in 2005), which is on the western shore. The rest of the island is low, flat, and densely vegetated. Cozumel has tropical savanna climate under the Köppen climate classification that closely borders on a tropical monsoon climate.[11] The dry season is short, from February to April, but even in these months precipitation is observed, averaging about 45 millimetres (1.8 in) of rain per month. The wet season is lengthy, covering most of the months, with September and October being the wettest months, when precipitation averages over 240 millimetres (9.4 in). Thunderstorms can occasionally occur during the wet season.[12] Temperatures tend to remain stable with little variation from month to month though the temperatures are cooler from December to February with the coolest month averaging 22.9 °C (73.2 °F). Owing to its proximity to the sea, the island is fairly humid, with an average humidity of 83%.[12] The wettest recorded month was October 1980 with 792 millimetres (31.2 in) of precipitation and the wettest recorded day was June 19, 1975, with 281 millimetres (11.1 in).[12] Extremes range from 9.2 °C (48.6 °F) on January 18, 1977 to 39.2 °C (102.6 °F). Tourism, diving and charter fishing comprise the majority of the island’s economy. There are more than 300 restaurants on the island and many hotels, some of which run dive operations, have swimming pools, private docks, and multiple dining facilities.
Other water activities include para-sailing, kitesurfing, and a tourist submarine. There are also two dolphinariums. At the cruise ship docks there are several square blocks of stores selling Cuban cigars, jewellery, T-shirts, tequila, and a large variety of inexpensive souvenirs.
San Miguel is home to many restaurants with a huge variety of different cuisines, along with several discothèques, bars, cinemas, and outdoor stages. The main plaza is surrounded by shops; in the middle of the plaza is a fixed stage where Cozumeleños and tourists celebrate every Sunday evening with music and dancing.
All food and manufactured supplies are shipped to the island. Water is provided by three different desalination facilities located on the island. Scuba diving is still one of Cozumel's primary attractions, mainly due to the coral reef on the western shore of Cozumel. These coral reefs are protected from the open ocean by the island's natural geography. In 1996, the government of Mexico also established the Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park, forbidding anyone from touching or removing any marine life within the park boundaries.[18] Despite the importance of healthy reefs to Cozumel's tourist trade, a deepwater pier was built in the 1990s for cruise ships to dock, causing damage to the reefs, and it is now a regular stop on cruises in the Caribbean. Over the past few decades, coral reef health has significantly declined in Cozumel, with much lower coral cover now present than was historically recorded.[19][20]
Cozumel seen through the eye of Hurricane Wilma
The island was struck directly by two Category 4 hurricanes during the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. In July, Hurricane Emily passed just south of Cozumel, exposing the island to the storm's intense inner core. Despite Emily being a powerful storm, it was the larger, stronger, slower-moving Hurricane Wilma that caused the most destruction when it hit the island in October.[21] Wilma's eye passed directly over Cozumel.
There was some damage to the underwater marine habitat. This included the coral reefs, which suffered particularly at the shallower dive sites, and the fish that inhabit the reefs.
The island is about 48 km (30 mi) long The majority of the island's population lives in the town of San Miguel (pop. 77,236 in 2010),[5] which is on the island's western shore. The municipality, which includes two small areas on the m Cozumel is a flat island based on limestone, resulting in a karst topography. The highest natural point on the island is less than 15 m (49 ft) above sea level. The cenotes are deep water filled sinkholes formed by water percolating through the soft limestone soil for thousands of years. Cozumel's cenotes are restricted to qualified cave divers with appropriate credentials.
